What is YOUR weather like today??

Cold and windy now . At the height of the storm the other night a tornado ripped the roofs off four or five houses just ten kliks east of me . No one hurt but it surely soiled their undies. My brother is touring over near Perth at the moment . He said it has been freezing ,wet and windy the whole time he has been over there. I guess he did not miss anything not being at home.. Ron.

18c sunny with a nice breeze.I might look around for some laundry to do. hahaha.

It's the summer solstice today, the longest day.I can't believe it's here already.Up in this neck of the woods the summer has hardly started.

Maybe today's warm weather bodes well. :soledance:

Decided to wait until tomorrow. It's very warm and I've got all the windows open
but the breeze is making the blinds rattle. I know what you're thinking Ron...."Is that all the daft mare has to complain about"?.........sorry.

Our winter temps have been well above average but we finally have had two days of cooler weather(where you don't need to kick the blankets off in the middle of the night). I hope it continues Ron.

Nice start, feels like 18c but will be warmer inland. We're off to a country fair with a picnic and factor 50.......will I take a mac or not ??? Hmmm !

63f or so it says !!

Mmm maybe take the mac Carol u know the british weather 😕
Enjoy your day tho what ever the weather ☺

I haven't been on this thread in a while. We have had the same heat wave Ann in Arizona has had, but only approaching 100° this far north. Saturday it is supposed to cool down about twenty degrees. I've been staying inside my nice, cool, air conditioned house. Allie, our dog, keeps wanting out where it is a little warmer (she likes it warmer than me) but then wants right back in after about a minute, panting. A few minutes later the whole process is repeated. I wish we could put a doggie door in the brick wall of our house or our glass French door to the backyard .~sigh~
Also, fire season has started here in Utah (and the western US). Some idiots keep flying their drone aircraft to look at the fire and keep getting in the way of the fire fighting helicopters and planes. One fire in particular probably doubled in size overnight because they had to stop their operations because of these idiots. They will definitely be fined if they are caught, but I think they ought to be strung up by their toenails. Grrrrr!

Sandy, be careful in the hot weather. I wish we had a fence. Our dog loves the outdoors.

I don't know how we'd survive --- (excuse me while I let the dog out ... Ok, I'm back) --- without a fenced yard. I literally can't walk far enough to take Allie for daily walks (good ol' stroke damage) and Doug is always exhausted after 10 hour days at work along with his crohn's. Allie chases the birds (but never catches them) (and now Allie's back inside) and sometimes runs along the fenceline to chase our neighbor's dogs. She does get an occasional very short walk by me (about 1/8th mile) or occasional longer one by Doug (a mile or two), and once in awhile will escape and explore the neighborhood. She used to climb the fence to escape but can't do that anymore . Now she will very rarely just run away if we don't have her on a leash going to or from the car (she usually just sticks with us). She really needs that mental stimulation of exploring, but can't do a lot more than that herself in her old age and arthritic condition.
But I digress. I wish we could just magically drop a fence your direction. It's nice to have to let the dogs out to do their business on their own, etc.

Pets are funny. The lady in the flat above me is away looking after a friend with cancer. She forgot to ask me to look after her cat. Gecko is outside my front door every morning politely asking me for some dinner. She is such a little sweetie, I always have a stash of cans for kitty emergencies. Cloudy and cold at the moment. The southern states have snow down to 600 meters. We may get a sprinkling of snow on the border ranges on Saturday. It is so rare in Qld that the term 'when hell freezes over' is pretty accurate. Ron.

warm and humid start, went out on the bikes and got caught in a downpour. There were lots of day trippers along the coast definitely NOT dressed for the weather.

We are supposed to be cold today but it is past midnight and the temp at my puter is still 22c. Ron.

Still too warm for a restful sleep Ron ? :frown:
I hope it cools down soon.Maybe closer to dawn. Are you still working with your nose to the grindstone ?

Yes Carol nothing changes I have lots of machines lined up awaiting attention, my unit flooded again last week in the second east coast low and yesterday they did a pest inspection and found termites active in the wall where my back door is. That is the fourth invasion of the little sods and I have lost count of how many times that I have flooded. With all the work I have perhaps I should just ask the new boss if I can live at the shop. Just joking ,I see too much of the shop as it is. Ron.

I don't know how you keep going Ron.You must have a will of iron.Long may it last, because once you give in,then what ?

17c,sunny start but heavy rain forecast.Looking out the window now wondering if I should get the washing off the line.

Different day, the cold front arrived It is midday and only 12c at my puter. More my type of temp :) Ron.

Boring weather here.Warmish, cloudyish, might rain later, might not.

RON,enjoy the cool (that's a summers day here sometimes) you know it won'r last.

More dry, hot weather is expected which isn't going to help the fire fighting efforts for the one particular fire down in southern Utah I mentioned earlier. (Drone planes grounded fire fighting aircraft for three days and the fire doubled in size overnight at one point.) They have evacuated one community, let them back, now advising them to leave again. They say it might take weeks to get it totally under control.

Oh how awful.. i really hope they can gain control and no one gets hurt. Prayers that it can be dealt with safely for all 💕💕

I have been watching the US fires on the news Sandy. I think that we get so much coverage of these events to remind us that we are not alone in suffering from wildfires (tho I always wonder if like Australia , many are deliberately started.) As bad as the human toll in lives and homes we often forget how devastating these fires are to wildlife. I hope that your fires are extinguished very soon, Hugs Ron.

Unfortunately, Ron, some fires are human caused here as well, but the "saddle fire," as it's known, was lightening caused. We've been lucky in Utah that no lives lost here this year and thus far, but unfortunately Arizona and California have had lives lost. Utah is the second driest state in the US, and we have hot summers, so yes, all too familiar with fire season like you have. If we could take the human element out of starting fires (or getting in the way),it would help a lot, wouldn't it? I remember a few years ago when someone intentionally started a fire in the foothills above our community because he wanted to go to jail where they would feed him without him having to work for it. (He was homeless.) Well, he got his wish, along with threatening a lot of people's properties and lives, and causing thousands and thousands dollars worth of damage.
Best wishes and pleasant temps to you and all.

Cool , clear and windy, the Qld border ranges got a light dusting of snow yesterday. The winds are swinging today from sw to se so coming off the sea it will be warmer today so everyone can stop whinging about the cold and I can get back to whinging about the heat. Ron.

I'll just complain about the heat here. Well over 100° while I ran some errands with a neighbor. Big mistake, she had to stop everywhere. Hot, tired, grumpy.
The saddle fire continues to grow in southern Utah, only about 5% contained. Other fires burning elsewhere, but we are not under threat of fire ourselves.
Sad about the attacks in Turkey. 😢

Rain here..
Terrible what has happened in Turkey, it is getting so scary these days. Why can't people just live in harmony. 💞

Temps have dropped some here too, but now our direct area is under "red flag warning for critical fire weather conditions" most of the day because past weather has dried everything out, current conditions of scattered thunderstorms, lightening and windy gusts throughout the day leave prime conditions for a new wildfire. Hopefully it will just stay a warning.

Sandy , good luck with the fire weather warning. It is a scary time here when they are issued. Most areas now have a flee or fight regime in place when fire weather warnings are issued. They have designated safe areas and nearly everyone has a plan if fire breaks out. Some properties are well defended but others have no defence against fire but they are advised as soon as circumstances dictate and they evacuate. It seems to work in that it saves lives despite property loss. My thoughts are with you and your neighbours, Ron.

Thankfully even tho the warning was issued for our area, we are in such an urban/suburban setting that even if a fire started where it would be most likely to start (the mountains and foothills just east of us) it would take some doing to get past said foothills or mountains through big suburban areas to our house. Doubly thankfully, the thunderstorms and gusty winds didn't hit here as predicted. It was just hot.

Expecting a high today of 89°. There are other fires in Utah, but the big one is still the Saddle Fire in southern Utah. They are making headway, tho. It is now 25% contained. They have over 700 personnel working on it. Here's a pic of some of the "hotshots" hiking off to battle it. (It's in pretty rugged terrain.) Can't imagine wearing all that gear in 100° plus heat (it's hotter there.)

Well the sun keeps threatening to come out ⛅and a thunder storm is forcast for around 1pm.. chances are as im out with my friend for the day it will turn out wet!!
Oh well brollies at the ready..☔

Cold mornings but brilliantly clear sunny days . temps are only getting to 20c + or- . Quite liveable sea temps are around 22c so people are still swimming. All year should be like this. Ron.

Ah that's good news Ron.Scott said it was only 1c last night and up to 18c yesterday ( in Boulder). They're away to Esperance with the caravan for a weekends fishing.

Hope you're keeping well.

It was hot again today, went fishing after a doc appointment for Doug (the day fishing is turning into a weekly ritual), small chance of rain in the next 24 hours. We'll see.

Cool and VERY heavy showers. Not a day for walking or cycling ,so will just have to cosy down with my book.........Life can be hard sometimes.

Sunny day, election day for the federal government. At 1100pm there is usually a concession or some one claiming victory. Not tonight 61 seats each and the rest two close to call. Quite a few pollies will not be sleeping well tonight. Today has been a good day. It is usually something they have done that has me not sleeping well. Ron.

If any of our so called pollies have been sleeping this last week, then they shouldn't have been. What a mess we have here.

Sunny today (no surprise) with a high of 89°, a low of 66°. Could be worse. The saddle fire in southern Utah had a good rain the other day and is now well on the way to containment. A lot of homes threatened, but no major structures lost. Good news, and good fire fighters.

Glad you can turn the heaters off Di. Hope you get some more rain on that fire Sandy. I know what you mean carol , sometimes I really begrudge the air some of our pollies are wasting , 'It seemed like a good idea at the time' has never cut it with me. Hugs to all Ron.

I'm afraid politicians everywhere have run amuck. 😕 The world is a crazy place these days.
It was a typical sunny Sunday summer day here today. High of 91°. The saddle fire is nearly half contained, thank goodness.

Glad the fire is being reduced. Dont worry about the air politicans waste.. its not the air we breath as they're on a different planet anyway. None of them live in the real world if you ask me.. 😞

Sun is shining at the mo long may it last ☺

Cold rainy day tomorrow , there again why waste a good day on work. Had a bad day today , tired and unwell. No rhyme or reason to the ups and downs of my health, annoying. Ron.

That's a shame Ron...you just can't win,can you ? Feel better soon.At least sleeping will be more comfortable since the temps dropped.

Another disappointing summer's day here.Cool 14c,and trying to rain....I blame the politicians !!!

Cold and wet today. I agree Carol , pollies are like quack cures , expensive and mostly ineffective and somewhere in the past someone convinced us they were necessary . Now they are just a bad habit. Ron.

It's almost identical weather here to last several days (high in low nineties and sunny). But today there are a few BOOMs interspersed because people are setting off occasional fireworks for Independence Day (some legal ones, some not). Allie never liked the 4th of July, poor doggy. Tonight will be the big professional ones our local hometown does every year, which are almost as good as any in Salt Lake City, which is a heck of a lot bigger than here, and we can watch from our front lawn. :)

Allie survived the fireworks much better this year. Unfortunately mostly because she is losing some hearing, poor thing.
Like happens so often here in Utah, I could just post a recording for the next several days' temps. Highs in the low nineties again.

Where is everyone? I'll repeat my recording, the highs today will be in the low nineties. Probably the same for the next week. Ho-hum.

Another beautiful ,sunny , cool clear winters day. We still don't have a government, starting to suspect we really don't need one, Ron.

We don't have one either.I think the ones who are left are due their summer vacation, but we have been informed we will have a government in September. So that's all right then.

Grey today, but a nice gentle breeze.Supposed to have summer this weekend hahaha

Cool and sunny, warming up next week. Going up to 25c on wed with 15c overnight. Pest man came today. Well named .Ron.

It is funny, all winter we wish for summer. When it gets here , we wish it was winter again. Spring and autumn are the only times I am comfortable. Ron.

I agree Ron.I'm not a summer person, not even a UK summer person.I never know what to wear in the summer when going out, because the weather can change in an instant. And I HATE sandals and flip flops (thongs).I always strive to be smart, but in winter I can put a decent coat and a nice scarf on,and no body can see my old jeans and sweater underneath.
!5c so far,9-30am,doesn't look promising.Going on the bikes.....now what shall I wear,hmm ?

Nineties here too, very low humidity and a little windy. Salt Lake City had a five alarm fire at an industrial storage facility near the airport which spread to a grass and brush fire which affected some power lines and threatened a power substation, caused power surges at the Salt Lake airport, and power outages to about 2200 households, and closed down a major highway. It also threatened some horses and sheep (we saw, from helicopter viewpoint) the horses being rounded up. It's all under control now, I watched most of the dramatic part on live TV, it happened all in under an hour and a half.

Iv just read that we are due a heatwave 🌞from the middle of this month till september... 30c plus but it will cause thunder storms...well il believe it when i see it☺

Warm,18c.But still overcast. It's Tynemouth's annual music festival this week-end,all of it outdoors and at the Priory.Heavy showers forecast.Olly Murs was on last night, and Lulu is on tonight, both with supporting bands. We're not going, hate crowds and are too old and miserable to care hahaha. They better stop the racket by 10pm or there'll be trouble !!!

Another sunny fine and cool day 21c to 13c , a mirror image of Sandy's recording. Couldn't agree more Carol , I see more than enough people at work in fact a lot more than I want to. It is not that I am anti social it is just that my personal space extends about a kilometre. If I was a bee I would have been stung to death years ago. Ron.
