What is YOUR weather like today??

I don't like crowds either. Today got up to 100° F in the valley, but Doug and I avoided it and the crowds by going up to the mountains to fish at a beautiful alpine like lake (almost 10,000 ft elevation) where the weather was perfect -- with a cool breeze, and a lot less people than the city or our hometown. We even caught fish. :)The weather here in the valley will be a lot cooler the next few days. YAY!

Glad u caught some fish Sandy and enjoyed a less sweltering atmosphere.
We are in the 60,s f today sun for the morning n rain in the pm or so the forcast says..

I am jealous Sandy , the only time I forget all of the garbage in life is when I am fishing. I haven't been for over a year due to health problems. I sure miss it and the release it brings. Ron.

Warm,cloudy,breezy......against our better judgement we went to the village to enjoy the fun hahaha.Managed to last an hour before we almost ran home.
But it was ok,and at least the rain has stayed away for those who've spent good money to see the final show at the Priory tonight.

Cool and wet for the rest of the week. It is 9.40 pm I'm tired and the guy next door has just gone crazy. Ambulance ,police , lots of yelling and carry on. They have seven kids and they are all yelling and crying. I hope no one is hurt. My sense of humour is long gone. If it is not next door it's the upstairs couple fighting. I suspect they are on something , they both have hacking coughs. If it is not them it's a stray cat coming in and beating up the other upstairs ladies cat. Most of the week my bp has been 160/120. I wonder why . I think the entire world has gone mad. I wonder if there any lakes to fish on mars. Ron.

Ah,Ron I really feel for you.Apart from crowds of loud, ill mannered litter louts,we hate other peoples noise. We've always been a quiet couple / family. We enjoy a laugh when we can get one mind you. It's not good listening to others rowing though.I never know whether to interfere or mind my own business. It's difficult these days.

Warming up now,but blustery showers.

Aw, I've enjoyed your stories of Shedward on LOW, Carol. I'll hate it when you shed Shedward. (;))
We saw a bald eagle swooshing by quite close when fishing Saturday. Such magnificent birds!
Ron, we'll take you next time. And in the meantime, you can stay with us in our quiet neighborhood. The first night we moved in, we had a hard time sleeping because we couldn't hear a thing, not even the traffic sound we got in our old, but otherwise quiet neighborhood in a nearby town. It is always quiet here.

P.S I haven't a clue what it is like outside yet. Almost 11:00 am and haven't even opened the draperies. Slept in after getting cramps in legs and feet all night. Doctor suggested I try tonic water (in addition to the magnesium I already take), I can't remember what he said is in, but it is supposed to help alleviate cramping.

Hi, Carol.
No signs of David for a while now. Sad really, but I need to be out all night to spot who comes along. Only Little David is marked, so I know it's another (or others) at the feeding bowl. 'Shedward', now that made me laugh, as did your comments about him. You'll miss him when he's gone. Somehow we always look out for them.

Cool cloudy and quiet this morning. I don't know what it will be like when I get home from work. Sandy the tonic water has quinine in it. t really works on cramps for me. My doctor used to give me quinine tablets but a few years ago they were stopped from prescribing it. It is ok in small doses but it is deadly if you take an overdose of the tablets. During the second world war it was the main anti-malarial drug used for soldiers in the Pacific. An old nurse once told me that there were more casualties from quinine than the enemy. I use the schwepes brand . It stops the cramps . The drug is a natural muscle relaxant . Ron.

18c and grey. It's St. Swithins day today. If it rains today, legend has it that it will rain for 40 days and nights......and guess what ?

It's the year of big winter rain events. We are in the midst of our third east coast low. Winter is normally our dry time. it rained for most of yesterday and all night. It is expected to rain for all of today and start to clear tomorrow. Down south is having its best snow season in years . Last week the alpine resorts had over half a meter of snow. My heart has been doing weird things during the week. My GP tried three times to take my blood pressure. He did an ecg . The result....Thank goodness it is your heart running erratically , I thought my machine was broken.:yfrown:

Love ya sense of humour Ron,the Doc must dread your appointments.
Very warm and sunny but very blustery.Going to a gala day down the coast later, against my better judgement. But if I don't occasionally mix with the teeming masses,I can't complain about them eh ? I think St. Swithen is on holiday in Oz.

Went fishing yesterday (in spite of a bad headache), again got out of the valley heat, it was beautiful. The sunset coming back was absolutely stunning, too bad it was because of the haze in the air from the fires still burning, including the Saddle Fire in southern Utah. The firefighting efforts keep getting hampered due to idiot civilians that keep flying drones in the area. Each time they do it grounds the air fire support for that day, which is essential because of the rugged terrain. Utah legislature just ran a special session to create new laws to greatly increase fines for running drones in the area of a fire. The bill for the new law, of course, passed with huge support.

It is still raining and still cold. Areas of the central Queensland coast have had around 300 mm. On top of recent rains that means runoff and floods. That is not uncommon in the area just very rare for winter. Brisbane is expecting temps of 28c on Thursday. with the rain and water lying around we could have a lot of mosquitos and a bad year for Ross river fever. Ron.

cool 14c and overcast and breezy.....Hope it will get better soon for our foray into the great unwashed (Life Boat Gala)We cajoled our friends into coming and we'll get the blame for the weather

Today my sis-in-law and I are traveling to Eden, Utah. Don't you just love the name? I hope it really is a paradise, but I know for a fact it will be too hot there also.

We're being threatened with a heat-wave this week, you'll love it Diane....could you not take a commode out to a quiet spot in the garden ?
It's to be cooler up here in the North East, but will be in the mid 20s.c.
Enjoy your trip to Eden Sandy, but don't eat the apples.

Sandy, we have had some bad fires this summer. I have heard about the drone problem too. I hope Arizona passes a bill like Utah did.

93° here in Glendale, Arizona at 9:28am, Monday. A bit of rain at 3am. The lawn in the courtyard looks nice and green today ( I live in an apartment complex ).

Ron, I have problems where I live too. I live in an apartment complex, always things happening here with my neighbors......a lot of drama :sign0085:

A guy upstairs always has junk sitting outside his apartment on the 2nd floor walkway.
Today it is a bicycle and a vacuum.....and clothing hung over the metal railing. I think I will go take an anxiety pill now. :angry-banghead:

It's about 32c here now at 6pm.Going to get hotter tomorrow but this being the UK it probably (hopefully) wont last.Just had a shower and feel like I'm still having one sitting here on the sofa in front of the open window.Phew !!!......Ann
I think everyone has problem neighbours,I know we do,but luckily we're self contained.Having said that they're a problem, they're all so nice, chatty and polite so I'm not complaining. Not out loud hahaha

Scottsma: Yeah, I have many, many neighbors who work hard and obey the rules and do not bother anyone. I chat with a few neighbors, some of whom have lived here for several years. I do not judge anyone and I treat everyone with respect. I need to get out of my apartment more often so I am away from the drama. Ha Ha. This is off topic, so I will chat more about the weather next time. Have a great week.

Very un winter like temps this week. Up as high as 28c by Friday. Ron.PS I would be happy if I could find a nice cool cave up in the hills with no one around.

I hope the lightening isn't too close, Ron. I'll bet the humidity is stifling with your recent Heat also.
And Carol, I'm sure you are melting compared to normal English temps.
Well, it was hot in Eden too. When we got there it was 96°f, but not an apple in site. ;)
And yes, we all have "those" neighbors. Our neighbors across the street from us (he is a plumber) decided that a toilet makes a great planter, so we have a direct view of a toilet "planter," which is bad enough, but his yard and "planter" are neglected and full of weeds. Appropriate that I put this on the crohn's forum, don't you think?

I'm heartbroken for a small community about an hour from here, ten homes were completely lost, eight others heavily damaged, plus other out buildings and vehicles lost in a fire caused by either arson or illegal fireworks. The fire started in a field right next to a housing development, and windy conditions didn't help.
Other than that, it is just dry and hot around here, in the mid nineties.

I lied. Yesterday was our 5th day this year that hit the 100° mark. We average six of those a year, so I expect we will surpass that this year.
It turns out the fire was arson. At least it is relatively small in size and out. The saddle fire is about 75% contained, but many more acres.
It's going to be hot again today.

As if the world's not in a big enough mess. What's wrong with people !!!:ymad:

The middle of winter and I had to ditch the blanket last night and revert to just the sheet. Hot again today . Not yet 7 am and already 23c ,it should be ten. Hope the fires are out soon Sandy and you get some needed rain. With all of the winter rain we have had they will need to do some hazard reduction before summer. Ron.

35C in the shade yesterday, and today is not looking much better. The cats are laying on the linoleum enjoying a fan. Must be hot in that fur coat.

Warm again, light rain now so hopefully it will feel fresher.

Apparently Kuwait is suffering highs of 54c.---- 129f........now THAT'S warm.

I can't even imagine Kuwait. (~shudder~)
Yep, eastern US and Canada have been in our local news for their heat wave, and we're not much better ourselves. (We keep getting triple digit highs, and expect another run of them next week.) I know Boston is not used to such high temps, the 97° Ron had, but that would not that unusual here. We aren't next to the sea, though. We have several wildfires burning in our state right now, too.
Would somebody turn down the sun please? Just a tad?

Hi all well my updates have gone awol of late was getting most of them except LOW,now getting that but hardly any others??.

I haven't been receiving notifications for months now. Most of the time, I almost prefer it that way now, but when I'm waiting for a particular reply it can be a pain in the butt. When I want to know if there are new posts, I just go to "quick links" which shows if there are any in subscribed threads.

I wondet what is going on the the updates Sandy. I usualy go on new posts on my fone n check in via there.. when it dawns on me iv not had any for a few days. Oh well keep on trucking as they say ☺💕

It's still 94°f at nearly 10:00 pm. Too hot.
The Antelope Island Fire has now burned 14,560 acres of the 28,022 acre island, at 80% containment. The west side of the island is 90-95% burned, where a lot of the animals foraged. They will have to bring in hay to feed the bison, etc. instead of their natural feeding. They say it will take years to get back to somewhat the way it used to be.

Supposed to rain today but it didn't. started cloudy then cleared up to a cool sunny day. Ron.

As of July 2nd our Cedar Creek Wildfire is now 100 percent contained. Almost 46,000 acres burned. No loss of life, thank goodness.

Three years ago we lost 19 firefighters who died trying to fight a wildfire here in Arizona.

Many, many other smaller fires bured recently here too, seem to be started by lightning.

I remember, Ann, the fire that trapped those poor firefighters. That was horrible! And I knew your state was battling wild fires now, too, but WOW! That was a huge, huge fire. I'm glad it's contained with no loss of life. It's amazing how much destruction a fire can cause, isn't it?
There is no way I would survive the Arizona heat. I have a brother who lives quite close to your area in Mesa, though, and a sister in the Thatcher/Safford area (not as close nor hot, but hotter than here). My sis and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews from Arizona (as well as others from here and Nevada) are on the way up here for a family reunion/camping trip. My poor sis from Thatcher now freezes in the 65-70° heat in the evenings in the mountains, even by the camp fire. I get too hot.
Here's to no more wildfires and cooler weather wherever people want relief!

Looks like we are heading for our fourth winter east coast low this weekend . A pool of polar air has drifted north without warming crossing the southern ocean and we could well see snow covering most of Tasmania and Victoria down to 400 m. It will form a ridge up to a low forming over Qld and we are expecting rain and gale force winds for the weekend. Ron.

Well, as some on the "last one wins" thread knows, my statement about here's to no more wildfires didn't hold. Three households of my Arizona family who traveled for two days with large trailers to get here got within five miles of our long reserved camp only to be told they were evacuating our campground where we were already at (arrived only shortly before). We didn't yet know there was a fire (couldn't see the fire/smoke thru the trees and no Internet or phone service there.) Eventually we were told, and told to evacuate rapidly. My sis from Nevada (and hubby) heavily damaged their pickup pulling a fifth wheel trailer in the evacuation process. We found Arizona family at bottom of road who had been waiting for hours. Nobody in evacuation was hurt thankfully, and family scattered in every which direction afterward. We ended up, after first night back at home, at a miserable too hot in day and too cold at night campsite near Az family about two hours further north.
Salt Lake area, (close to home), in the mean time, had it's ninth day in a row in triple digits. One more day and would tie a record for hot days in a row. Should be slightly cooler tomorrow, tho, thankfully.

Oh blimey Sandy what a palaver, im sorry your trip has been so disrupted. Hope you can still enjoy the rest of it hun. 💕💕

We're back from the trip, actually glad it's over. Too much drama, family and otherwise; heat; and not enough bathrooms.

same here Carol the wind would blow a dog off his leash. It is cold and we are expecting 4o knot winds tomorrow as the east coast low moves up from NSW and level with Brisbane. They expected rain and storms to accompany it but have dropped that to some heavy showers. I guess we will have to wait and see. Ron.

Hope you're keeping OK Ron.Cool weather would be a welcome relief for you,if it wasn't for the other stuff that comes with it.:yfrown:

Same old frustrating cycle Carol ,full of fluid again , double diuretics and fluid restrictions ,too much work but at least it is cool again. Ron.

Rain's just arrived over here Mandy.Very light rain at that, hopefully the breeze will keep it moving......Ooops,sun's back out again hahaha.

Dull with showers, but the flowers need showers so I shouldn't complain.

My flowers in planters on the front porch are dead. Had to leave them in the heat for a few days without water, and I'm complaining everywhere today.

Yesterday, day after we were back, it was hot, muggy, with a few drops of rain.

It has been over a week of mundane boring weather. Tonight a front that passed through Perth a few days ago hit us with a line of storms. We rarely get storms out of the north west but when they hit they are usually violent. I was driving when it hit and the freeway traffic which usually travels at 110 kph was down to 35 with torrential rain gale force winds and wild lightening. It lasted for around an hour. Not a fun night, Ron.
