4c and rain here....But not as much as Kalgoorlie has had.Rivers burst their banks, roads flooded. The most rain on record in one day, about one foot I think.

We are a tale of two extremes at the moment, Perth got its second highest rainfall in a day with 114 mm. One man is missing after his car was washed off a causeway near Esperance and it only got to 15c in the sw of WA yesterday. Here on the east coast were are in the grip of one of the most widespread heatwaves in history. It is currently 34c here in Nambour at 10.40 and expected to peak at 37-8 c by 1 pm . We sure don't need any fires. Ron.

Hope the best, Ron.

An old saying is to expect the worst and hope for the best. Expectations won today. The highest temp in Qld was 47.7c and 47.8 in NSW. Along with that we got strong north westerly winds. Unfortunately NSW got the short straw, there are currently 80 bushfires burning out of control all over NSW. There is a cold front coming up the NSW coast , unfortunately it is accompanied by very strong south easterly winds. The fire fighters have predicted that the change will actually make matters worse and the fires less predictable. The heat is going to be severe overnight. It's 9.30Pm and my thermometer is still on 35c. The ambulance service has been run ragged with heat stress related calls. It has been a very unpleasant day and night , one of the worst I can remember. Ron.

Considering Salt Lake City's annual rainfall is only 16", (but we are a few inches more, but that would still be more than our average annual rainfall):

The same face applies to all you have to deal with Ron50.
Stay safe all. It is a nice sunny day here, tho cooler than last report, a high of about 40°f. (About 4°C)

Love the picture.

I don't think we British actually have weather compared to the rest of you around the world. Really tame here, grey, cold 'ish', light flurry earlier and absolutely nothing drastic and as Scottsma states it will be up in double figures next week, yippee.
Stay safe Ron50 and all you others shifting snow and suffering high wind.

Thank you all,Scott and his family are fine.

4c and grey again.....I hate grey,it's so depressing.I won't even wear a grey sweater. And as for my hair, don't even go there. My hubs wanted to see Fifty Shades Of Grey,so I took him to the local hardware store to look at the paint samples.

Fires still burning in quite a few areas of NSW they only have a couple of days of cooler weather to get things under control before the temps ramp up again. There is a lot of property damage , one small town was virtually wiped out. Some injuries , mainly to fire fighters but no deaths. Unfortunately stock losses have been terrible. I hope they can get it all under control soon. We had record high overnight temps in a lot of western areas. The highest since records began. I am surviving but not very gracefully. Ron.

Hey all,

-12c and fairly clear. Nothing much to report. Ron50 maybe you should take a vacation and come visit Canada. We could cool you down. The paint department! Great one scottsma! Glad your family is safe. ronroush I sure hope the wind doesn't blow too hard. Strong winds can be scary, stay safe bud.

Have a great day everybody,

cmack

Today is a repeat here, too, lol. I really can't complain, I love this kind of weather. It's cool, and mostly sunny. There are a lot of areas around here, and in the western US especially, that aren't faring so well though. A lot of flooding going on because of greater than average rainfall recently and temps going up quickly to melt snow and saturate the ground. It's too bad we can't use the floods to put out some of your fires Ron. A neighbor has a son that lives in Oroville Ca, just below the Oroville Dam in California and is one of the about 200,000 that had to be evacuated with only an hour's notice and got caught in a bumper to bumper traffic jam fearing that a massive wall of water was going to come crashing down on them before they got out of the area. Thankfully it doesn't look like the dam itself (the tallest one in the US) is going to burst. Too many problems with the spillway and emergency spillway though.
Hey, cmack, I thought about posting this in another thread (Last One Wins) before you were even around, but never got around to it. It cracks me up when I see your avatar.

Not much has changed downunder. It is still hot and humid. NSW is still battling fires,37 homes gone and fifty fires still burning . Some of the larger ones are impossible to control as they are burning along a hundred and fifty kilometre front. Temps rising for the weekend. Ron.

5c but feels milder as there's no wind.Going down the coast on the bikes, really looking forward to it as it's been over a week since my last time.

Lovely day 11c but gusty wind.Almost lost my ball cap a couple of times while on the bike.

Hope and kind thoughts to our friends in N.Z. during the bush fires. Please be safe.

Warming up again. Fires still a problem . Now Christchurch over in New Zealand is having fire problems with several houses lost and the death of a pilot when one of the water bombing choppers crashed. I was watching it on the news last night and it was pretty intense over there. I hope they get things under control quickly. Ron.

ron50,

That sounds pretty bad. I hope you guys see some improvements soon. Those wildfires are very scary, we have faced some here in my lifetime as well. Very stressful times.

I pray for your country right now. Canada loves you friendly folks from the land down under.

Hoping for your safety,

cmack

Another fire near Canberra around 14 homes believed destroyed. Some injuries but no deaths fortunately. We need some serious rain. It is our wet season and so far this year we have received around ten mm. Ron.

I don't know what's going on Ron.Things are getting scarey.
We're are expecting temps up to 14c next week,IN FEBRUARY !!!! We on the North East coast haven't had snow yet or even winter weather worth whinging about. That's four years on the trot.

33c Today with the possibility of a severe storm this afternoon. Any rain would be good. Still 55 separate fires burning in NSW , several still not contained. We have a cyclone try to form up in the gulf of Carpentaria. Ron.

It's 26 degrees here in Auckland today. It's yucky and humid and muggy. And I chose to do roast chicken for dinner - doh!

Our weather is more boring by the minute. I can't wait to get outside and get the yard cleaned up and start pruning the trees. Too icy to use a ladder so I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.Oh well, c'est la vie.

We were supposed to get a storm yesterday evening and heavy rain all night. Nothing, not a drop of rain overnight. Forecast for today is cloudy. The clouds are so high there is no chance of it raining. It is starting to concern a lot of people. Ron.

30C +,high humidity and still no sign of rain. The cyclone in the gulf was named but it is buzzing around like a fly in a bottle and is expected to be downgraded again today and only have local influence. Ron

Summer is almost over but no relief from the heat, another 30c + day today. Lots of humidity but no rain. OT Sadly four American tourists lost their lives in Melbourne yesterday in one of the states worst civil air disasters. They had chartered a plane to fly out to one of the bass strait islands for a golfing holiday. Their plane crashed into a shopping complex beside Essendon airport shortly after take off. Hugs to their relatives and friends. Ron.

Yes Ron,we had that accident on the news last night.Ferocious flames. So sad for all concerned ,but lucky that the shopping complex wasn't open.

Storm Doris is supposed to make and appearance today. She was supposed to visit last month but changed her mind. It's cold and very windy so far this A.M.

Still hot and humid . I haven't even had a sheet on for months , just sleep on top of the bed with the fan blowing full speed over the top of me. I'm beginning to forget what a good nights sleep feels like. I am beginning to fear we may have another four week winter again this year. It really gets to people living up in the top end. Some of them I know refer to it as the mad. A couple of months when people are just too hot and bothered and usually have a few to many drinks trying to cool down, always angry! Ron.

Today was awesome! Sunny and mid 50'sF. Lots of snow melting. Winter is not over but we will enjoy these nice days.

Well Doris hasn't shown up here (yet) There was heavy rain during the night but the sun is trying really hard to make an appearance now.6c temp and no wind.

They have predicted rain again over Sunday and thru next week. We will have to wait and see what happens. The temps still have not gone below 30c and at night it is still around 22-3 c. Still lots of fires burning in NSW and we had a couple of local fires today. The scrub is brown and dry. It takes very little to start a fire.Ron.

We have the tail end of storm Doris as I post.Temp.down to 3c,heavy rain and strong wind. But she'll be away over the North Sea by evening. There's been the usual traffic problems and power cuts in other parts of the UK,so we've been lucky.

Well, it's Doris Day here, lol. Tis blowing a hooley out there. I have a couple of tiles come crashing down, had a fine flurry earlier but it's supposed to move on soon. Let's hope. Tis okay to get the one day of bad weather once in a while. I'm feeling for you Ron50 and Cmack.

Stay safe all
ps. forgot to mention the power cuts, short at nothing too much to worry about at the moment.

2c at 9-20am cloudless blue sky and low winter sun,but it is getting higher in the sky as each week passes. It's a bugger when cycling.

They predicted showers today but again nothing. They are predicting showers for most of next week. I will believe it when I see it. Ron.

Same as yesterday, mild and windy. We were going to go to an outdoor market today but doubt that it will be on.All the stuff gets blown about. So might go to a garden centre for some ideas.

We had two short but heavy showers today. That is virtually the first rain we have had this year. I sure hope we get some more. It did not cool anything down , today was our 30th consecutive day of 30c or higher. yuk. Ron.

Cloudy yesterday but no rain. Supposed to be cloudy with showers and storms today but woke to a completely cloud free sky. Ron.

Despite a bad forecast it's ok.Cold but sunny.Went on the bikes yesterday just in case, and planning to do the same today, just in case......

Well it is official , it was the driest summer ever recorded since the start of recordings for the sunshine coast. We have had less than a quarter of our average rainfall for summer. The predictions for autumn are for dry hot conditions. Our local water supply is visibly shrinking. At nearly 2/3 of the cyclone season gone not one cyclone has formed off the east coast. we normally have between three and five. Ron.

Notifications are back again. I'm still here. sleet and snow for part of yesterday, Ron50 would have loved it. Hoping for his weather over here.

Happy 1st of March everyone. I feel so much better now it's March. It's like getting to the light at the end of the tunnel. shame about my dental abscess and annoying Crohns. Still they don't stop it from being March, am I a cheerful bunny? lol, I have quite a few primroses, daffs, crocus out and my clematis plants are gaining leaves as are the roses. Whoopee for a bit of colour.
