She's put herself on a diet and lost weight. Will take her to the vet if she loses more today. I cooked her chicken, bought her the hoggie food which is suspiciously like kitten biscuits that I also bought for her, she doesn't want live mealworms and isn't doing that well. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

-6C expecting some light snow and colder temperatures, it should help firm up the bogs and waterways. Brought in the pickup truck for its annual rustproofing yesterday, the place was slow and awfully busy, but now protected from all that salt they constantly pour onto the roads. If there is one thing I don't like about winter its road salt and the mess it makes, and the visibility problems of dirty spray to see through the windshield and mirrors.

Rain most nights . temps remaining below average (joy , joy , joy) It will warm up towards the end of next week. My house and pet sitting duties end on Sunday when my ex returns from Spain. Not looking forward to returning to my unit but I will enjoy not travelling , my own bed and eating regular meals again. Ron.

I don't think I've ever heard Ron50 say the words Joy, Joy, Joy. I'm so pleased for you Ron.

Sunny and windy. So woollies out drying as they're a nightmare to dry being wool arrans from Scotland. Will try to do a few 5 minute stints in the garden as soon we must pay for garden waste to be taken away.

-22C this morning, bright sunshine, the warmth on my back I hardly notice the cold when visiting the outhouse. Had a good ski yesterday, and will probably do the same today. Tuff, I understand that the temperatures went off the cliff in that part of the province, going down nearly 10 degrees in one hour, that is a large contrast.

Woke up to snow on the ground, grey skies but only -3. By Tuesday they're predicting 7C and rain, so winter's not here yet.

-7C some light snow last night, I am enjoying the early start to winter, it sure beats the constant rains and biting flies that appeared endless on the cold damp summer we had. Spooky, I hope Hedgie is going to be okay.

No, seriously! I was about to take her off to the vets and wildlife specialists having tried to get her to eat cat food (every brand) hedgehog food, kitten biscuits, mealworm dried and live, live beetles, apple, strawberries, low lactose kitten milk, roast chicken, sliced meats.... and then I read they are fond of minced meat. So off I trotted to the shop with one last hope, and I put a lump of it in front of her and lo and behold she scoffed it.

Now, I think I have bought her some time away from the vet. Mind, this could be one expensive hedgehog juvenile. I will see what tomorrow brings. Thanks Bufford.

Lots of short but heavy showers on the last two days. My ex got back from 6 weeks in Spain and Portugal this morning. She has declared that no more will she go roving. The cat didn't even acknowledge the change of shift. I'm home and it is still 21c at mid day. Ron.

6c but feeling colder due to a gusty wind...Managed an hours cycling but I was glad to get home, although cycling into the wind warmed me up.....it only seems like yesterday I was whinging it was too warm'
.

D., glad hedgie is eating. Our young gull (squeaky) has decided he prefers brown bread instead of crab stix now.But no doubt he'll change his mind when he turns up tomorrow.Talk about spoilt.

-6C cloudy, a good day to get off to a slow easy start, I'm wiped out from the first visit to the outhouse, after getting the fire lit. Spooky, glad to hear Hedgie is doing better. Scottsma, sounds like squeaky enjoys both surf and turf. I just went out to the outhouse and it was a serious 2nd visit, now I am totally exhausted, but relieved.

Sadly, the eating didn't last and today he was off to the wildlife specialist who is back from Sheffield. Shall phone them tomorrow to find out if the little hedgepig has survived.
Nice you have a squeaky. I have a cat called Squeaky.

bloody freezing. Hedgie made it through the night, still isn't interested in food, but is being rehydrated. Will phone later in the week for an update.

-3C Cloudy, I shoveled out my parking spot at the end of the driveway yesterday, slow day with little energy, and today appears to be the same. Thinking about Hedgie.

Fine and a max of 24c , about as good as it gets for summer. Hope your little mate is ok Di, Ron.

It's raining and the snow is starting to become slush. Anybody want about a dozen wild turkey that love to break bird feeders? :ybatty:

It's Thanksgiving for some this month so they'll be queueing up Chris.

Mild 10c,no wind, hallelujia,so going for a bike ride later.

26c today and mostly sunny, same tomorrow then a rainy weekend with 23 c days. Dianne , sooner or later I am going to pay for this mild weather. Ron.

@Ron50, It must be like being on the holiday of a lifetime. You don't have to go anywhere and the weather isn't as bad as it normally is. Prob the arthritis will kick in, lol.

So drab and grey here. I am looking forward to December 21st very much.

@Cmack, catch one of those and post it over. There's still time for it to get here. Nice bland food for my tummy. Alternatively tell one the weathers better here and provide flight directions for me please.

Be honest Diane, you wouldn't eat it,you'll keep it and spoil it,and call it Terry or tina.....:drink::lol2:

Yep snowed the other day, now just ccccold.....wow didn't think pain could get worse....yep joints hate the cold.

Welcome to the world of 'nutty'. Do you have squirrels there looking for the last of the nuts to hide for winter? You probably are a natural whisperer, that's why the turkeys are around your place. They love you and the nature you live amongst. Really, I am jealous. Sounds so heavenly though.

Typically Australian even our turkeys are strange. We have a native scrub turkey. They look like a turkey that has been on a strict diet. They don't have nests as such , they build a nesting mound of mulch and bury their eggs in it. The heat generated by the mulch incubates the eggs. They are self sufficient from the time they dig their way out of the mound. They fly well just after birth but gradually lose the ability as they get older and bigger. Eventually they can just get enough lift to roost in low trees. They are fearless and pretty much wander anywhere they want. Gardeners hate them and people quickly learn not to feed them, you will never get rid of them if you do. Ron.

That's some kind of turkeys Ron50. Ours here are very fearless as well and I think they must be at least 20Lbs average size, some being noticeably larger. They are able to fly over 10 feet high even at that weight.

Not a bad day but blustery.Hoping the wind will drop so we can go on the bikes later.
My hubby is a "feeder" and a rescuer. He'd rather have a garden full of wildlife than a nice garden. If people have something negative to say he'll tell them how lucky they are if that's all they have to moan about.Luckily (or not) it's just birds. The wildlife mostly stay in the park over the road

-10 with 5 cm of snow last night. I had a new culvert installed in the driveway while the weather was mild yesterday. There was no trouble for the backhoe operator digging the hole as there is no frost yet in the ground. Now that its done, winter can settle in, those damp mild conditions we had are bad for my arthritis.

Hi folks been a while since i was on here. Dont get updates these days and my memory is bad so i forget to check 🤔
Glad to see the old gang are still playing.
Weather wet am dry n chilly pm. Thats about all i can say on the subject...
Love to all 💞💞

Great to see you back here. My memory is disgraceful too. So is the weather, which is why i'm whinging. Mind, it's not as bad as in other countries. Ron50 is having a great summer.

Really good to see you again Butterfly. My memory is about the only thing still working. Only 21 c this weekend Di and some more rain. Ron.

Aw thanks Di n Ron. Im useless unless prompted. Need alarms on my phone to remind me to take my tablets lol☺. By the way Ron my memory is rubbish and so is pretty much the rest of me. Joints are protesting far to much of recent. Hips are ready to go the knackers yard. Cant get comfy with them n if i stay in 1 position to long they seize up. Oh well moan over. Gosh not back here 2 secs n im whinging.
Sorry for the moan.
Anyway for a brighter outlook ... move to Aus its sunny there 😎😃😃
Oh apperently not Ron said its raining.🤔

Still have sunshine, but heavily iced up vehicle this morning with a few streaks of ice on the windscreen inside. Apart from that i'm now back home from hospital appointment and warm inside.

-2C and some snow coming down. I don't know what it is about age and memory, but as age goes up, the gray matter can't seem to cut it. Its getting to the point that I need to paste posted notes to my forehead.
Sometimes I need something from down stairs, I go down, put wood in the furnace and come back upstairs without getting what I needed. I stand their wondering what it was I needed with empty hands. To my detriment as I remember much much later that it was the chicken I needed from the freezer to thaw out. Sigh, spaghetti yet again.

Sounds way too familiar Bufford. If anyone interrupts my train of thought at work it takes forever to find the part I put down in a safe place whilst I am dealing with the interruption. Same at home . I think my brain is overfull and it is just too easy for it to go off on a tangent. Ron.

Not a bad day all in all.Up to 7c and still.......Kalgoorlie, where our son and his family live, have had a tremendous storm.Power off and trees down. His garden shed is missing but alas all the rubbish that was in it is still there. They're safe thankfully, that's what matters.

Wet and horrible here. Bit like a British Summer I suppose.
Am going to phone again about little hedgie.
Talking of Summer days, it sounds like Ron50 is having a British Summer day. Sad about Kalgoolie, hope your family are safe though, C.

2c but gloriously sunny, so out on the bikes soon.According to the long range forecast we're to have a snowy winter this year. We've had next to nothing for at least 3-4 yrs so it has to show up some time.

-12C Winter appears to be well established, it feels like winter with more snow expected. I am confident enough to start shoveling snow to cover the rough portions of the trail going to the remote cabin that it will stay for the season. I do this out of concern that the snowmobile will get stuck, and want to avoid this. The ski trail is firming up nicely, I think we are in for a good winter at this point.

-13C currently and the sidewalks are frozen slush. It's been slippery for four days. Tomorrow's forecast is +3 and rain. If that freezes too, we're in trouble.

Bufford, That sounds so tranquil and at peace with nature. Wish I was there. Yes, hedgie is at peace now. I am sad but we did do everything we could for him. Thanks.

Woke up to rain again this morning. temps revised down to 22c for the next couple of days with lots of cloud and showers. Ron.

Now, Cmack, that expression is solely for the use of us Brits. It's boringly gloomy here today. Carry on with that lovely Summer, Ron. Glad it's a good one for you.

Hope your aches and pains are not hurting with all the damp weather Ron.

7c and raining here. But no wind and no low sunshine to fry the eyeballs.

-12 blustery with a few flurries. I packed snow on the first large hill yesterday, today I may work on the next section. There is a large timberwolf in the area, but I have no concerns as they are extremely shy yet beautiful if one gets a chance to see one.

Once again I awoke to steady rain. My pain levels are always high these days Di , the weather does not seem to make it better of worse. My blood pressure is my major worry at the moment , it is weird . I take my bp every morning for my nephrologist. Monday it was 120/101 . By wed it was 157/77 with a pulse rate of 57. I never feel well when it is fluctuating daily. I See my neph today. He will look wise and do nothing. Ron.

RAINING but mild. The temp.during the night was equal to the day time temp.at this time of year at 10c........Buff.I love wolves.I used to support a charity that cared for European wolves many years ago. They are smaller than Timber wolves.I know it's tough for you sometimes, but what an idealic life.Unlike poor Ron in Aust.Feel better soon cobber.

40 mm of rain today and only 19c . Hot down south . they are putting with mid thirties. Saw my nephrologist today. He said my kidneys were doing ok. I said what about the rest of me . Not so good. He commented on my erratic blood pressure. He said most doctors consider that a really poor prognosis. But he did say I didn't look like I was about to die anytime soon at least not before he sees me again in three months. I like wolves too (at a distance since I watched the grey) . Naturally we don't have wolves downunder just dingoes. Poor old dingoes they always get bad press even the word dingo is used to describe some one nasty and untrustworthy. Nature didn't even give them a bark , just a howl , how unfair is that ? Ron.

Well I suppose if the doc.'s unconcerned you needn't worry to much.Unless he's a really crap doc that is.I expect you're on the highest dose of BP meds.so there's nowhere else to go.Take good care of yourself Ron and make sure you have a good diet.I know most men are the absolute worst at looking after themselves when they live alone.

-12 and a bit chilly in the house this morning, I stoked the fire prior to breakfast and now its warm. Yesterday I did a fair section of trail and am at the halfway mark. Once I got past the hill I worked on I got nervous that the snowmobile will get stuck, as it is a long way home and I am not very strong anymore.
Wherever I see a spot where I might become stuck I shovel snow on these to level out the trail. The work is tiring, but it pays off knowing that I should not get stuck, and the snowmobile ride is easier on my body with a smoother ride.

Nothing special here, slightly above freezing. I wish I could help you with those trails Bufford. I'm good on a sled and strong enough to get it unstuck, although sometimes getting them unstuck is still difficult. Lifting them up tires a guy out quite quickly. All my machines are in excess of 500 lbs without fuel or all the snow and ice packed into the bogeys. I'm not sure what yours weighs. I miss riding my sleds. The government has created this new registration program and all my sleds were either given to me or I paid cash and have no receipt. I'm not sure how to go about registering something I can't prove I own. Until I figure that out here they sit.

Cmack, that sounds terrible. I hope you can register them soon. I'm feeling for Bufford, but the thought of seeing wolves, now i'm jealous. All I got this morning was neighbours cat killing a jackdaw. I tried to help it but all it did was bleed all over me and died. I think i'm one fish missing too and that blighter spends his days hunting or fishing. So sad. He got a telling off this morning, believe me.

Very chilly out there, though I still have fushias blooming and now my daffs are pushing through the soil. Sunny though.

6c and not sure what it wants to do.Started eyeball dazzlingly sunny but clouding over now.Heavy rain and flooding in some parts of the UK yesterday.Forecasters are predicting more world wide earthquakes next year.More than there was this year I mean.

Woke to rain again. The temps are rising tho. The English cricket team started playing the first test of the tour in Brisbane today. I'll blame them. I have a good doctor Carol , he thinks my blood pressure may be auto--immune like everything else I have and he freely admits they know bugger all about most auto immune problems. I do look after myself and eat well. It is probably the only reason I am still alive plus I enjoy cooking. Ron.

-7C damp and gray, the air feels as though something is coming, but the wind direction doesn't feel favorable for snow. Cmac, you should contact the registration office and explain your situation and how to resolve it. There should be a way to register a used sled. I don't know why governments create these hurdles, and then have the nerve to rob us through taxes. I'm having issues with property taxes rising faster than my pensions, and have launched a formal complaint. I envy the timberwolf, and other wildlife with their simple life style that is both free and free spirited, without the bureaucracy. Perhaps I will have better luck in my next life if there is one.

Hard frost over night but thawing fast in the sun.No wind and cloudless blue sky.Going for a cycle at the coast then fish and chip lunch for hubby.Trouble is,I hate to wear too many clothes on the bike so will have to peddle really fast to keep warm....note to self.watch out for icy patches....

+2C ugly outside, gray and everything is soaking wet from the snow melting from the trees. It should be short lived with colder drying air returning later in the day, no worry about losing snow pack at this point. Still it makes life difficult for doing anything outside, its an indoor type of day for now.
The Ministry of Finance sent me a friendly reminder that I am to hand over yet another $300 in property taxes. War is full on now, I will pay them the balance after I subtract their increases that go beyond the cost of living index that my pension is based on. I'll take it to court if I have to. Somebody has to stand up to them as I am far from alone on this, they already took $150 from the new carbon tax levi on my heating fuel. My pension is small due to work interruptions all my life from the Crohn's, putting me below the poverty line according to the statistics, but the tax man stands patiently at the back door so to speak, like the reaper.

Cloudy but warm . State election today. Don't know why we bothered , looks like a hung parliament. I think elections are probably one of the most dangerous inventions of all time. Ron.

Be careful. Properties with three years of unpaid property taxes are offered for sale by auction. You could lose your place. I think the first 30 minutes with a lawyer are free, you should seriously talk to one.
