*throws cheap cannon digital camera out window to die a slow death in the snow*

i am jealous.

you take such amazing pictures! you should shoot for a calendar or something.

HEy! Don't throw your camera out!
You never know when you're going to get that perfect shot.
And a good photo is determined by the photographer, not how good
or bad your camera is. I've taken some great cheap pinhole camera shots.
Literally a cardboard box.

I've taken a CRAPLOAD of art history classes including
photography, and one thing I can tell you is that it is nearly ALL in the eye of the
beholder.

So keep taking photos!!!! I don't care if you think they look bad, someone might
think it's the greatest thing ever!

RHOV! Shame on you! You KNOW your pics are beautiful too!
Your black raspberry is my favorite. Now stop pouting and go shoot some more pics.

Did someone say calendar?? How about a Crohn's forum hot-chicks calendar?? (Or skinny chicks hyped up on pred - whatever...)

haha, mbh, you should ask drew to shoot a calendar of you...
...naked.

(did i say that out loud? oops...)

I have a cheap Nikon. Listen to Cassie, she knows what she's talking about.

Not sure if this qualifies for the photog thread, but it's a heck of a lot of snow, and I think it looks cool.
(Uh - we didn't pile it there - that's how it fell.)

Aww I wanna adopt 'em darnit!

It's rare, ladies and gentlemen - but it does happen.

And really - what is the proper response to that?? I typed someting, then erased it, then typed again, but I just couldn't click submit.

I can see why you couldn't limit to less than 5 Mini.
They are ALL great!!
It's sad - but I gave them icanhazcheezeburger speech bubbles in my head.
#1 - I KNOW I have more hair than this guy. Huh? What's an uzi??
#3 - Who put this thing on my head? I SAID WHO DID IT????
(And I want to know that too. Did YOU do that Mini??)
#4 You talkin ta me??
#5 Oo oo ah ahhhh. Me want banana.
I know - not real funny, but the 'oops' thread is wearing on me.
Very cute baby!

Those ducks are crazy! Don't they fly south for the winter or something?
We have a whole bunch of Canadian geese over here that are permanent
residents. They got one taste of California life and didn't wanna go back!

I like the composition with this one Lisa. One thing, if I may critique is that with the way the sun is laying in the sky if you were to go onto what looks like the road there, the reflection and light I think would look amazing :) Wonderful photo though.

Thank you :).

Actually I took that from on top of the bridge...and that's the creek frozen over which as you can see is a regular deer path up there.

basked outside with my baby earlier today. Took some shots

Here is my smart boy trying to eat the cement...
turklickcement_web.jpg

BUTT SHOT! The cement is nice and warm on his tummy, which is why he's low to the ground :)
turkbuttweb.jpg

Strutting his stuff...

And the house-iguana that he is, here he is retreating back inside. :)

We saw over 20 deer in a park today. Poor little things can barely find food it seems.

Then we feed the chickadees. (Seeds on daughter's head - haha!)
3211967022_e0ac3cae65_o.jpg

Not the best pic, I guess the bird would have shown up better if it wasn't up against blue jeans.
Learning tool though. I was out of batteries 2 minutes later so I couldn't get any more. =(

Bahh, you get proper snow... all we get is snow that turns into slush 2 hours later. We had a fantastic snowfall yesterday evening, it all gone today...:voodoo: :depressed:

send some over here dan, living on the south coast we rarely get the white stuff.
sharon xx

Some of you have seen this if you chose to keep me as a friend elsewhere and pay attention... its from June/08 (but I didn't find it until a couple weeks ago i think....). I entered it in an actual photo contest, but won't know until August how the results turn out. What are my chances of this beating out probably thousands of other entries?? I'd say slim.

I think that is one of the best composed photographs I've seen of yours Lisa. You captured the sky and water reflection really well. The sun is slightly blown out but I love it!

Why thank you ! That was taken with my old Canon Powershot A540. So there was no fancy sunset setting to try bring out the colour. It really was that blinding.

If it's good enough to win one of these prizes I'd be more than thrilled!

Thanks! ...yeah you probably wouldn't like the cold so much lol. It's been beautiful out, right around 0 C, but to most of you that's considered cold!

Hey all. I just noticed this thread, about a year late. All of the shots you guys posted are incredible. I've recently started getting into underwater photography. You can check out some of my pics at:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/album.php?page=1&aid=2159722&id=5303999

If you can't see the photos, just send me a friend request.

I just ordered a Canon G10, with an Ikelite housing and an enormous strobe. I can't wait to get underwater to try it out.

I had to sell all my camera gear to pay bills so I haven't had any new shots since December. What did you shoot with Creepy?

I'll post some of my photos here sometimes soon, didn't know this thread was around so thanks for bringing it back up :)

I'm going diving in Thailand in April, so I will hopefully have some good shots to post in a month or so.

I've inherited my brothers old fuji s7000. It's not a bad camera.

And my family will KILL ME if they see this picture online, but it's one of my favourites in a longgg time (which I'm give copies of to my family). It's priceless!:

My parents got my a new cam to cheer me up. Here's my first shot with it.

These are ALL OVER Downtown Portland, they're called "Benson Bubblers" :)

Ok Ihave to have a DSLR for a class I'm taking next semester... anyone know where I can get one cheap WITH everything... I found a vender on eBay that is selling for like 380... I was looking at the Nikon D40s.

Katie, all my shots in this post are with a D40 .. Ritzcamera is selling a "kit" with the body and 18-55mm lens for 450.00 which is a STEAL. When I bought my first D40 I paid just over 800.00, so it's come down in price _a lot_

As I mentioned my parents got me this new one to cheer me up and I got a second lens kit setup for a total of 600.00 which includes a 55-200mm telephoto.

The D40 is rugged as hell too. I dropped my first one not long after getting it from about 5 feet up onto concrete and other than a few scratches the the body and lens that was attached worked perfectly for another 2 years until I sold them.

Yeah my professor said he likes Ritz camera... here's the one I found online HERE... say it was a floor sample camera and comes with a one year warranty... but I'm a student and I'm not really liking the idea of buying this expensive of a camera (why won't my nikon coolpix work ?) :) I'm sure I'll fall in love with the camera though once I get it.

As an eBay Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
That looks like a good deal and the seller has a good rep so I don't see why you shouldn't go for it. Saves you some money for future lens upgrades if you want. I'm sure you'll fall in love with it. You can do so much more with SLR's .. that's my main reason from moving from a point and shoot.

Dandelion blow.
I was hoping to capture the floaty things in air, but after 25 or so shots, I gave up =(

Does your camera have a continuous/multi-capture mode? It can be useful for action shots.

I love the spooky moon MBH.
We had a spectacular moon on Saturday night, but I couldn't get the camera to focus right.
I should have brought out my tripod.

That's the first moon I have ever tried to get Dan. I hate to admit it was on auto mode. I took 6 and all but one focused.
Yeah Creepy - I do have burst mode on my camera. I use it all the time, but duh I was trying so hard to change to a good shutter speed I forgot about burst mode. I will try again - thanks!

edit - okay, I tried the dandelions again with burst mode. Took 46 frames with 4 different flowers, and none of them turned out the way I was hoping. Poor little girl got sick of blowing them too. I quit.
And THEN - I tried to get water droplets falling on an azalea, and none of them turned out right either. Guess I'll just stick with what I'm best at... cut-n-paste!
