hi Guys. our son wants to shout us an overseas holiday. dont know where to go. Canada appeals, but not sure if i want to go anywhere. maybe some one could suggest some where nice and convince me to go. son said we haven't been to Russia, but that wasn't my first choice.

You know what I would say, Trev, Utah! Unfortunately, the only salt water fishing you could do around here is for brine shrimp, in the Great Salt Lake. They are about the only living things that can survive in the the salinity of that lake.

What would you want in where you go? Activities, scenery, cultural places, historical places, adventure? It seems that should help define where you go. Are you adverse to or particular enjoy any kind of weather? That also could make a big difference. If you could picture yourself in an ideal place on earth, what would it look like?

Bobbie, if that is Kirsty's cake, what did yours look like? a piece if charcoal? (How are you coping without your daughter around, by the way? Things okay?)

oh, I win ...

hi Sandy, i stayed home the last few times the family went overseas cause they like shopping, they are trying to bribe me with a fishing charter, but i think i would hold them back as i cant walk far and fatigue is an issue. if i can find somewhere nice that doesnt involve a long flight, well who knows.

Boy, can I relate!

I haven't meant to ignore you, I just keep changing my response so taking forever for semi-intelligent answer. See? I even hold up conversations. I'll answer this better tomorrow as my brain is a little fatigued, too!

If you want to see russia but not spend a whole vacation there come to finland and make a day trip over. They have lots of different kinds of trips. One is where you go ti Viapor by a ferry. Mom did that last summer and she liked it. Also From here its an easy trip over to estonia and Sweden too.

Of all the places I have been I really liked Iceland.. so I would suggest that. Out of the more south Europe places I really liked Slovenia. We spent a couple days in Lublijana, but nt sure there is enough to do there for more then that time. So maybe combine it with some other places.

So there.. Europe advertised now aswell. But just go to Utah. ;)

OMG Rober. Your win has been wayyyyy tooooo looooong. I wil have to take that from you ASAP as in NOW.

London

Is the ninth largest city in the world and the largest metropolitan area in the European Union. If London was a country it would be the eighth largest in Europe.

London has more international visitors than any other city in the world: 15.3 million per year - the next highest are: Hong Kong with 12 million, Bangkok and Singapore with just over 10 million, followed by Paris with 8.7 million and New York with 7.7 million.

More languages are spoken in London than in any other city in the world (270).

London’s ring-road the M25, is the largest orbital in the world (at 122 miles).

The Monument is 202 feet high, because it is 202 feet from the base to where the Great Fire of London started in 1666 (the King's baker’s shop, Thomas Farynor's in Pudding Lane).

The junction of Edgware Road and Marble Arch is the site of the original Tyburn Tree, London’s official execution place, where more than 50,000 people were hanged.

There are 6,128 licensed restaurants in London, a remarkable 22% of Britain's restaurants. They include menus from more than 50 major country cuisines, and 36 Michelin star rated restaurants.

The current London Bridge, is the third with that name to span the Thames. The first stood from 1209-1831 and famously contained houses and shops.

London would be cool to see, really do want to go there some day, but I also like wide open spaces. There is nothing like being in the middle of a gorgeous dessert landscape, with nothing but silence, except an occasional bird, for miles and miles. You have to be comfortable in your own skin and with the universe to like that. I also like sitting in a cool breeze near a mountain lake or stream with the smell of a forrest of pine and/or quaking aspen trees, little critters like squirrels and birds running around, a hammock, a blue sky and a good book.

I moved from the city to a coastal tolwn when I got married, it was so lovely, I love the quiet instead of the hustle and bustle, love watching the waves crashing on the beach and being able to walk to the beach if I want to.

One thing I really wish we had around here was a coast. There is something calming about watching the water, and I love the feel of the sand melting out from under toes.

You have become our encyclopedia on here. What happened to GRRR?:ymad:

I will! Can't believe it is one week from today! Our students are so exited toO! I burn like a lobster. :lol2: so I will be putting many layers of sunscreen on.

I bet, are you concerned about tornadoes while there? What a scary place to be this time of year. But, no place is safe anymore, is it? I will just trust the good Lord to keep you all under His care!!!:ghug:

Especially lately! I watched the special on TV tonight about it. Wow, what a story! You be safe and stay cool. It will probably be hot there.

UGH! We had a week of that and I thought oh no, a really hot summer. But it is cooling down now compared to that! Texas, I imagine to be so hot and unbearable. I could never live there. I would never go outside!

It is hot here from June to October. A few summers ago it was over 100 degrees for 90 consecutive days. No joke. It was bad. In the summer we stay inside, as much as possible, then go swimming at night.

That's what I would do too if I had a pool!!!:lol2: Don't know why you don't move to Michigan in the summer! haha! I know you can't....

What? The Rocky, Salt entrusted shoreline of the 2nd most salty body of water in the world isn't coastline enough?

1st Test, Lord's
England won by 170 runs

2nd Test, Headingley
England won by 247 runs

Nope - I remember watching us thrash you at the cricket

I think Guptill hit 189 runs scoring his second century in two games. I would love to have been there to watch that :)

Taking the win. We are having real summer weather here. Hot hot hot and sunny. Its fine for now but if it continues like this for long I cant take it. But all good for now. :D

You sound like me Sanni! I hate the hot weather and stay indoors unless there is a pool. But, I can't be in the sun much either!

I definately avoid direct sunlight. I prefer the shade. We dont have AC in out homes here so indoors gets pretty hot too. May have to dog out the table fan to get a bit of a breeze going. Outside in the shade is nice with a small breeze. Went to get icecream with a friend oun our walk wit the dogs. Was perfect.

Fans definately help and A/C is better. Too bad you can't get a unit you can move on wheels from room to room. They seem to work from what I here!
I am going to go make something to eat,be back hun!

I have fans, must get them down from the loft (attic) It's a MUST in the kitchen as the sun beats in all day,the blinds don't really help.I was just thinking,we've moaned about the cold long winter and few of us really like the summer.Sunburn, allergies (me),insect bites, other peoples sweat and B.O.,crowds everywhere, people wearing shorts and swimsuits who really shouldn't,sleepless nights etc,etc,etc..........roll on Autumn hahaha

people wearing shorts and swimsuits who really shouldn't,

:lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2:

I love winter. And fall too. My favorite season in fall. Or late late summer once it has cooled down again. Anything over 25C (about 80F) is too hot for me.

18C is much more comfortable for me Sanni.I'm surprised you can tolerate 25C but I suppose after your winters it takes you a while to warm up:lol2:

If 25 is the days highes then mornings and evenings should be less then that. At 25 I can wear a tanktop and no long sleeves. At 20 I still need something to keep me warm. ;) Here it does not cool down for the night even.. with all that never setting sunlight. Thats why I like the end of summer more.. it gets darker and cooler then at night but the days can still be warm.

Well unfortunately I have to keep covered as I have a sun allergy.I can wear short sleeves but have to use at least factor 20.If I forget to do my feet,I nearly climb the walls with itchiness. Also have to pay attention to my ears and neck as my hair is very short.....:cool2:.....:ymad:

hi Kirsty, i made a roast for tea, and now debs got called back to work, late tea now.

I'm going to gripe, because I'm good at it. spent half the night yesterday in the emergency room because I was experiencing "simple partial seizures" that wouldn't go away. I didn't realize that seizure med had run out and weren't in my pll sorter. I get an overwhelming urge to get up and go somewhere when that happens (not unconscious, just "altered"), and get agitated. they have to give me med to calm me down. slept all day for some reason. expecting company tomorrow, don't want it.

Just dropping in before I go back to bed to say hello! Noone was on earlier!
Enjoy your lamb Trev and Kirsty, hello!:ghug:

Good evening you lot. I am so tired. Exhausting day.. had to do a longer day at work since I hade some training to learn new things (which is good) but then to get all my work done I had to stay longer.. and with blood tests in the morninf that aded an other extra hour to my day.. poooooped!

My dinner to day is bacon and asperagus pasta. nom nom.. you all keep you sheep. ;)

Sanni, your pasta sounds great! Sorry you are so tired!
Carol, how's you? How's the weather today?Oh. I WIN!

Me good Ta T.,Been to shops this morning and met a friend for coffee and walked Alfie 3 times so far.Just washed the lunch dishes so that's me done for the day.Very sunny and it was nice to go out in summery clothes for a change BUT I will have parka withdrawal symptoms if it goes on too long.hahaha...........WINNING

Sounds like you had fun. You said you have lunch dishes done, and that it is for today. Don't you eat dinner? Or does Les do the dinner ones?:lol2::lol2::lol2:
We all know~ NO!

No we don't eat dinner T. We never eat later than 3pm usually.Les makes himself a sandwich at 9pm and I sometimes have cereal, but only if I'm really hungry.I have NEVER cooked after 5pm in my life, and I only cook one meal a day.

I usually only cook one meal a day as well. But we have our cereal for breakfast and sandwich for lunch and dinner is the cooked meal. Funny how different we are. The Italians~ Well they make eating an art form. They do it all day like it's their job. No offense, my hubs is Italian and so was my Great Grandmother and Grandmother 100%.:lol2:

Glad to be back. I've got a great big smile on my face. See ya soon!
