Isn't life fun Robert, one persons drama, is another's natural way of being. I guess it's about making an informed choice. What did you eat for dinner that night?

I decided against horse! Just doesn't seem right - but it's not logical not to eat horse. Went for the safe option - chicken. There was an Italian there last night he ordered Italian liqueurs for everyone - Limoncello - what a great drink!

We sell horse meat here as pet food. Some people but it to eat, but it does not go through the same rigorous process as meat for people to eat. That's why I choose not to eat it. Have you ever heard of the 'wild food festival' here? You should google it

So how do you like Switzerland? See any volcano activity? I heard they are becoming restless these days!

Well I don't know about volcano's but based on a 24 hour trip I am going to say Switzerland is the world's most expensive country - any takers?

Why not eat horse meat? I know some salami has horse meat in it. And I had a horse meat hamburger in Slovenia couple years back. And they sell horse meat as meat for people to eat sometimes.

If I understand correctly the horse meat scandal (at least the one we have here) is because the mis labeling of the meats and that is what causes the scandal. Not that the meat is not edibe.

How do people afford the everyday cost of living? They must all be professional salesman like you!

Look what I found - Zurich - 6th most expensive place to live in the world (Geneva was 4th)

6. Zurich, Switzerland (Tied)

Zurich, home to a number of banking giants such as UBS and Credit Suisse, moved one spot higher this year from 7th in 2011 and 9th in 2010.

Zurich is an attractive location for international firms looking to take advantage of Switzerland’s low tax rates. Expatriates are also drawn to Zurich’s high quality of life. The city ranks third in the world when it comes to education, tax, and security as motives for purchasers to buy luxury property, according to Knight Frank.

While most European cities have dropped in the rankings, the strength of the local currency, the Swiss franc, has boosted the cost of living in Zurich. While Mercer ranks Zurich as the sixth most expensive city, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) ranks it as number one. EIU’s survey covers 130 cities and takes into account 160 products and services.

Monthly Rent, Luxury 2 Bedroom: $3,614
Cup of Coffee: $6.02
One of Gallon Gasoline: $7.38
Daily International Newspaper: $4.38
Fast-Food Meal: $12.59

It's just that we look at horses here as pets or creatures of grat beauty and grace. We have a hard time imaging eating animals we love.:(

The whole world's economic system is going to crash anyway, so it doesn't matter who or what they have now. It is beautiful though!!!

That ofc is very true. But then some people have sheep and chiken as pets too. I am pretty sure if you get a pepperoni pizza the pepperoni could have horse meat in it. Like Carol said. Its about having the choice and be givint the knowlege whats in your food let it be horse meat or Aspartame or any other thing someone might want to avoid. :)

Oh yes, I agree, God only knows what is in half the food we eat unless we eat strictly whole foods and those we grow ourselves. How can we? It's just the idea in my head of eating horse! LOL!:thumleft::heart:

Mine as well, Teresa. But then, I have only eaten deer meat a handful of times too.

My ex husband used to hunt so we ate moose and some grouse type birds a lot back then. I always liked game meat. And my dad also does hunting si I have grown up wit the idea. But he never gets anything. lol. But thay have a ranch so I do get the thing as horses as pets.

My cousins in Washington have a farm that they are trying to get going with free ranged eggs and I think they do some meats too. I wish I had acces to free ranged eggs. I hate the idea of how production animals are kept.

Not how God wanted his animals to be I am sure. right Teresa?

Anyways. I am going to go to bed with my happy satisfied pets.
You all have a good day. zzzzzzzz

Yes Sanni, agreed! Sleep tight and sweet dreams love!!!

Well you would think that growing up in Missouri, I'd not only love deer and other hunted game, but possibly even hunt myself. But no. Dad wasn't a hunter and neither were my brothers growing up, although the oldest took it up as an adult. Dad always had a friend he'd buy deer meat from, but just enough to have summer sausage processed out of it.
I did, however, spend many warm evenings hunting for night crawlers to throw in a can and take to the bait shop and sell.

I don't like the thought of eating any animal, but do it because that is how I was raised. I refuse to eat horse meat, but I have eaten squid and cow's tongue. now how disgusting is that? I also don't like the "gamey" taste of deer meat. Doug refuses to hunt, but was raised in a family of hunters (and fishers).
I would also love to see the Swiss Alps. I love the majesty of mountains, and love living at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

See you all later tonight. Just had to take a peek to see what was going on before getting something done. this is me winning and holding my place until then...

Casually strolling in---hands in pockets..... to claim the win........

You are starting to worry me about not getting better! There is a weird flu I read that people keep getting rid of and then it comes back. My son and barb and all them are sick all the time! Attacks!!!:voodoo::voodoo::voodoo:

I think mine is because asthma from dirty air and bronchitis got aggravated. haven't had bad asthma in years, but stress, bronchitis and dirty air don't mix. I will be fine. Just got to get past it, and air around here is a lot better.

Burped scalloped potatoes and thought of you! Wonder why? You made me hungry talking about the funeral potatoes!:rof:

Hate to say it but to me squid and cows tongue is not exotic at all. I don't like squid. Toung is okish. My stepdad is from India. Hes not one of the main stream religions there as he and his family are Catholics and eat dont have religion restricting diets. I was grown up in an environment that its exiting to taste just about anything.

The most exotic things I have had it probably frog legs or fermented shark meat (nasty nasty stuf). At our last trip to Tunisia my man had a camel steak and I had a taste of that too. I however can't get myself to even try snails or oysters.. and really don't like things like octopus or clams. But I wouls definately taste some of them chocolate covered grashoppers if I had a chance to. :eek2:

But there is some pretty exotic things to eat there in the US too. Rocky mountain oysters.. don't thin I would try them. Or what about rattle snake?

Anyways
I win!

LO Sanni! I would try rattle snake, it tastes like chicken! Clam strips deep fried are really delicious! Oysters~YUCK! Never did like them either!

My Mom tried to pass cows tongue off as a potroast when I was a kid. I knew first bite it was tongue and hated it!:rof:

Oooh, I always knew if my grandpa had to come to visit by looking in the fridge. Suddenly there'd be cow tongue, cow brain, head cheese, etc.....grosssssss

To be honest I've not fancied most meat for a long time. And I'm not a fan of processed stuff either.I think it's an age thing.I always think "do I really want / need this"? That's not to say I don't eat though.I prefer to eat something that I know I'm going to benefit from.If you don't allow yourself to get too hungry, you're more likely to eat properly. And no,I'm not "slim"................I blame the chocolate. hahaha.........Winner.

My dad forced me to eat clam chowder as a child and I cant eat them anymore at all. But I don't like the small normal clams either. Shrimp and such are good though.

An old English recipe - I remember as a small child our neighbour used to make this for us - she was at least 80 then so probably born around 1890. It was basically boiled pigs brains!

For the brawn

1 pig's head, ears removed and quartered
6 pig's trotters
2 large carrots, sliced in half
1 large sprigs thyme
8 sage leaves
4 bay leaves
3 cloves
1 tsp coriander seeds
4 banana shallots, finely chopped
100 g parsley, chopped
new potatoes, to serve
crusty bread, to serve

Okay we can talk chocolate now - I will go search for you box Sanni - let you know later!

I will pass on that one too. Waiting for my chocolates.
My dad eats pickeld pigs feet.. or something.. just as nasty.

I will go make some tea now to go with my chocolate.

There you are Sanni, chocs for all those who deserve them - please note they are very small chocolates though

My Mom craved pickled pig's feet when she was PG and we thought she was nuts!!!:ybatty:

I've eaten chickens feet, frogs, snails, oysters, brains, octopus, paua, pipi, clams, mussels, whitebait and the one thing I totally hate is tapioca. I ate something yummy in china, but don't ask me what the meat was. It was called Rogamoore, pita bread and chilli meat.

middle of the night win. I have tried a lot of things, but agree Sanni, tongue is only so-so (it is too tough), and I don't exactly care for oysters. I love clam chowder though. I refused to eat brain when out of the country, refuse to eat snails (escargot), dog, and refuse to eat horse meat. It is all psychological, but that is the way it is.

You mean "Rigamortis" LOL!!!!

I used to feed my G.S.Ds green cow stomach, that is straight from the beast with the grass content still intact.I used to collect it myself, hang it on a nail out the back, slice it,chop it and freeze it in portions. The smell was UNBELIEVABLE but the dogs thrived on it for years until the factory closed.....the cleaned stuff was a well know North East delicacy, eaten raw with salt and vinegar,or cooked in milk.We never ate it though. It's coming back into vogue now and you can get it in some supermarkets.Roberts stuff sounds tastier.......I mean the beer and choccies.

Pipis etc are shell fish paua is abalone

My favourite food groups are cheese and bourbon, then wine

Have to be careful over here....sometimes I get confused with the "R" rated Last One Wins forum....:ybatty::ycool:

Ha ha ! I'm b-a-c-k! I knew not to trust anyone. I'll be back after my nap, too.:medal1::ylol::congratualtions: to me.

Went to GI yesterday. Biopsies from my scope came back clear. No pain since he stretched the scarring from my anastomosis. He took me off Flagyl. In 3 months we will look at reducing the Budesonide. I win!!!!:cool::cool:

Very good news Doug.....hope it stays that way forever for you.

Now for the Win.........
