A very cool and breezy 7c...it's the "breezy" that's to blame for the "cool" or as my old man has just informed me "It's bloody freezing" (stop laughing Buff & Chris)
Speaking of the cold, for me this is the coldest most miserable time of the year. Just over a week ago we had a snowstorm it was -10C and I was skiing, the home fires still burning steady. A week later the damp cold along with the damp cold spring winds are blowing through to the bones. The snow pack is melting and everything is soggy.
Its hard to heat the house at this time of year because a small fire will get the house too hot, so I make small short fires and have to poke at it more often. Last evening I put the fire on, but this morning the house is cool, but I want to hold off on making the fire until later. Its a balancing act. As I say this there is wet snow coming down. I will be glad once summer sets in.
I would like to jump on the plane and head to the Caribbean for a month or two at a resort on the beach like they tease us with in those pamphlets.
It's sunny and beautiful outside, and finally getting warmer!
Another Sunny Day in The Mile High Denver. We had snow a few days ago and 70's today.
I am a little upset, my volleyball crew is having our annual weather permitting impromptu pickup games at Washington Park on Sunday. I am too weak to play. This is the first time I missed our impromptu Spring fun. I crashed big time and was diagnosed last fall right after our end of the summer party in September.
Volleyball in the park is my mental therapy, as nothing else matters, but the good people I play with from all walks of life. And of course friendly competition is always fun. We usually have 2 to 3 nets based on ability. And as the darkness approaches the remainder hard core people play until we can't see the ball. Hopefully I will be in remission before the end of the summer or sooner and get some play time in.
I hope so too! I like volleyball because I'm actually good at it.
I was lucky enough to meet one of the players at a picnic and he hooked me up with a diverse group of people, with some women who are former college players and the best setters I have ever played with. The age range is 20's to a great old school technically skilled 60 year old. All abilities are welcome and we coach up new players and help each other improve.
I used to play 2 on 2, but not as much any more. The social aspect is much more fun with more players. Lots of good humor and the beautiful summer afternoons in a great park. We have fewer daylight minutes than you do in Canada. But it is still amazing.
Last summer I kept up with a 3 college kids waiting for their 4th. Pretty good players and non-stop playing. Oh the energy of 20 year old guys. After the first three games their buddy showed up and I was happy to step off as I didn't want them to see I was getting a little tired. They asked how old I am and when I replied, 50, one of them said "Dude, you're older than my dad, that is so cool."
I played some 2 on 2 other times with a few of the senior guys and we always took it pretty easy between games. Mostly play 4 on 4 and 6 on 6 the last few games as most people leave and it's only us die-hards.
It took me awhile to get into it again 4 years ago. I played an awful lot more in the 90's before I moved to the East Coast for 15 years. We were the only net in the park back then. Now there are over 20 nets set up on Wednesday when we play and some weekend days, it gets closer to 100, full capacity. It's an awesome place, you can walk around and join other games if they have room.
Thank you for the encouraging response. I am a long way from being able to play at the level I did last year. Right now in a flare, waiting for Humira approval. As soon as I can, I will be back on my bicycle getting in shape.
Michael
First of all, I love your avatar.
Second, your passion for living your life inspires me to want to do the same. ❤
Third, I am going to be starting the Humira approval process on Monday.
Lynda
Good on you Michael, I like your grit. We had a warm day here today, it was 25c and I was working in the yard. I have actually got a slight tan going on, amazing.
Cold, grey skies and raining. Summer vanished already!
Great you got your phone back, Carol.
thike, sweetcorn??? you can digest that? Wow. But i grew potatoes last year, some ended up the size of peas. So much for my growing efforts.
after that i was down to my underwear with my colostomy bag hanging out, loud and proud on the chainsaw.

10c cloudy with some sun....looks "interesting"tomorrow :shifty:
Wow, i'm jealous of that heat, Lynda.
Thike, I think the Irish have memories of failed potato crops, so probably they avoid trying to grow them. It's nice you share with your neighbours too.
Has been raining, i've finished drying my washing in the tumble dryer so now it's stopped raining. I have plants to put in and a few potatoes to go in. I shall try again this year lol.
Beautiful sunny day here about 14 C even the puppy is looking for shade
I could have done with him lying across my feet last night....:thumleft:
He’s heavier than he looks
They are still a big crop in Ireland. My Grand Parents did immigrate likely due the potato famine, but we never talked about it
When I was kid, I hated potatoes and my mother said she might have brought the wrong kid home from the hospital. Now I do like them.
Beautiful sunny day here about 14 C even the puppy is looking for shade
Cooler today but it won't last. Back up to high 20c's by Thursday and 30c on the weekend.
Got my results this morning . My doctor said that there was no sign of atrial fib on my holter or event monitor. I said that is great , that means I can stop taking warfarin. Errr no I'd like you to continue taking it. Why there is no atrial fib or flutter? I just want you to continue taking it. Why? Just take it! It is not a drug you take for the fun of it. I asked about ectopics . He said nothing there to worry about over all one in ten is an ectopic. I said THATS acceptable.? No answer. I will not go near him again.Ron.
