Hahaha,I hope you don't regret that Di., ....well yes,I hope you do.Keep the thermals on.x

6c and warming.Another nice day for a peddle. It might be the last for a while according to the Countryfile forecast. They say Northhampton has got the gritters on stand-by,and they're never wrong.

Port Douglas near Cairns received 600mm of rain in the last 24hrs. That is an inch of rain every hour for 24 hrs , mostly thanks to the gulf cyclone which is moving west now and reforming. Low from the ex cyclone in the coral sea is heading south - southwest. We are expecting high winds ,heavy swell and quite a bit of rain from it tomorrow. My flat stinks, I've been spraying all of the mold patches with a mix of water ,white vinegar and clove oil. I can understand why the mold doesn't like it. Ron.

Beautifully sunny. Warm too. Trust me to speak too soon. Northampton's gritters will be on standby, standby and do nothing, the county is bankrupt, lol. Countryfile have a strange habit of predicting the weather correctly, unfortunately.

No hedgie last night, but i did spot a hedgehog poo. I'm hopeful, but if Winter is coming back then the poor critters won't be happy.

Ron50, that's one heck of a lot of rain! Is it not possible for you to move to an upstairs flat? I'm sure it must be detrimental to your health having to clear up those conditions after each flood. Good luck mate.

Di., We saw two butterflies and a bumble bee while out cycling.First of the season for us.

Met.centre reckons mostly wind and rain for the weekend....

more rain up north 45 rescued when a wall of water swept thru a caravan park in the middle of the night. Very scary from the reports of those rescued. It is still raining every day in the south east. Humidity is around 80% every day . Even when it is 28c it feels like 35c.See my nephrologist tomorrow . I hope he will get me off warfarin and onto one of the newer anti-coagulants. I have had 25 INR tests since I started warfarin in Jan.It is a pain in the butt. Ron.

When we were caravanners we once went to a park in the west country/Cumbria and were asked to keep the car hitched to the c/van as they were expecting more rain during the night and the near-by river "might" burst it's banks..we decided to move on.

Rain has stopped now and it's 10c.

0C and we got 3 cms of snow to freshen things up. I had a great time at the cabin this time around. At one point the pains were returning to the same places as last time and I found the chair I was sitting in outside was scrunching my belly too much, a pillow helped, but a better chair is what I am going to get. Otherwise I am in better health at present, and I won't celebrate too much knowing how fast it can go the other way.
Spooky, hegi poop is a good sign that its the hedgehog , rat poop looks more like very large mouse poop.

YAY! ITS HEDGIE! WHOOPEE I HAVE CAUGHT HIM EATING THE FOOD. IT'S MADE MY DAY, (WELL, NIGHT ACTUALLY). Sorry for the shouting with delight.

Spooky, great to see you winning. +1C, I maybe winning a round for some decent late season skiing and cabin time given the shot of winter coming this way for the next few days. Its still too early for the spring melt in these parts.

Went out a bit later with my torch, he was gone from the hedgie house but i could hear him, assuming it was him, over the other side of the garden. So i walked over there and shone my torch about (norty i know) and i think he spotted me before i spotted him. As soon as i caught sight on him looking at me i realised he had a slugs head in his mouth with tail out straight, it looked so funny. Today i bought hedgehog food from morrisons supermarket.

We had a sleet shower today, plus rain and sunny at the moment.
Enjoy your skiing Buff.
I hear there is snow in Australia already! Amazing.

I hate to say this, but a beautiful 75 degrees here today in Glendale, Arizona ( which is located in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. ) It is unusually pleasant, weather-wise, here right now ( because believe it or not it is usually way hotter by March. ) We only have one season and it appears to be summer ! But very nice temperatures between November 1st - March 1st, if we are lucky. I enjoy leaving my door and window open right now. In the evenings I can sit outside in my folding chair and see the stars. The hottest temperature in the summer of 2017 was 119 degrees and that is a very dangerous temperature for sure. Around July of every year is our short rainy season, which they call "monsoon season" but they are in no way truly a "monsoon" at all. We get "haboobs" during the summertime which are massive dust storms that cover the sky like night-time, but during the days. Only 7 inches of rain here annually but it all comes during our "monsoon season" and the dry washes here get flooded and stupid people think they can drive through them and then their cars get stuck. So, that is what my weather is like here, no "hedgies" here and I am lucky to ever see a flower. Take Care and Stay Safe.:hang: PS : I would seriously love to buy a rocking chair next year to sit outside during the night watching the stars, I love a cushioned rocking chair ! Good Grief, this post got too long again. :ybatty:

The cyclone that hit the Gulf is now a rain depression over the Northern territory. Ex cyclone Iris was heading south giving us big seas , rain and strong winds. It has now decided not to go south and is now heading back north along the Qld coast. We are feeling its effects today with some heavy showers and wind. They don't know what it will do . Some predictions have it dumping a heap more rain on already flooded areas of north Qld and probably reforming as a cat one or two Cyclone and then possibly heading south and crossing the coast near Rockhampton. It is a wait and watch scenario
I saw my nephrologist yesterday. I take my last dose of warfarin tonight then start Apixaban next Tuesday. It is one of the new anti-coagulants. They don't work on the vitamin K receptors in the liver but directly effect the coagulation proteins. He said my atrial fib was very noticeable yesterday. Ron.

There was a rocker at the auction rooms yesterday Lynda.I too would love a rocker AND a wrap around porch, but decided not to bid for it.No room for a porch anyway.
At least you know it's a hedgie D.,Have you told the neighbours what you're up to with the torch or have you left it to their imagination ?

Lovely day but cooler.5c and sunny.Finished the Spring cleaning....Yaaaaay !!!

Happy easter. At Easter our area doubles in population. For me it means stay off the roads and don't answer the door or the phone. Extract from Ron's survival manual for hermits.

The mold is so serious I had two family hospitalized for awhile because of it, I sure hope you can get it out of your home and stop the reasons of it getting in not just covering up. It is a killer on you immune system too.

Of course rain and more rain all but one day because we went to the beach and well ya that's Oregon for you and Washington. But any day at the beach is a good day for me and I got my granddaughter to have fun using an umbrella, something we usually don't use here for some reason hats and hoods on coats work best for us Pacific NW people. lol.

The weather goes back and forth, went up to +5 yesterday and then returned to -10 this morning, the clock is ticking for winter and the easy access of the snowmobile. I decided to do some work replacing roofing and some insulation for the cabin. The only time one can bring in larger materials is now with the snow. So more work yet to come. Those tranquil cozy winter evenings in the cabin with the warmth of the woodstove and blue glow of the TV only come with a whole heap of work throughout the year to make it possible.

Rained all day, heavy showers, not nice at all. Gone really cold too. Hedgie was there again last night, and hopefully will be there until November now. I hope the neighbours know that i'm hedgie mad. I'm always lecturing them to mind the hedgehogs. Neither of them are particularly careful unfortunately.

Can't believe you've got better weather than us, Carol. It's not fair.

Rain again today. They have no idea what the ex cyclone in the coral sea will do . They have predictions from the European, American and Australian models and they are all different. The holiday weather is lousy along the whole QLD coast. A lot of folk won't get much of a holiday at all as they will still be cleaning up after the floods of the past weeks.
Di there are a lot worse things in life than being known as the hedgehog lady. If everyone supported the plight of endangered species , there would not be any endangered species, Hugs ron.

4c and cloudy, could rain later. This weekend sees the beginning of the Nutcase season...bad drivers, noise, litter, teenagers blocking the streets and going down to the park in the evenings with blue bags full of booze from the local shop, untrained dogs with ignorant nit-wits,loud beat music from open car windows, greasey BBQ smells wafting through the windows etc etc etc. and of course cr*p on the TV.....It's not that I'm unsociable ....well OK., I am. Happy Easter my friends,I hope it's a peaceful one for us all

Got to love spring break huh....yep hate crowds....on the bright side got to take my oldest grand daughter and friend to a park since the weather was so nice. We even got to shed our coats for a change...well as long as I stayed in the sunny spots. :)

-18 under quiet tranquil cobalt blue skies. Yesterday was hectic, crazy, add in fatique and a crazy almost suicidal left turn for good measure summed up the day. I didn't plan on going for supplies until the pharmacy told me that they and everything else would be closed. My truck is over 20 years old, well maintained no rust etc. I wonder how long it will last given the odds when the urban jungle overwhelms this old graybeard and the ability to cope with the madness of the 'me first attitude' of many younger drivers. Nobody has any patients or courtesy anymore and more so prior to a long weekend.

Ronroush, is that C degrees? Wow i'mjealous.

Bucketing down. Not quite like Australia, ron50. Stay safe.

Carol, i'm in a village thank god, the drive back (38 miles from the hospital) yesterday was rubbish on the motorway. God knows what the traffic is like today, i'm not leaving the village. Hedgies out in force at the feeders, but i have no idea what this cold snap will do. Think we are to get more bloody snow! Can't cope with that, the Raynauds is bad and the nights are cold, cold, cold. Not Buffs cold, but English wet cold through to the bones, cold. Am thinking the north might miss the snow, think we might be getting it. omg. Give me Ronroushes weather or Australian weather. A tiny bit of heat would help. Raynauds bad lately and the arthritis, well, roll on real Spring, i'm freezing here. Hibernating again myself, along with hedgies i hope. This Spring is messing with wildlife. I know it's happening the world over. Pole shift me thinks. Roll on a real Summer.

b

Ronroush, not as hot as i can only imagine. lol. Oh, for some heat. The Raynauds gets bad. I think being this skinny with Crohn's doesn't help me feel warm. I swear i will go on holiday abroad to some warm place someday.

Can't wait until warm temperatures all the time.

It is nutcase season every single day at my apartment complex. Always chaos. And why does everyone have to use the "f" word. ( Sigh ) I like quiet. Oh, time to start imagining that make-believe cabin with a wrap-around porch and a rocking chair in Montana again

:sun:88 degrees

Lynda, i think i could put up with the f words for the sake of warm weather. I love to watch mummy hedgies turn up with their litter of hoglets, perhaps around June. Mind, tis a very cold spring. I'd love for the weather to warm up, but i think we are expecting snow soon. Probably that will send the hedgehogs back into hibernation.

4c and raining...all together now " It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, every where we go tra lala "

Diane,I feel really sorry for you,but I'm sure this cold snap is just a glitch. It's April Fools day tomorrow after all and there is definitely a greenish tinge to the trees.they'll be bursting forth this time next week.Hang in there.

I have noticed the green tinges. They look beautiful to me. A big sign of life at the end of what seems like a very long tunnel.

Cold, showery but sun trying to come out.

Still 28c here but the humidity has not been much below 70% for the past month. You feel like you are drowning every time you breathe. The ex cyclone is about to dump a heap more rain on north Qld in the next few days,. Ron.

Omg, Ron50, Qld doesn't need more rain. I've seen it plenty on youtube. They are suffering badly down there. Good luck with colder weather soon, but it must only be Autumn there at the mo.

It seems like we skip autumn of late . We are still experiencing summer temps. I don't think that we will see any cooler weather till june. Most of the athletes have arrived for the Commonwealth games and they cannot believe how warm and humid it is particularly
those from England , Scotland and wales. Ron.

Spooky I can relate to what you say, its -14C and its a dry cold the kind where I can step outside for short periods with only a housecoat, barefeet in slippers for things like using the outhouse and to bring in some firewood. I hate that damp cold too, and when spring kicks in we get a lot of days of that English cold. That's when I wish I could hop on a plane for a long vacation somewhere in the tropics.

Lots of rain from cairns down to Rockhampton. They now think Iris may form into a cyclone again and dump a heap more rain on the north coast. Over on the west coast they usually just come ashore, but on the east coast they just hang around and annoy people and play silly buggers. Ron.

Don't eat to many Easter eggs Ron.We're watching Outback Truckers just now and last night we watched a couple of episodes of Wolf Creek for the second time, just to remind ourselves how lucky we are to live in the UK.He's a real scarey guy, that's for sure.

Not too bad here, a little cold but nice enough. No wind, but the rain/snow will be coming in tonight. Hopefully it will push up and go where it's welcome, that is to those who don't like the warm, lol.

Two hedgies last night. more green tinge. Soon the people behind me won't see me, nor i them.

-17 clear with a fresh wind. I cut firewood at the cabin and then decided to walk up the lake, but the wind was fierce and burning cold. My ears couldn't take the wind and forced me back before they would freeze. The neighbor and his wife (also retired) came by on the snowmobiles heading out for a 4 hour cruise. I had to decline the offer as my body would not hold up well on those long trips I used to enjoy when I was younger.

One of those unbearable days today where the daytime temp was 28c and the night temp was 25c with humidity around 67%. Tonight ex tropical cyclone Iris became a tropical cyclone again. It is around 300 kliks off Cairns and heading south west. The models show it then turning south east and gradually departing. It has not followed the models so far and I can't see it doing so now. The area to the south east is expecting at least 200 mm of rain in the next two days. Ron.

No snow but a really horrible, wet, sleety day with a bitingly cold wind.Had a run along the coast (in the car) and there's hardly a soul to be seen, whereas usually pedestrians and cars are nose to tail all along the coast road.Car park at the Sea Life centre jam packed and all the eateries in the village are full.I spotted one stalwart dog walker on the Long Sands which is about 2-3mls long, and when the tide comes in it's a dead cert the waves will be crashing over the lighthouse. There's snow down the road in Yorkshire and on the higher ground elsewhere. But they're promising Spring tomorrow...maybe.

Tough weather everywhere with the change of seasons underway. Winter is hanging in there as we had 3 cms of snow last night and at -10 this is quite cold yet not unusual. This new snow gives me a chance to go skiing which I have not done much of lately due to the icy hardpack and ongoing dry spell we went through. Its with hope the dry spell will break once the spring melt happens or we could be in for a nasty fire season.

Cyclone Iris looks like it may reach cat3 within the next couple of days. They don't think it will come ashore then in the next breath they say it might. Time will tell.
I started my new anti -coagulant today ,Apaxiban. That experiment lasted one tablet. I took it at 630 am , by 1030 I had red veins all over the whites of my eyes. They were ropey looking veins and I was terrified one of them would rupture. Unlike warfarin there is no antidote for apaxiban. I went to my normal family med centre. The doctor I saw said it looked like I was extremely allergic to the drug and under no circumstances take any more. My eyes are still red tonight but I no longer feel like scratching them out. They should have known better, even on warfarin 1 1/2 to two grams is enough to raise my inr over the desired limit. The inr test does not work for apaxiban. They will wait a few days and put me back on warfarin. The first place I went when I saw what was happening was my chemist. He nearly crapped himself and said get o a doctor asap. I found having a good chemist is as good as having a good doctor. Ron.

Ron you are having a very rough go of it. i don't know what else to say other than I hope for a positive outcome from this all, you have been through more than enough now.
I should feel lucky, despite the health issues I put in a long ski yesterday and went to places I have not been to since last winter when the snow pack firmed up. I can go anywhere over the bogs right now with the snow supporting my full weight. Last night it went down to -18, and the conditions should last the week.

We are getting some heavy showers of rain . It is partly due to the cyclone but not part of it. The low is drawing in cool wet air under the higher cloud from the tail of the cyclone and the moisture is falling as regular heavy showers. I saw the same doctor this afternoon . He said the worst of the reaction to the new med had settled down a fair bit and he put me onto a low dose of warfarin again. I used to be a bit concerned about taking warfarin but now I know there are a lot worse drugs around. Ron.

I hope it helps Ron.Crohns is bad enough, but it must be unbearable with all the little "extras".I wish the weather would be kinder to you also. What a life eh.?

6c with lots of showers. The sun tried it's best to make an appearance but has given up.
The met office says it will be a lot warmer at the weekend, but lots of flood alerts out and snow in the Scottish Highlands.

Arizona to Montana that would kill ya....brrrrrrr :)

Heavy horizontal rain and gusty wind all through the night, but woke up to a bit of Jack Frost.(I kicked him out of bed to make the tea)........Blue sky and sunshine and 3c now.

Still getting rain every day, Temps around 28 with 70% humidity. Very windy . Cyclone Iris is now heading north again . They say it will dissipate into a low and won't come back. HHMMMM.
Had my heart ultrasound this morning and wearing a holter monitor tonight. I Take it back tomorrow. I think I'm wasting my time. Ron.

You are funny

What kind of tea ? I just quit drinking coffee, it's bad for my gut. :(

I just had my lemon, ginger and ginseng tea. We are a tea family for sure. Always nice when it's cold.

Thanks. I will write this down.

I loved, loved coffee for years but now it makes my stomach feel so sick.

:drink: I can't drink alcohol any longer either ( fond memories of past "happy hours" with co-workers. ) ( sigh )

Oops, this is the WEATHER thread :ybatty:

6c and cloudy with blustery wind.Going for a peddle soon. It's been almost two weeks since the last time so I must make an effort.
Lynda I drink good old British tea.PG Tips with one sweetener and a splash of milk.Allow the tea bag to stand for a few minutes, depending on taste, and remove from the boiled water before adding milk and sugar.I do drink Macha Green Tea sometimes, but usually put it in a smoothie.

Scottsma, that's exactly how i have my PG brew, apart from a spoon of sugar. Only have it when out though. Too much for the Crohn's otherwise.

Sunny with wind today. Feeling pleased about 2 days of sun in a row.

Same here, Carol. Have bought a few more fish for the pond, can't find the frog anywhere, but now i have acquired a baby newt from somewhere. What an interesting pond i have. I suppose little things amuse little minds. Well, at least my mind is not being consumed by the bloody Crohn's, lol.

Spooky when one's mind is off of Crohn's it means one is winning a round. I could be too, I changed out the worn rug on the scratching post with a new plush white carpet and Lepolina loves it. She scratches away at it while I rub her back and appreciates the upgrade. My furniture does too as she never scratches anything else in the house. One of the gentlest cats I have had in my lifetime.
-10C blustery, but sunny.

My niece lives in Idaho and she has a koi pond in her backyard ( her husband is from Osaka, Japan ) and when they purchased their first home in Idaho that is the first thing they did is dig the koi pond. I have never asked her if the koi fish live through the entire winter or if they die and she has to purchase new ones. No frogs as far as I know.

I have fond memories of my two "forever friends", Sophie and Sassy ( cats. ) I adopted them from a co-worker many years ago and they lived a good long life ( indoor cats. ) They are gone now but I will never forget them. Pets are way more forgiving than people are and they accept you as you are, no matter what.:)

I just pop in from time to time but usually read all the interesting posts from this group. Hearing about your frogs, newts, hedgehogs, fish, etc I had to tell you that we have a small green tree frog living in the silver beet/Swiss chard growing in our community garden.

7c and dismal again so off on the bikes soon.D., it's a good time to introduce new fish but watch for the frosty nights that might show up.Your frog is away on the hunt for "company".It's probably still in the garden somewhere.Hopefully if it's a lady she'll go back to the pond to spawn. No bluetits in our nestbox yet.Maybe it's too late and they've already sorted their accommodation. They're a joy to watch on the feeders but we have to leave the electronic cat scarer on all day for the Ginger Ninja across the back.

Very wet out, abysmal really. Lots of leaf shoots on many of my plants, which i watch develop daily. Fish seem ok so far. Can't see the newt. Is sometimes easier to take a torch at night and have a nosy as they aren't hiding. Neither are the hedgies. Picked one up and couldn't resist weighing him. 1.4kg. Must have had a really good scoff since awaking unless he was an autumn juvenile who scoffed all winter long.

High twenties to low thirty c for next week overnight we are stuck on twenty c . Still getting showers most days. Funny I was watching the weather on the news tonight and stuck right in the middle of the coral sea is the low that was cyclone Iris . They still are not sure if it may reform again. Ron.

It got up to 12c earlier.Far too warm for the jacket I was wearing on the bike ride. And no back pack so had to keep it on.
