What is YOUR weather like today??

The sun is shining, the gardens planted and summer is beginning out here in the wild west. My air conditioner is at the ready...

Lynda, scottsma is right... I keep an eye on things and help out as a Monitor... Moderators help solve the bigger issues on the forum as well as doing what I do. :)

Hmmm. So who keeps an eye on you 🤔

°98.

ME !!! warmer with a slight breeze but it seems to be clouding over.A good bike day so we're going out soon.....Buff,I really don't envy you re: the flies. My hubby used to "ping" them with a length of joined rubber bands.Just the occasional house fly mind you,and they had to be resting for a perfect hit.Sounds like you need a bazooka though.

They call it the Aussie salute here. Go out in warm weather and you are covered in flies. They don't bite they work on the theory of controlling numbers. I'd say there are half a million flies for every person in our country. Pouring rain outside. A small low formed just offshore yesterday, it will be gone by tomorrow.Ron.

No sun, humid, a patter of rain.

No hedgies either. Neighbour mentioned he has used some kind of poison to kill the bine weed. I'm hoping there is another reason they aren't around.

I have seen those salt gun setups... they do look like fun. ;) I might see if there are knock offs available. It's getting warmer by the day here and some of the sunflowers are over a foot tall. That might seem small but soon they will be towering above me, the chickadees and I just love them. :)

Half a million flies per person would be a bit on the low side I think Ron50, here anyways with 30 million or so in such a large landmass. I went outside for an hour, while running the saw I was okay as the exhaust and perhaps the noise keep the blackflies back. But when splitting wood they go wild. I wouldn't have gone out, but since my colostomy was getting loose and needed to be changed I used the opportunity to do some physical work. Physical work shortens the life of the adhesives of the appliance.

Not as sunny and a touch cooler.
Think a horse fly had a nibble of me today. Felt a slight stingy feeling on my calf n saw a fly of some kind on it. Headed straight for the vinegar and slapped that on. Seems to be ok ☺

Same here this morning, then the sun came out this afternoon and temp.rose to 18c.Had a short walk to the weekend market and had to carry my jacket.I felt quite smart (for me) when we went out,but felt like a bag of heated spanners by the time we got home....

20 overcast and buggy. Yesterday I was cramped up in pain and did little. The neighbor came over and took an old woodstove that I wasn't using that was taking up space in the basement. Today I am feeling somewhat better.

°94 at 9:38pm. ☀️

Those flies sound awful. And I thought mosquitoes were the worst.

Stayed inside today.
But got all my "house-cleaning" taken care of - - so that felt good. I gotta get out of my recliner every once in a while 😄.

Our palm trees in the courtyard were trimmed up all nice yesterday, they were looking a bit ragged with brown, dead palm fronds hanging down. 🌴

20c and a good day for a peddle.Wore sunblock as usual, but when my eyes started watering ,I wiped them on my knuckles which had cream on and made them water more. One more thing to add to the "Why I hate summer" list.:voodoo:....Apparently there's been an earthquake off the Yorkshire coast,a few miles south of us.It was probably a tremor but still, virtually unknown in the UK.:ywow:

22 with sunshine. Yesterday was cool enough the bugs were sluggish and I cut more wood. What a journey this has been, and how many kilometers did the chainsaw chain have to spin, but it looks like I have most of the wood cut and split. There are about 6 bush cords done.
Once the worst of the fire season is behind us then I will trailer the wood up to the house and stack it. I don't want to stack it too early, the wood pile would become a dangerous fire hazard if a wild fire were to hit.

This isn't weather. But I just discovered the candle lighting thread that ran from around 2010-2016, with 2 posts in 2018. Six pages long and I read every post and cried for over an hour. Even had to open a fresh box of tissues. This candle lighting thread should be revived. Must rest my eyes now.
💕💕

18c and sunny. Don't work so hard guys,it'll still be there tomorrow.

There's a saying "I rush through things today so I can do something else "

That's OK Diane, you need it more than I do so don't feel guilty. No signs of missing hedgies then ? Looks like the neighbours done them in...swine !!!

There are three fledgling in the gull nest this year and the parents are back and forwards all day for a feed.Soon we'll be seeing reports in the newspapers about gull attacks etc. I f folk didn't walk around stuffing their faces in the street,it wouldn't happen. They're on the "red" list for endangered and are protected. So the whingers can go do one,and that includes our neighbours. They must have very nice lives if that's all they've got to moan about.......Lecture over.

I never use pesticides anywhere that could hurt an animal, and even then I use them very rarely because of a deep concern for the collateral damage done to mother nature. Someone has been irresponsible on our street before and several pets got rather sick. Cloudy again, at least I'm not too hot.

I never use pesticides either. I have been lobbying the government to ban the practice of herbicide spraying of our forests after they have been clear cut. The government and the logging industry are intent upon destroying our indigenous forests to replace them with industrial tree farms that are devoid of animal life, including compromised fisheries from the poisonous suface runoff.

Avoid buying any wood products from Canada.

I'm afraid the this beautiful planet is on borrowed time.It can never go back to what it once was.Striving to right the wrongs is very commendable, but undoable I think.

Aw D im sorry the hedgies are no more ☹..think of them as on vacation it may ease the hurt 💞
Six months of this weather would be a rare event. Heres hoping...i cant remember the last time we had more than week of summer.

I can't remember more than a week of winter. It is up to 26c tomorrow after only two weeks of winter. My cousin Bill dropped in to see me yesterday. He lost his 48 yr old daughter to colon cancer two weeks ago. Appears it might be in Mums side of the family , I always suspected my dads side. Enjoy your summer while it lasts, sorry about the hedgies Di, Hugs to all Ron.

Overcast and not exactly warm. Come back summer.

Guess what????????? One tiny hedgie poo at one of my feed stations. Whoopeee. I shall get out there tonight to see if it's one that has coloured nail varnish on.

Sorry about your cousins daughter Ron, It's BRCA1 breast cancer in our family.

The slight cold change we have had for a couple of weeks is killing me. I am in a full on auto-immune flare. My arthritis is the worst it has ever been and my protein loss has doubled in the past month. My Neph has even suggested I may be coming out of remission with my kidneys. He is suggesting I may have to increase my cyclosporine immediately. I am having some tests done in two weeks and I have to ring him and get the results. It has been cold of a morning but you have to take your coat off by lunch time every day. Thanks guys poor Bill was really doing it tough the other day. Sharon has been fighting the cancer for two years but it finally blew up and she finished with mets right thru her body and head, poor darling , she was a really nice person. Ron

We are all struggling. Summer conditions never last more than a day or two before the cold front slams shut. Its gray, and I will need to put the fire on while the air conditioner in the window sits silently for weeks since I last used it.

Got bad news last night, my last aunt alive who's over 90 tumbled down the stairs and was there for almost two days before the real estate agent stopped by to find out why she was not answering the phone. She was going to move in with her son. Now she is confined to a wheel chair due to spinal damage. There is some hope she will recover. Despite the fall she cracked the spine near her neck, but nothing else was broken. I hope she will recover as she is a strong determined woman.

Oh dear me Buff.Poor soul. Those two days must have felt like a lifetime to your Aunt.I hope she gets better soon.None of us know what tomorrow will bring.Keep well my friends, and take care.Sending kind thoughts to you Ron.I hope things turn out OK for you.

It's been an OK day here, but it's clouded over now.
Hope your hedgie is one of the missing D.

Oh my days Bufford poor lady. I hope she makes a full and quick recovery. 💕

Been abit cooler and more cloudy today.

I hope the hedgie is one of your Diane 💕

15c with a few scudding clouds and a slight breeze.......If I wake during the night I never look at the clock because if it's still dark at this time of year,it's not time to rise and shine.
But last night I was awoken by the Dawn Chorus, and a black bird in particular was belting it out for all he was worth. It was really lovely to hear and once he had made sure I was well and truly awake,he shut up and went back to sleep. It was 3-25am...bless him.

Some one introduced blackbirds to Canberra. When I first lived there it was in a hostel. It had lots of bushes and hedges. I worked shiftwork and I was absolutely amazed by the blackbirds singing in the dark. Beautiful songsters.
I needed some last night , I don't think I slept at all. My bp in the morning was 171/111. Not sure how that is possible on 4 bp meds. Rain coming tomorrow. Ron.

I only take one BP med.but I suffer with chronic back ache and take two dispersible Solpadiene tablets daily. This raises my BP.I also take two prescribed Tramadol daily, which does absolutely nothing for my backpain. The doc knows I take the over the counter med.and as he hasn't offered to up my tramadol 'script' .I will continue to self medicate.Ron,maybe one of you meds is causing your BP to rise ?.........18c now and cloudy.Rain forecast for later and tomorrow, and we really need it.Well, the vegetation does anyway, and the streets could do with a freshen up.

20 and sunny. A few years ago I remember when I hit the wall with my blood pressure and nearly had an accident and got lucky I only broke off my license plate. I couldn't get out of the truck, I felt horrible, cold weak dizzy and wanting to vomit. BP was similar to Ron's. The doctor put me on Amlodipine, it took a few weeks but it did the trick.
My Aunt is stable at the moment, but they are not sure if she will be able to walk again as she has no use of her arms or hands. The therapists still have hope that with time the nerves may come back.

The doctor is going to refer me to my surgeon to further investigate my gallbladder, but with our health care system it will be fall time before I see him.

Nice enough today, but tomorrow is storm Hector. Mostly for Carol and Mandy's neck of the woods. Expecting winds of up to 70 mph. Should be not too bad down here in the Midlands.

Buff, i so feel for your Aunty. Hope she recovers. Ron50, hope the blood pressure lowers soon and you feel better.

Carol, stay off the bike tomorrow unless you want to ride backwards or at 70mph.

Didn't see the hedgie last night, but a little food was gone. Still seems weird.

18c and very windy.Gusts of between 50-70mph here but 100mph gusts have been recorded in Scotland. No rain, which the trees really need. They're dropping green foliage like it's late Autumn, not to mention branches. We are concerned about the gull chicks.Haven't seen them at all today, even through the bins. They might be hunkered down but the parents are scarce, so they might have been blown off the nest.I don't suppose they'll be the only casualties though.

some sunshine today, certainly not cold. Yesterday we had no real wind nor rain. Sad about the gulls. Think the hedgepig has done a vanishing act with the rest. Not seen one at all for a few weeks. Oh, well. Just have to have the football entertain me, not that England can, but there are other teams, lol.

14c and cloudy but the wind is down to a light breeze. We've seen two gull chicks and there may be another at the back of the nest. It's rare for them to rear more than two.Nature knows best.Spring Watch tv show (they have web-cams on nests etc for a few weeks) is going to be in New England in the Autumn.I always fancied seeing New England in the fall.

Same here today, cool wet 10. Will put on the fire later and cook up chicken breasts for supper. When its lousy outside, the house becomes an alternative for simple comforts.

°86 at 12:18am. Cloudy out and smells like rain is coming.
I am still awake.
Will see a dentist asap tomorrow morning. I am in a panic.
I know I will need antibiotics. The Gastroenterologist on call just told me that I COULD take antibiotics.
*confused*

Sorry to hear about your Auntie. It's terrible she had to be alone for two days.
Wishing her a quick recovery. 💕

Hope your blood pressure is lower today.

70 mph 😳
Don't they close the airports when it gets that windy ?

I know our local passenger ferry was taken off. It's only a 5-10 min ride from the north side (us) to the south. We only use it occasionaly. There is a car tunnel a mile or so up river, but we rarely use that too.........Cool and cloudy but still no rain, which we desperately need.

Cloudy out. Sidewalk is wet. Smells like rain outside, but was probably a very light rain. But in Arizona we will take a drop or two of rain if we can get it. So lovely for it to be cloudy and only °75 right now ! My window is open and the little birds outside are being quite vocal. Gosh, I wish I could drink coffee, this is a perfect "sit outside and drink coffee" morning.
Take Care. 🙂

After another day of below normal temperatures and heavy thick clouds, we are getting a break. Partly cloudy and pushing 19C. The easterlies are blowing so its unlikely it will get much warmer. The blackflies have peaked, and they are not as bad as other years. The mosquitoes and deerflies are coming out now, but if the rains hold off they may not be so thick either.

17c and cloudy again with a light breeze.Had a cycle upriver to the Marina.Up the hill a short way (and yes,I push Little Blackie up hill) there's a park with lots of trees and a pond.We had our drinks there and listened to the birds and watched the baby ducks and moorhens paddling about. It doesn't take much to make this old girl happy.....

Its another dark cool wet day, I think I will sleep the day away later after getting some computer work done. Yesterday afternoon we had quite the thunderstorm and light show along with marble sized hail.

Hi, SB7, welcome to our thread.

Ok weather here, sunshine and clouds of a darker shade, no rain though.
Going through a low period myself. Can't even raise a cheer for England winning their first match. Crohn's and arthritis playing up big time. NO hedgies again. Feeling the Indian Restaurant has put down poison or something weird. Not in a good place at the moment. Never mind, things sometimes pick up.

cool and grey again !!! I thought we had some much needed rain last night but it was only on the house roofs and didn't make it as far down as the street....

21 and sunny, no heatwaves around here unfortunately as my AC is covered with a jacket because of the cold nights. On a warmer note I got the phone call that a big load of firewood is coming later this afternoon.

Ray came over in his logging truck and dropped off 10 bush cords of some very nice clean white birch in 8 foot lengths that's just over 2 meters . While he was here I called the neighbors and once word got around Ray now has four more orders for 40 cords.

Nice, that's some good wood. I would like to turn a small piece on the lathe for fun. I'll have to go out for a drive soon and find some good chunks when scouting for firewood. A mix of sun and cloud here, so far it's 19c.

cool and sunny. Had to take my ex back to hospital today. The fractures in her wrist have broken up and are all displaced again. she is being operated on tomorrow for pins and plates. No fun.

Why didn't they do that in the first place ? It seems that nowadays everything has to be done at least twice before they get it right..and I mean everything.I hope you're doing OK Ron :thumleft:

Today is the summer solstice, the longest day.I think the days begin to shorten by about 15mins a week.It only seems like Christmas was last week and no doubt the shop storerooms are beginning to fill with this years xmas goodies...I just can't wait hahaha
!8c today and breezy.Did a 10ml round trip on the bikes and I have to say I much prefer the wind at my back rather than in my face. Not ashamed to say I got off and pushed a couple of times.I took my ball cap off so that folk could see I was "old" and not a light weight.hahaha

I sure hope they get your ex's wrist right this time, Ron. That's ridiculous for this to be happening.

Carol, that's quite a fair distance, I sometimes push my bike up hills too.

It's warming up here, currently 17c.

Day 0. Finally its the solstice, maybe summer will finally sputter to life and remain going for awhile. Nice day yesterday rising briefly to 25 until the sneaky north east wind kicked in signaling the arrival of the back door cold front as they call them. Only 6C this morning. I have not yet been able to sleep with the window open this year unless I am willing to run the furnace in the morning. Not!

Clear blue sky and no breeze.18c and rising.Forecast says up to 30c on the way but that will probably be in the south of the country.I HOPE SO !!! no rain for at least another week.Hubby's had the hose pipe going for an hour or more, and when he's finished with me he's going to water the garden......

Sunny and its really trying to make it to 22C at 10 Am this morning, if the southwest wind keeps up it could turn into a real summer day, but if the prevailing easterlies rise, the warmth will be erased very quickly.

Echo,..... this place is quiet, I guess the membership went out with the warmth when the easterlies kicked up yesterday afternoon and the temperature dropped 8 degrees in an hour from 28 to 20.

12C with rain today, I hope everyone is having a good weekend.
