What is YOUR weather like today??

Most bears hibernate in the winter. But my teddy bear avatar is going into hibernation right now [ at least until the temperature gets below °100, which is not going to happen soon. ] ☀️

Time to start reading again, as my eyes get tired of looking at this small print on my phone. 👁👁
[ I don't have wireless internet in my apartment, so I cannot use my computer.] 📚

Maybe the membership are doing some early Christmas shopping 🤔. 🎁

It usually rains 3 days after I get my vehicle washed at the car wash, but not a drop of rain in sight. 👀

Everyone has been on here for years but me. Do I get credit for the time I was user profile "Ann Morgan" a couple of years ago ❓

Have a great weekend. ❤

I can give you car advice Lynda.;) I'm a mechanical type. Make and model... ;)

🙂 My dad owned a Ford Galaxy 500 for 20 years.
He was a Ford man.
It was a big car and painted green.
I called it "The Tank."
I drove that car for my driver's license test and I passed.
[ They did not make me parallel park. Whew. ]
It was an automatic.
But I have been driving a stick-shift for 40 years since then. [ R.I.P. my first car....1972 Chevy Vega. ]
Oh, this is the weather thread 😄.
Take Care.

Lynda I remember when you were Ann Morgan and I remember your picture too. An attractive lady in a sitting position ? Welcome back....

23c here.the slight breeze made cycling bearable but I was glad to get home.

I remember learning to drive in an automatic and took my driver's test in one. I was handed the Volkswagon Rabbit from my sister which was a standard. It was a learning curve having to learn how to drive all over again with the gear shift.

The car started falling apart and I became a pretty good mechanic. The first day I had it the alternator quit, then as time went on came the big stereo and giant speakers with the likes of Styx, Led Zep and the Doors blaring away... Those are fond memories of days past.

I remember you as Ann, Lynda , Hugs Ron. Woke to a cold rainy day but we will still reach over 20c. I've spent most of the end of last week at the hospital. Sue was in surgery for three hours they had to start from scratch, re break , traction alignment , pinning , plating and bone graft. The doctor was not overly happy with the result. he said there were bone fragments everywhere and it was like doing a jigsaw puzzle. Ron.

It says something if the doc says he's not happy. Was it the same one who did the first repair ? I hope you're doing ok Ron.

and not a cloud to be seen.Bugger. Off to the dentist again then the supermarket for a big shop. It's cool there.

It has been four different people carol and quite frankly I don't think much of any of them. My health has not changed . My blood pressure is up and down like an elevator. All of my joints are swollen and sore( probably from sleeping on sofas and lounges) and from the amount of foam in the toilet my protein loss is still way too high. have some tests next Friday then a phone hook up to my nephrologist next week. And added to everything my upstairs neighbour is going away for a while and wants me to look after her cat. Fortunately her cat ranks way higher on my like list than she does. Ron.

It says 18c on my laptop but feels much cooler due to the sea fret here on the East Coast.Very warm and even " Sahara " hot in other parts of the country. They can keep it.!!! But I won't be spiteful. Many folk love hot weather and actually pay good money to lie around soaking in the rays. But I can't think of many benefits except the washing dries outdoors very quickly. The lovely lush green grass of a few weeks ago is turning a dusty yellow by the day.Hubby has the hose on our little yard (before they initiate a water shortage) and it looks lovely.Ferns, honeysuckle, fuchias, climbing ivy ect.Our little patch of seclusion.

It's 22c here too. It's 3-45pm and the sun has just shown it's face. The whole country is baking in a heatwave (for the UK anyway) but we've still had the sea fret most of the day.We were going for a run to the country for a sale today but decided it would be too hot.Cycled to the coast instead and it was really chilly at first.Luckily my winter gloves were still in my bag. There were a lot of holiday folk around wearing shorts and t.s and most had purple goose-bumpy legs.Bless them.....

°106. I'm tired. I think I am feeling the side effects of this 6mp pill ; panicking and making a "mountain out of a molehill" about everything. Seriously, lunatic panicky phone calls to my Leasing Office, Dentist office, and Gastroenterologist office. Its bizarre.

Staying home on Thursday to stay out of the heat.Take Care. 🙂

26c here...Big fires on the moors. They're really struggling to get them under control after three days and nights. The trouble is they're peat moors and peat has been used for hundreds of years in the UK and Ireland to use as domestic fuel.Because of the dry weather the peat is burning as easily as the vegetation..Farmers are having trouble to get their sheep off the moors and someone saw a couple of deer running back into the flames to get to their young. This warm dry weather is no good for man nor beast.

I'm so glad to be back to cool weather only 70 today. Europe is brutal on it's weather. How can people sleep with no air conditioning. Nice trip but glad to be home too.

We had an inch and a half of rain last week. Winter is usually the dry months here. The winds are usually westerlies and off central Australia. People are welcoming the winter rain but it does have a down side with the amount of under growth that becomes bush fire fodder when it dries out in summer. We are expecting some more reasonable falls of 30 cm next week.
Peat is a real problem in Tasmania Carol. If they don't get enough rain to keep it moist it can readily catch fire and is very difficult to put out once it catches.Ron.

How's your ex (Sue ?) Ron ? Have they sorted her fracture properly this time ? How's yourself too of course ? The fires are not under control yet alas. Some bleeding nutter has been arrested for stating one of them. There has also been three tremors this week in Sussex. It was 31c in parts of the country yesterday but cooler here on the North Sea coast due to the sea fret / mist so I'm not complaining. No sign of rain yet though.

Sue is struggling. She is in a lot of pain and the doc does not think that the job he did will give her full movement. He has already said he may have to operate again in six months to remove the plate. We are expecting more rain this week. I have a phone hookup with my nephrologist this week to discuss test results . I know my protein loss is up and my BP is varying by 20 on each reading each day. Last week I was 127/79 one day next I was 159/129 Ron .... I hope Diane is OK .

I too am worried about Diane.....come on kidda, show yourself !!!

ANOTHER too warm day, and looks likes the same for the rest of the week, darn it !!!
although the south is expecting storms today and there's a warning for home / business flooding. You know all about that Ron eh ?

I'd appreciate some rain here, but all that happens is the dry washes get filled up and cause havoc. Idiot drivers think they can drive through that fast flowing, muddy water and their car gets stuck in the middle of it. Well then the fire department, helicopters and rescue teams have to head out to save them !

Believe it or not we have something called a "stupid motorist law" ! If a barricade is put up by a flooding wash and a motorist attempts to drive through it and gets stuck, the motorist may be charged $$ for the cost of their rescue. [ I just looked up the law, it seems as though only 5 cases have been charged $$ from this law In the past 22 years and the maximum fine is $2,000.

°104 at 2pm. Sleeping and resting today. I'm so tired.

Sending hugs to the "missing" people here. 💕💕

still warm and dry.I'm fed up with it now.Expected to last for another two weeks. We really need some rain if the Rain Gods are listening (reading this I mean)….although whoever heard of a Rain God with crohns ? Of couse that's not to say they don't get it,just that they haven't discovered this forum yet...……..Buff,Diane have you two run off together ? I hope you're both OK.Missing you both.:thumleft:

More showers overnight but no major falls. I will try to send some your way Carol.
Tried to hook up with my Neph yesterday. Their computers were down so it never really happened. All that his receptionist could tell me was that my protein loss continues to rise. Hope we hear from Di and Buff soon. Ron.

Very warm this morning but it has clouded over this PM which is a relief. It's been two weeks of temps between 23-30 c and looks like the weekend's gonna be a scorcher. We're being asked (politely) not to waste water as no rain forecast yet.Managed a peddle up river to the Marina. It was quite busy as it's on the National Cycle Route. There was a Royal Navy ship berthed on the river and a massive queue waiting to board the evening car ferry to Holland. No Buff or Diane yet I see...….:shifty-t::frown:

I'm back. I was away for a week visiting family. I won't repeat myself here as I have already mentioned it in more detail in the PG thread. The weather was on the hot side but nice on my visit. I missed nothing at home while I was away. Torrential rains have washed out a portion of my drive way. Everything is soaked, it will take weeks to dry things back up to normal, if there is such a thing as normal around here.
19 C partly cloudy with a chilly wind. I feel like packing up and returning to visit my family, and get away from this ugly climate. At least it makes up for it in winter when others are jealous of our steady winters with clean white snow.

We're in the high 20's. Sunday is supposed to be 30C. I have a relative in Ottawa, and on the long weekend they hit 47C with the humidex. In Quebec over 30 people have died of the heat so far. Hope it cools off soon. I had planned on moving to Southern Ontario, but I think I just changed my mind..

Yep, °110 today when I was at my laundromat at 2pm.
No air conditioning in my laundromat,
only a cooling system called a "swamp cooler"
[ which means warm, damp air blowing around.]
After 30 minutes I started to feel overheated.
Thank goodness I was in and out of there in one hour.
I drove right home !
An "Excessive Heat Warning" for the next three days.

It is ONLY °103 now at 8:29pm 😳

Lynda

Lots of cold water with ice. When it is stinking hot I love that feeling of ice cold water running down your throat. Staying hydrated is the most important thing for me. We have had quite a few heavy showers today and expecting some more overnight. Tomorrow they are expecting the winds to turn southwest and we will get a blast of Antarctic air with it and some single digit temps. About time we have been having spring temps this month. Ron.

Got up to 27c today. It will be warmer in the south though.Went for a 2hr peddle again today and it was bearable in the shade. It's turned cloudy now, same as yesterday, but still no rain on the way alas

I wouldn't want to live anywhere near the GTA of southern Ontario. Its expensive to live there and constant heavy traffic. I had to leave for the airport from the hotel and allow 3 hours for traffic delays and used much of the time getting there. I wouldn't want to drive that everyday.
As for airconditioning, I don't know why anyone would or could live without one. The window units are cheap, and use very little power compared to the old ones. It could also mean the difference between life and death for some. I could ride out the cold better without a furnace in winter, but not without airconditioning in summer even though I use it little.

I don't have AC. I planted Virginia Creeper on the west side of my house. The afternoon sun shines on the leaves, not on the building. It feels like I have AC when you walk in. When it was 32C outside, inside it was 22C. And it's free :)

21c and rising at 10-30am.There's a summer fayre down in the village this weekend.Lot's of music and food and drink BUT England are playing Sweden in the semis this PM so it might be a tad quiet.Probably the best time to go,we'll see...….

Expecting an old fashioned Canadian summer day and my airconditioner will be needed later on. Supposed to make 30C with sunshine.

Having said that I had to use the airconditioner yesterday when I used the clean cycle for the first time to clean the mess of melted plastic after I forgot the splatter screen with the plastic handle left inside the oven.
It ruined the chicken breasts and stank up the oven. I managed to peel off the pancake of melted plastic from the bottom of the oven.
The heat from the cleaning cycle made the house hot, at one point the inside of the oven was flaming like a wood burning stove with the glass door. It did a great job cleaning, But.. it sure used a a lot of electricity when I checked the meter; about 7 kilowatts.

With the plastic handle gone, I can now say my splatter screen is 'oven ready'.

That must have been difficult to remove. In my case there already was grease, which kept the liquid plastic from bonding to the oven floor.
Great day weatherwise, 28 with sunshine.

It's so sunny and pretty out, really missing my cabin....feeling mad today....so much for better or worse and....forsaking all others......you'd think after 8 months away from him I wouldn't still be so mad....

Ooops, won't pry but sending kind thoughts and hugs.

Still warm but over cast which is a blessing.Supposed to get up to 27c later.Going to the summer fayre in the village, reluctantly, but have to make an effort......use it or lose it.
We had a flyer thu the door y/day.someone will clean my oven for £45 (single) hob for £15 and extractor for same.will I give them your address Buff ?

Ya 80 today so pretty. Taking a yoga class with my mom today, should be interesting. See if I can do it without falling over. :)

I won't be needing the oven cleaning service, the 'prescribed burn' did a pretty good job. I am going to try again with the chicken later on. I made a small cucumber salad yesterday, its the first salad in over a year and it sat well in my stomach.

22C and some rain. Its a warm rain which is very unusual. Rain typically is a sign of the return of cooler or rather cold weather. We'll see if the warmth will last or if its back to firing the furnace.

That's awesome! I miss salad. Had a tiny bit the other day and didn't double over but did have a little issue. Had cucumber water though as a compromise. :) Yep it's the little things that keep you going.

Currently a thunderstorm and 21C. We are under a heat warning, 30C later in the afternoon, and also a severe thunderstorm watch. A cold front is forecast to cross the region tonight, bringing this heat event to an end.

Sorry to hear about your heat 😧.
Love your avatar !

Ha Ha.
I took yoga classes when I was much younger than I am now. I never could get the hang of that standing-on-one-leg thing 😕.
Glad your trip away was a good one.

Gosh, a "summer fayre" sounds like a fun and relaxing thing to do. Some walking, eating stuff and buying things I suppose ? Is there music ?

When I was on my vacation I got tired of drinking energy shakes in the hotel for breakfast and decided to have a small sub sandwich for lunch which had greens in it. I fully expected it to kick back but it did not. When I got home I bought a cucumber to experiment.
Sadly our warm weather has been extinguished, the brief warm spell was very short but sweet. I will warm things up with roast chicken in the oven and have another go with the cucumber salad.

It's 96° here in the Mile High Ciity. Denver and its suburbs are going to push near triple digits this week. The forecast calls for 98° on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It's a dry heat, much easier to endure than the humidity in other parts of the World. I miss my time in Boston, New York and London. However I'll never miss hot and humid days.

I remember a block party on Long Island. We expected 30 to 40 people at our house, but only 10 showed due to the heat. 102° and 125% humidity, which boggled my mind.

The dunk tank was where the kids congregated. The bouncy house stayed empty with burning hot vinyl until the sun went down. As it cooled slightly the kids were racing up and down the street on bicycles and the little ones on tricycle, then parking and crowding the bouncy house then back to racing up and down the street, closed to all car traffic.

My daughter was in extacy experiencing her first sense of speed and freedom zooming to exhaustion and beyond on her new tricycle. Much like her first birthday party where she walked for the first time with the adulation of all the adults. She marched around for hours until falling asleep mid step and collapsing on the floor.

I do love summer nights, especially after an afternoon thunderstorm, with the cool fresh air. I remember being in a competitive 2 on 2 volleyball contest My cousin and I were just about to lose when the sky opened up in a deluge. Chad and Brian on the other side of the net didn't want to quit, so close to victory. My cousin Jamie and I came back and won, laughing at our slips and falls and at our opponents who let frustration beat them as our grass court turned into a lake. We packed up the gear and took our wet selves to our Friday haunt, a local bar/Mexican restaurant. We did are typical best to imbibe.

Afterwards I met a couple of other friends and we grabbed some beers and a bottle and roamed around the park in cool air under a full moon where we agreed life couldn't be much better. Another Great Colorado summer memory.

cmack,
Thank you. I too enjoy great memories.

As hard as iir gets sometimes, I believe that: No matter what the Crohn’s does, we are not done making more great memories.

Thike, you are a natural born writer. You need to write a book and become famous so then I can say I knew you before you were famous 😄 Your mind is so sharp You have a great memory. Thanks for sharing with us. 🙂

Ok, I will say it.....hotter than hell here. My "chiller unit" that cools my apartment is working SO hard, but it is difficult for it to keep up with this heat. And poorly insulated walls here do not help. It's hard to explain what a chiller unit is, but it involves water. So I guess it is a cool/cold but slightly damp air conditioning ?

Well, every July and August is like this and I have lived here for43 years. But as I age I become less tolerant of the heat. One year it was °120 and I believe our airport was shut down ? Also back in 2011 we had a huge haboob over the entire city, quite a site. A haboob is a severe and crazy dust storm. The photos of it on the Internet look like a scene from the movie "The Mummy."

This is the time of year that idioit people leave their pets in their cars while running errands. And even children are left in their car-seats and that is sad to see on the news because there are deaths. I carry a lot of bottled water in my vehicle and always have my cell phone charged up for emergencies.
We have "Excessive Heat Warnings" here every day now.

Where is our rain ! July and August here is called our "monsoon" season because that is when we get our entire yearly amount of rain, which is a mere 7 inches, on average. Of course "monsoon" is just a word they use here to describe our rainy season, but a TRUE monsoon it is NOT.

Well all my posts are extremely long today. [ sigh ]

I will rest now.

Lynda 🌻

Clear skies and dry on Macleay Island, Moreton Bay, Queensland. OZ. That said and I know that some of you will get a giggle , but it is 21*C and cold. The SW winds really do affect the chill factor. In the sub tropics your blood thins out due to the beer factor!
Cheers,
merv

Well the summer fayre went over ok BUT it was so hot.And as we knew there'd be no parking spaces,we walked there and back as well as round and round. It was almost 30c even at the coast. It's a lot cooler today,a blessed 16c and cloudy, but rising again during the week.Us in the UK are not used to too much heat and don't cope well.I think it's been the longest / hottest for 45yrs.A bin (garbage) lorry sank into the tarmac the other day,and a fellow had to be rescued when his foot sank in same and he couldn't move.I hope they were old trainers......

What scares me Carol is that if you are getting this for your summer, what will we get next summer. Our winter has been postponed in my neck of the woods . We have one of the warmest Junes on record . The bureau said our june temps are the average of our normal spring temps. We are still getting regular heavy showers. The freies are preparing for a bad bushfire season. Sadly America is experiencing that now. Ron.

At 10 am it's 22C, feels like 28 with the humidex. The rest of the week is supposed to be low 30's with the humidity included. What happened to our cold front that was supposed to move in. I woke up at 2 am to a thunderstorm, we needed the rain, it's been too dry.

I don't know what it is about the weather around here, but our summers are somehow under some bad luck. We are lucky to get one maybe two days where we can call it beach weather before it gets cool again. If there is even a hint of rain, the temperatures drop and then don't recover often for days.
I gave up on the vegetable garden about ten years ago. Going back 20 or 30 years ago I could grow a decent vegetable garden, but in recent years most gardens are lucky to yield a few small golf ball hard green tomatoes, and the ground so wet to cause mold. The lakes don't warm up anymore like they used to, so I do little swimming.
Last week they called for warm weather bordering upon heatwave conditions, but we had only one day that made it up to 28C, the rains closed in pushing the warmth south of the boarder.

Today is sunny and they expect it to reach 25.

we had some very light drizzle earlier. It was refreshing but we really need a deluge ,which ain't gonna happen this week alas...…...Diane where are you ?????

Yesterday was a classic summer day. I spent the day with a friend of mine and added more air to her water pump tank to make it run on a longer cycle. Had lunch and shared with me some flowers for my garden. Today appears to be another summer day. Its a far better year than last year when I ran the furnace nearly every day.

Sunny with UV of 8. 26C and 30C with humidex. I had to go for a lab test on the bus, and used an umbrella. I waited all winter for the nice weather, and now I'm on MTX and have to stay out of the sun. I had the same problem with azathioprine, I would burn really bad.

Overcast and expecting showers. We had single figure morning temps for two days last week and highs in the low twenties . Ron.

very heavy showers tonight. They think they will clear for the weekend and the temps may drop. I could handle that. Ron.

23 with a mix of sun and cloud. We could really use some warm dry weather and gladly hand over all the rain to Carol. I went for a swim at the neighbor's place albeit very short, the water is still very cold for the time of year.
Tuff I remember how badly I would burn when I was on Aza. My skin on my forehead was so sensitive it seemed to burn even under indoor lighting.

The summer is moving on, I have to soon think about moving firewood, though my body would rather not.

A nice 20C here, with a thunderstorm warning. Heat wave is to continue tomorrow. I went to mow my lawn before the storm, and the rechargeable battery is dead. I thought I charged it up, but I could be wrong. Hopefully it will charge up so that I don't have to order a new one.
Bufford, I've even burned the part in my hair before, so now I try to be more careful.

The other day a rainstorm. [ This is our rainy "season." ] Then earlier this evening a massive down-pour of rain. Streets are flooded. Quite a substantial amount of rain. Then a few hours
later it rained again !
The dirt in Arizona is like clay and doesn't soak up the water very fast, so water rushes through the previously dry washes. My apartment courtyard is flooded. Saw a thick, dark plume of smoke 2 miles away from my apartment earlier this evening. A grocery store roof collapsed, probably from the heavy rain, and the entire store was in flames ! It burned down !! No one got hurt.
Take Care.

It appears that there were very heavy showers in our area last night. There were reports of 50mm in a couple of places.
I have had a long battle with sunsensitivity, The cancer chemo made me very sensitive as did methotrexate , high dose prednisone and cyclosporine. I was always paranoid about putting sunscreen on as well as wearing clothing that covered me up and a good broad brimmed hat. Despite that my continued use of cyclosporine results in a new crop of skin cancers to be removed every year. Ron.

Started cloudy and 17c earlier in the day,but has warmed up with a clear blue sky this arvo. There's a hosepipe ban threat unless we get rain soon. The reservoirs could do with a refill. There are cracks in the soil that you can put your fingers / hands in....

Last night we had quite a light show from the heavy thunderstorms that rolled through one after another with a lot of heavy rain with it. Yesterday I managed to move one load of firewood, and would have been willing and able to move another except that the black flies were very bad. The biting flies were a good indicator of the storm ahead, they usually get very active ahead of bad weather.
Its a cool foggy gray day, but they expect good weather to return.

Same here, thunder and lightning and pouring rain last night. We must be in the same neck of the woods. Today 21C, feels like 28 with the high humidity. On radar, it looks like it has passed, but it's still cloudy here.
I don't like sun screen, don't like putting chemicals on my skin, but now I have no choice.

Boringly the same as the last few days.18c and cloudy but the sun will show itself mid / late afternoon as it has been doing.

I too hate sunscreen and stuff, but needs must.I used to think a tan was healthy back in the day,but not any more.I never sit in the sun with the intention of getting a tan and haven't done so for over forty years. It's probably why I look younger than my age but it's a pity the grey hair gives it away.I've stopped colouring it and am growing old with wild abandon...…..in my dreams...…..:sign0085:

Well finally we got some warm to hot weather for a change, the kind of weather where the airconditioner runs, and I can sit outside on the deck and simply stretch out and relax. It should make 30C and help kill off some bugs and warm up the lakes. This type of weather used to go on for weeks at a time, but in more recent years we are lucky to get only a few days out of the whole year. I'll take it while it lasts.

I'm back! Had a good read of the ones i've missed. Crohn's was diabolical. Am appreciating this good weather believe me. Shame i've been stuck in though. The pond needs a refill really. Poor fish, mind, i can't see them it's so green this year. Garden has grown more weeds than anything. My fushias haven't got many flowers on this year, but the roses are doing well. Am going to cat/chicken sit for the neighbours tomorrow whilst they are away for his 60th. Am hoping for a crackling good thunderstorm tonight. Hope it reaches us. Every bit of green has gone horrible brown.

Nice to see you back D., we were worried. My hubby has noticed a variety of new creepy crawlies (bugs) out back, due to the warm weather ? But the plants and shrubs are in full flower and green due to the hose twice weekly. The goldfish are ok due to good filtration but the water is warmer than it should be for goldfish...Did you see the hedgie in the paper a couple of weeks ago.Somebody had rescued him ,but had over fed him to say the least.I think he weighed 2lbs ? The staff at the wildlife centre called him Arbuckle as in "fatty" and he's on a strict diet.

Welcome back Di , hope you are feeling a bit better. Hugs carol, remember grey and white are colours too and very nice ones . 5c-20c here today. Pleasant weather but it has been one of our worst winters for hay fever for years. All of the wattles bloom in winter. Ron.

We're in the low 30's again. Hay fever is bad here as well. I never had it until this year. My street is lined with Bird cherry trees and they are blooming right now. They have a strong smell and look pretty, but I have a headache and itchy eyes. At least my nose isn't running anymore.

Geeze having to go to Portland tomorrow and suppose to be 98 I think it said....getting so hot. It's always about 10 degrees colder here in Tacoma, bad timing....but they can't change the day my mom birthed me lol. Bought myself a ukulele for my birthday and taking music lessons once a week. Even learned how to play happy birthday to myself on it tonight lol.

Happy Brithday Jane.

Glorious weather again. Am looking after neighbours cats/chickens. watering their veg and flowers omg, nice garden but... I'm not knocking this weather, it's lovely. Fancy getting hay fever in Winter, Ron. What a laugh. I've been sneezing a few times this year, i never normally do.

19c and rising to mid 20s as the day goes on.I'm not complaining (much) I mean I don't HAVE to go out in it,but I always feel like I must when it's sunny.Going to walk down to the Quay for some fresh cod or haddock. There are more cafes and restaurants down there now in what used to be filleting stores and shops, but there are still a few fish shops and fishing boats.People will always want fish.Except me,I'm not a fan,but hubby is.

Ron,how's Sue doin' ?
