What is YOUR weather like today??

Crohn's Disease Forum

Very humid after last nights storms, I'm going to try and move some wood today albeit slowly after having had more gall bladder issues. I was told not to lift more than ten pounds at a time, so that does not preclude me from stacking wood.

Take care all. I have always found change of season a tough time for chronic illness flares. I was going to take the yak out fishing this weekend but strong winds and dubious health convinced me that I should wait for better weather if not better health. Ron.

Lovely and sunny again today. Cats are back out lazing in the sun. They'll be in a lot more as we progress through Autumn. Looking forward to lovely colour change soon. Then it's Winter, oh, and Christmas.

At least you can rely on it not being hot the whole year Di . The lady that lives upstairs has a cat and it will not lay in the sun. Just under the house or under a bush and that is in winter. It will only lay in full shade in summer and even then it looks distressed. They think we may get some rain this week but it may be quite a while before we get any more. I know a lot of the folk outside of the service area are having to buy water to refill empty tanks. Ron.

Ron, we are generally a miserable weather nation. I've been enjoying the Summer. It's been a real one this year. Could be many years before we get another like this. Shame you can't move, i think parts of Aus has had extreme cold. I do feel for the cattle though. To be fair, even my moggies love a bit of sun. They laze in the greenhouse during cold weather, unless it's the beast from the east, in which case they're indoors. They hate snow.

25c and breezy but the breeze isn't cooling things down at all.No cycling today for me.Like all of us crohnies,I know my limitations. We walked to the weekend craft market yesterday, only about a mile or so throught the park, and it almost did me in.So just pottering around the house so far today, now Take care all of you. What doesn't get done today will still be there tomorrow.....unless the fairies take pity on us overnight.

A bad start to the day.So warm I had the fans running. It began to drizzle at lunch time and the temp.dropped to a refreshing 14c Proper rain now.I might be able to put the fans in the attic by the weekend.

Sunny this morning, its been a wet couple of days. Once things dry out I will tarp over the green pile and start moving wood, like the squirrels and chipmunks storing up the nuts n seeds for winter.

Woke to some drizzle. At least it will clear the air. It was full of dust from the strong north westers last weekend. Dust storms are becoming a yearly event here. It is sad to see so much of our topsoil blowing out to sea. Ron.

13c and grey...
D., there was an article on TyneTees news last night about albino hedgies.Apparently they are one in 100,000 .A rescue centre in Yorks.has had three in separately this year. One has been released to a safe house and the lady feeds them. She has quite a lot of other hedgies visiting and clattering the bowls at night..... sorry for diverting from the weather guys.

While it was a short thunderstorm, nothing abnormal except for one loud bolt, my neighbor took quite a hit. Luckily he took the dog in as the storm approached, lightning hit and melted the dog leash, blew every breaker in the electrical panel, but only blew out one light bulb and the phone company will fix their phone. Very lucky, they said the air smelled of melted plastic and sulfur.

The sun is again trying to come through. Thermal vest day today. Dry out though.
I've never seen an albino hedgepig yet, C. I think they need to be looked after or something, i don't know the reason, but they seem to be ones at risk along with the blind hedgepigs who don't know day from night so are a danger to themselves. I still don't have any visiting my garden. Still no small birds either.

Quite a few light showers today. not the 30mm they predicted, more like 2-3 mm. Spring has been very windy. Mostly out of the NE to NW , not what we want or need. Ron.

After another wet day, today is sunny, cool with a northerly breeze. I am feeling better now after several days of rest, going to move firewood in the afternoon, the exercise will do me good.

temp.rose to 17c this afternoon, but there is definitely a touch of Autumn in the breeze.
Japan's been getting a bad time. Not so long ago it would take a day or two to get this sort of bad news into the papers or on to TV.Now with technology, we can be there as it happens, and feel the fear of the poor folk enduring it all......Good or bad thing ?

Have had the most perfect weather camping. So many big trees keeping it cool. In the 70's at night was a bit cold in the very low 50's, didn't realize how hard it is to stay warm when you're by yourself. My first time camping alone for 6 days, I'm glad I did it.

Good to see you and glad you had a great time camping, and especially that you had good weather. It makes a huge difference.

Not a bad day here.A very slight Autumnal feel and the evenings are dark by 8pm,but no body can complain about the UK summer this year.Except the farmers, but they always have something to whinge about.

We have had light showers most of the week but no real rain. Hitting the Maroochy river this morning. The flathead ( not catfish) run in spring. A bit of fresh fish will not hurt my diet. Ron.

Overcast today, was sunny earlier though.
C, those farmers are British, they have the right to whinge like the rest of us.
Jane, welcome back, glad you enjoyed the camping.
Ron, my tum accepts a tad of fish as a rule.

Yes Carol I took the yak out . The fishing was good . The fish were all on the small side with only a couple making the legal length. I let them all go . I hooked one large estuary cod which promptly busted one of my very expensive rods. I got a look at him before he straightened the hook. I need a bigger yak. I was the best test I have given the boat so far. To get back to the ramp I had to paddle 2 1/2 kilometres into a 30 knot headwind against the tide. It hurt but I made it non stop. You cannot afford to stop paddling as you can lose ground quickly. A good day despite the pain. Ron.

At least you got out there, Ron. You'll no doubt take a week to recover from paddling against the tide.

Rain and cooler today. Looking forward to next Summer.

Ah,come on D., at least wait until December hahaha
Ron,glad you had a good day.You did well to paddle against the wind,
but it was better than going out in the bigger boat with all the faff that involves.Did you sleep well ?
16c and cloudy here.

Glad your feeling better Ron, the last few days I have been picking up the slack on the wood effort, making good progress. We had our first significant frost of the season last night, its been quite seasonal.

Intermittent sunshine, and is lovely and warm when the sun peeps through. A frost already, Buff? Amazing, i'm not quite ready for those yet.

I had a juvenile hedgepiggy feeding last night. Was a lovely sight that lifted my spirits having not seen one in ages.

17c and breezy....a good day for Newcastles "Great North Run" which is an annual half marathon. It's bee going for about 30 yrs and there are tens of thousands of people from all over the UK and the World taking part...I'm not one though. For some reason they say cycling is cheating....

We are enjoying a stretch of seasonally cool dry weather giving me a chance to catch up on the wood effort. Glad to hear that a new generation of hedgehogs are making their presence.

Has everyone done a vanishing act? Our good weather has. Really dull out. Nothing to complain about considering 3 hurricanes in the Atlantic heading East.

Stay safe all on the East Coast USA.

Same old stuff here , warm and windy. Still getting over the paddle last weekend. The chemist organised a new blood glucose meter for me today but the new one has the same readings as the old one. Every day around 3pm my blood glucose drops into the low fours. The pharmacist has no idea why . Ron.

Warm 17c,sunny and windy.I was thinking about you Ron, when I was peddling against the wind earlier. At least I had the option of getting off and pushing the bike for a bit.

Standard weather for September, frost the other morning, now we get a summer day to hang out laundry. The wood effort shows, with the growing pile, with more to follow.

Glad your wood pile's growing. It must be a relief when it's done.Do you pile up more than you need to,just in case ?
The temp says 14c on my laptop but it was 21c on the car thermometer,Very windy and bright sunshine.I'm looking for stuff the wash and hang out while it lasts.

I always cut about 25 % more than I need, I learned long ago that coming up short is not worth it. I cut what is needed for the full year, not just the winter, there is always wood on hand that is seasoned and ready. Doing so is simply becomes part of the lifestyle when living rural and on limited income. I have never paid standard heating bills as many do in the urban areas, nor would I have the financial ability to do so. With many absences from work due to a lifetime living with Crohn's my pension is much smaller than it would have been. Cutting my heating wood is basically a part time job that supplies me the funds to keep living here that would otherwise end up spent on costly overtaxed heating oil.

We have a totally different life to you Buff But . although we're "comfortable"we're both on a pension and we've always been careful with cash.My radiators are on low even when it's freezing out,and we watch TV with the lights off. We've always done it.I hate waste of any kind, but the youngsters nowadays think the throw away agenda is normal.

No change in the weather.Bright and breezy and 13c.

I don't own a heater but I have a wonderful assortment of fans. I sometimes wish I had air con then I think of the cost. Really warm spring weather ,. A lot of places in the south east are looking at 30c + temps this week end, e are around 27 tomorrow. Taking the yak up to lake Macdonald to chase some bass. they are predicting light winds and the lake has no current. More exercise. Ron.

Be glad you don't have to use heating systems, they are costly to operate whether its the money for fuel, or the physical effort and cost of wood. Air conditioning costs are minimal by comparison, for some heating a home costs upwards of several thousands of dollars per season when wood is not available.

Summer weather continues today, expecting 25 with sunshine.

Wow,that's a lot of money Buff.but I expect living where you do has a lot to do with it.Our natural gas heating bill and electric (for lights, washer etc) averages £1000 per year .My hubby would be burning the furniture if our bill was as high as yours.
The fans are in the loft until next year and next bed linen change, the winter duvet will be on the bed.I'm quite looking forward to that.

Beautiful day on the lake, warm with light winds. Spent half a day paddling , just trolling a couple of lures. Landed 16 bass for the day. I put them all back to fight another day. It was a fun day apart from loading and unloading the yak. Ron..

If I had natural gas my heating bill would be far less, I'd estimate it at $1500 for the year. Furnace oil is about $1.25 per liter. With snow on the ground for almost 7 months of the year, and with night time temperatures than are well below -20C often for weeks on end, it tends to run up the bill. My house is well insulated and was recently retrofitted with more insulation, and the furnace is up to date.

Its not easy for anyone on lower income, and the government is intent upon a carbon tax. I think this approach is wrong, nobody I know wastes energy at these prices we already pay.

No crocs Carol though I saw two eastern grey kangaroos having an early morning swim. They really seem to like the water and often use it in defence against dogs and dingos. On the east coast the area from Rockhampton to Harvey bay is considered about as far south as you will see crocs. That is changing gradually as our temps continuously seem to be getting higher each year. Wildlife experts consider it only a matter of time before crocs move south . The sex of the young crocs is reliant on the heat at which the eggs are incubated so you need the right temps to get a balance of male and female young. Crocs are a protected species in Australia. At some stage it may be necessary to gather newly laid eggs and incubate them in artificial conditions to maintain a balance. Ron.

Ron,I did know about the temp being important for the sex of hatchlings, but it's one of the millions of things that I've forgotten.Crocs are amazing creatures but who would want to swim with them ?
Same weather as the last few days here. There is a storm Helene forecast but looking at the map it should miss us here in the N.E.

DIANE....are you OK ?

We had another stormy night after a very steamy day yesterday. I have been able to turn away from the wood effort and focus on the snowmobile. Changing the track proved to be a major job, more trouble than I would like because of the lifting and awkward positions required to wrestle the track on, and getting it just right for the front sprocket to fit. Never did one before and probably the last one I will do given my stomach muscles didn't like it. Good job for those younger.

Hell-ooooo [ emphasis on the "hell" part because of the heat here ]
I just checked the temperature. It is °109 🤬. Thank God I have been inside all day today with my air conditioning turned on. I will "talk" more on another day and read some posts too. 💕

🌞HA! This sun is laughing at me.
I am not laughing at it.
BAD SUN 😠

G'day Lynda , good to see you. We were all getting a bit worried because we had not seen you for a while. Try to stay out of that heat, hugs Ron.

Glad to see you back Lynda, its been pretty quiet around here. We must have had a bigger storm than I thought as I woke up to no power and fired up the generator. During outages our internet sure speeds up. Very muggy 18C.

I read as far back as September 1st, but my memory isn't great.
I missed reading your stories 🤗.
Stay Cool or Stay Warm........depending on what part of the world you live in ⛄🌞

It is almost time for the summer transition where I take my jacket off and don't put it back on till the start of next winter. Hot sunny and dry. Ron.

19c and clammy. It can't decide what it wants to do.We're expecting the tail end of storm Helene off the Atlantic, this afternoon and tomorrow, but it will remain warm for September.

Yesterday was one of those days that started with a warm night followed by a day of dropping temperatures. At supper time it went down to 5C. I lit a small fire for the evening. Overnight its been sitting at 3C drizzling, and its on the cool side inside this morning. I will put the fire on later, I need to move dry wood into the inside wood bin, and keep going cutting wood.

I am slightly behind, but not by too much. Now I want to get ahead, just in case surgery is in my future. There is nothing more comforting than to come home from hospital to see a season's worth of wood piled at the house ready.

Have you been to see about your gall bladder issues Buff.or did I miss something ?

No Carol you did not miss anything for our medical system is slower than molasses in January's deep freeze. I had an appointment with the Surgeon a month ago and I am still waiting for their call for an appointment for the next step which is likely going to be a scope. Until then I have to wait and bear with it.

I pulled the window airconditioner and put the window back in. Those units have to come out when the weather cools out as they let in a lot of cold air no matter how well one seals them with tape. The house is warmer now, and one less thing to deal with.
Huge black bear in the yard first thing this morning. It ran off in fear which is a good thing, meaning its a bush bear that has not become accustomed to humans. This is only the second time I have had one in the yard this season, some years they are a serious nuisance.

Blowing a hooley here and warm.Gusts of about 60mph.This is being classed as our first storm of the year and has been named Ali.The west is having it worse than us in the east, with West Scotland and Ireland taking the brunt of it.A poor lady asleep in a caravan at a site atop a cliff in Ireland, was blown down to the shore below and sadly died before rescue could get to her.She must have been terrified.Being an ex caravanner I've spent many a windy night, wide awake.

Definitely coat off today, 30c with northerly winds. No fishing this weekend, one of the schools dropped off 35 machines for service. The sharks are getting active with the warm weather, a Tasmanian tourist was badly mauled swimming from a yacht yesterday afternoon on the barrier reef. She is serious but stable.Ron.

It's a lot calmer today.and 12c.Another storm (B) is on the way for the weekend.Although us Brits are known as weather whingers (mostly by the Aussies...wink) we usually don't have much to whinge about compared to other nations,Any bad weather usually lasts only a few days.
RON ...35 machines ??? What the heck have they been doing to wreck that many ?
Pace yourself my friend. You won't get any thanks for doing them all by Monday.

School hols Carol they haven't had them done for a while so I got lucky. The lady mauled by the shark has been flown to Brisbane in a critical condition and today a twelve year old girl was attacked in the same area. She was flown to hospital where she remains in a critical condition. The locals are blaming a bunch of tiger sharks seen feeding on a whale carcass in the same area. I hope they both make it. Cooler change coming thru overnight. Several serious bushfires burning in the south east with houses lost. The ground is so dry they are worried about the underground root systems catching fire and restarting surface fires weeks later. We really need some rain. Ron.

Here we are with rain warnings when others need the rain. I am going to put another tarp on the wood I have been working on and ride out the storm. The bear made a second appearance yesterday, but it bolted when I stepped out on the deck which is always a good sign. Its my fault for putting out the leftovers from the honeydue mellon rinds.

There is less food for bears to eat as fall progresses, so now I cannot put anything out, and vegetable fruit waste does not burn well, but there is no other alternative. As a precaution I keep the saws handy out by the shed in case I am stalked by one at the outhouse. A roaring chainsaw is effective bear repellent/protection.

Scarey but exciting and interesting Buff.We have enough trouble with the gulls though. My hubby would need to be chained up to stop him feeding the bear.Like you already know.....NOT a good idea. It's raining here now and it's forecast to be a wild night. That's the weather of course.

I have been trying to post but my puter is playing up. Do you service puters Ron50? i could send mine over lol.

Bucketing down and windy today. Storm Bronagh hasn't deterred my juvenile hedgepiggies though. Had a quick read of posts i'd missed whilst not being able to get on, but wouldn't let me post though. Wish we had your temps, Ron. It's dark at 7.15pm now. will have to put the heating on soon too. Not to mention the electric blanket.

Glad to see you D. I was wondering about you.Weather has been ok here.13c but blustery. We're having a shower now and the sun is out too so there'll be a rainbow somewhere.Glad the hedgies have shown up.

Well, today i have the small garden birds return. I have seen a variety of tits (skuze the language, lol), Robin is back and a few others.

Dull, drizzly and boring out. It's days like these i appreciate the dark evenings.

Mild and windy, not that I have noticed from under my pile of machines. At work again tomorrow. Looking forward to getting back on the water. I am not on the new diabetes med any longer but by 4pm I am usually down to under 5 with my blood sugar. Looks like that stuff reset my whole endocrine system. Ron.

When I was away from the house the bear returned to knock over the planter on the deck and then pulled my old fridge away from the wall, though it was empty. These animals have a lot of strength. I am glad for the deadbolts on my entry doors, I am sure a determined bear would have no problem pushing open doors without deadbolts.

Cold, we may get some wet snow overnight.

12c with sun and clouds and a cool breeze.Hubby is whinging about the cold and I've told him I'm going to send him over to you Buff for some real cold weather training. He says no wonder the poor bears try to get into folks homes, they just want a warm.

Have just waterproofed the cycling gear in readiness for autumn showers.

10 cms of fresh wet snow overnight, power is out and the generator is running. The trees are hanging heavy, they still have leaves. I cut up two trees that came down on the road in yesterday, the trail to the cabin is a mess and will take a lot of effort and time to clear the trees. Its that time of year.

We are supposed to get some light rain today but I have woken to clear and sunny. It is school holidays. The roads are crazy busy. The overnight temps are making sleeping uncomfortable. I would not mind a bit of that snow Buff but you can keep the bear. Ron.

Hello from another solar system 😄
°101
Hot & Sunny & Clear Skies & A Slight Breeze.
I had my mini-blinds and window open this morning because I just needed some "fresh air" and daylight coming into my apartment. There are a couple of large, nice trees in my courtyard, and their leaves rustle in the wind ( the sound is relaxing, even watching the trees move in the wind is nice.)
Now its 2:09pm and time to close the window and turn on the air conditioning ( sigh .)
Everyone take care of yourselves and have a good day. 🌻

Lovely and sunny, rather crisp out, no plain cold i think. Electric blanket on bed today and the brushed cotton bedding. I swear i'm going to put the heating on.

9c clear blue sky and sun, which I noticed while peddling yesterday,is getting lower in the sky.Cold for the next few nights too,but warming towards the weekend.

Warm and windy, no rain all day until this evening when we had a short sharp downpour that barely wet the road. Lots of fires burning around the state with some houses lost. I have a feeling it will get a lot worse before it gets better. Ron.

I would gladly add in a few bears to the snow delivery. Yesterday when I checked for storm damage I found the empty jug of 2cycle oil that the bear chewed into pieces. he must of liked the taste of the motor oil. Its been said that bear will eat anything and I believe that.
Its a bad sign that there are food shortages for animals, it does not surprise me given how much clear cut logging has taken place in the last ten years alone. During that time logging has become very aggressive destroying close to 80% of crown land forests in this township alone.
Unlike older cuts where younger growth and lower quality trees were left standing, today everything is cut to the ground, one could play golf where the forests once stood.

Cold clear fresh 10c. Mini heatwave on the way but the south will get the best of it.
Have stored my summer clothes and don't fancy getting them out again.Hubby, being a bloke, just has to wear a sweater over his t-shirt and he's ready. His heavy jackets are always close at hand, and I got the gloves, scarves and hats sorted.....bring it on !!!

Omg, heatwave? I just changed everything in my wardrobe. Seeing as we might experience that stuff called warm weather i'm sure i can rake out the shorts and tee shirts, lol.

Lovely and sunny today, had heating on for half hour this morning as the Raynauds is a problem now.

Well the forecast changed from a few good showers to no rain now expected. Of course the skies opened and some areas of the coast received over 80mm. We have had light rain all day and are expecting a bit more tomorrow. The shark attack victims from up north are slowly recovering in Brisbane hospitals. The public is now up in arms because fisheries have caught and killed several large tiger and whaler sharks in the area of the attack. You may wonder why people are upset. Mainly because large sharks of all species have been protected by fishery rules for several years. Fishermen in Qld are restricted to a bag limit of one shark in possession and it must not exceed 1.5 meters in length. So the dept of fisheries has by it's actions broken their own laws. They claim to be targeting the likely attackers but have no idea which species was responsible and they are being targeted indiscriminately with baited drum lines. It is a case of do what we say not what we do. The real cause of the attack is probably the dead humpback carcass which has been floating in the area for a couple of weeks. We are seeing tens of thousands of whales migrating the east coast now days . There are deaths as in every population and the large sharks are the garbage disposal units. Ron.

We went through all four seasons in 2 days. Sunday was winter with snow on the ground, and yesterday was as warm as many days are in summer. Today its gray damp and cool. Not the best arthritis weather. Havn't seen the bear in four days, I hope he has moved on, somebody else can have their turn with him.

It really annoys me when humans take the gung-ho opportunity to kill wildlife that may or may not be to blame for some mis-hap or other.Don't get me wrong I do understand ,somewhat, when culls might be necessary, but a lot of accidents occur because people have no regard for their surroundings or the wildlife that calls it home …..end of lecture,As my dad used to say "don't lecture to the converted".
Just seen a news flash that a Baluga whale has been spotted in the river Thames.

Yep, Beluga seems doomed, unfortunately. He's lost his pod, or whatever, and has lost himself. I sincerely hope his life is not lost. You'd think they could guide him back out to sea.

Yesterday i managed to get out with friends. I wore my thermal vest, long sleeve tee shirt and winter woolly. I had to peel off the layers in the loos. Was lovely and hot, and could reach around 22C today. Happy me.

Much the same as yesterday.Far too warm for me.I'm sure I should have been born into royalty,as I perspire when I do housework etc.when it's over 14c.I should have lackeys to fan me and peel my grapes. My hair is sticking to my forehead as if I'd swam the Channel.

I think we're being ignored here, Carol. Only us at the moment. Hope no one else's weather has been disastrous enough not to be able to report, lol.

Was lovely yesterday, but it's very cold this morning. No rain though. I am hoping it gets warmer later on. I swear i'm not ready for colder weather.

Storm season here with lots of hail. The first cyclone of the season has developed in the coral sea. It is the earliest cyclone on record. Not a good prospect for the summer. Ron.

13c but felt like 33c out the back.Went to shops without a coat....BUT trouble's on the way according to the forecast on my lap-top.

Parts of the Island of Sulawesi in Indonesia hit by a 7 + earthquake and a three metre tsunami. I fear that there will be casualties. There has been a lot of seismic activity in the area for some time between earth quakes and volcanoes. I'm glad that everything in Australia is no longer active . We are surrounded by extinct volcanoes (Glasshouse mountains) and I live at the base of an old volcanic plug. Ron.

I saw that on my PC yesterday. Those poor people. We have to remind ourselves, especially us in the UK,that we've got nothing to whinge about, weather wise.

11c,some clouds,but plenty of sunshine.

Sunny again but nippy again. Going to get colder. You should love it tomorrow, C.

That tsunami has taken many lives. Very sad. We too have no active volcanoes, just the few inactive. I think they're all up north, Carol. lol.

°101 from the other side of the planet ☀️. Is there any way to guide that beluga whale back to sea, I think I have seen that done ( on television shows ) with other marine animals. I am donating a couple of items to a Thrift Store so that I can reorganize my living room. I am going to buy a bookshelf and frame a few pictures, I am ready to change things around a bit.
Take Care and Stay Safe.
Lynda 🌻

I wish they would try and lead Benny the Beluga back out to sea. It's not looking good for him/her.

Lynda, Is storm Rosa headed your way?

Dull out and quite nippy too.

First thunder storm came thru early this morning and we had a series of them thru the day. Very windy and quite cool for here. Sun comes out tomorrow and things should heat up during the week.Ron.

No change here.Sounds like you're feeling better Lynda.I hung some pictures last week.
Hubby bought me six 6in.square pen and ink wildlife cards. So I framed and hung them.I had to donate a couple of things to make space for them, but they're a nice change.
