What is YOUR weather like today??

The low is gaining a lot of momentum. It is heading straight for us. They don't think now that it will cross the coast. Unfortunately the next time that they have been wrong won't be the first. By Wednesday and Thursday we are expecting large swells and heavy showers and that's if it misses. Ron.

-5 cloudy with a passing flurry. The bad weather going on in Ron's part of the world and the last big storm over Europe have made the news here too. Keep well everyone. My gallbladder is kicking up quite a storm, and ruined my night at the remote cabin, and not much better here. Will see the doctor in a couple days.

Hope they can do something for your GB asap buff . Mine went feral a few years back. It was kicking out small stones non stop. One blocked off my pancreatic duct and I finished up in hospital with acute pancreatitis. That pain was as bad as kidney stones. I lost my gallbladder but have had a lot of trouble with bile salt malabsorbtion in the years since. Best of luck . Ron.

A nice calm day here.7c and sunny.Another cold spell expected at the weekend, but as it's mid March and not November I'm not bothered....Buff,I hope you feel better soon.My GB went three years ago and I've had no bother at all.(I don't think)

Quite sunny and warm today. Haven't seen a hedgie, however, I have spotted a hedgie poo on my decking. Spring must be coming fast. As, Scottsma said, it's going to get cold at the weekend.

The low turned into a cyclone and is currently to the north east of me. They are expecting gale force winds for us for the next two days and very big seas. There is fairly cool water inshore at the moment so they think the cyclone will lose force quickly and revert to a low. They don't think it will cross the coast and with the rain we have already had we certainly don't need it to. I guess we will see what happens in the next couple of days. Ron.

Our public healthcare system moves at a snail's pace, and its with hope that my doctor will take action on my gallbladder. Everything I read about the symptoms said to seek medical attention. The problem is that I live rural far from the hospital and getting a referral for a surgeon often takes a lot of time. Perhaps she will consider my case urgent. Spring would be a good time to have the GB removed so that I have time to heal and get my firewood done before the next winter. I cannot heat with oil for financial reasons and wood heat is more even and comfortable.
Having said that, its cloudy -12 with a couple centimeters of fresh snow to brighten things up. It makes me want to go outside later.

I had my gallbladder removed in 1995. Wishing you well and I hope you can get your gallbladder issue taken care of in a timely manner.

When spring arrives, I'm glad to ditch the jacket and the weight of the winter clothes. Trading the boots for flip flops is a great relief.
2C with a breeze and flurry.

Snow, snow and more effin' snow!!!!!

Got over 2 feet 2 weeks ago, almost another foot a week later and between yesterday-today about 6 inches more!!!!!

The low hit the cooler water and has been downgraded . It is a couple of hundred kliks north east of me this morning. Strong s/e winds from a high in the Tasman sea have pretty well disrupted the spiral so we look to be safe from heavy rain and will just have the heavy swell.
Buff I had keyhole for my gallbladder. I had the op on a Friday night and was back at work by the following Tuesday. Ron.

Northern New England. We had 16" of snow yesterday- our 3rd Nor'easter in 2 weeks. spring is coming. 36*F today and melting- another possible snow next week- But we have power and heat so All is Good. I wouldn't live anywhere else!

73° at 8:45 p.m. here in the Phoenix Arizona area. USA. the weather will cool down tomorrow with a high of only 68 degrees which for Arizona is great. take care.

Welcome Dyana. :) Hello to you and yours in New England! I hope the snow melts soon for you folks. Ours is slowly thawing out here in BC.

It's been blowin' a hooley all night. The forecast says wind speed is 27-30mph but the gusts are stronger than than.Grey skies and trying to rain but the wind is holding it off.5c.but much colder with the wind chill.

The low has passed by now. We had some huge swells coming in and a lot of beach erosion. Some areas on the coast got up to around 90 kph with the wind. The sun is out again and we are back into 29-31 c with high humidity.I enjoyed the cooler weather last week except for the cramps at night. Ron.

Heavy showers, not so cold.... yet! It's going to become colder and with snow. Daffodils are out in some places and in lovely clusters. Am loving Spring, especially as the birds are singing beautifully. Will stay in again if it snows on the weekend. I don't drive in the snow, nor walk as a fall will probably break my bones.

-15 Cobalt blue skies overhead with very warm sunshine on my back on the way to the outside loo this morning. Tired but comfortable, and will be glad when I can tell all to the doctor.

My sister misses her daffodils, she used to live in a house with lots of planting in her front and backyard. Now she lives in a townhouse with no place to plant, she misses her planting as it was such an enjoyable thing for her to do. Now just one "daffy" in planting pot on her patio.

I don't think I could do without my garden as I spend so much time at home.
Sunny spells and not too cold yet. Tomorrow it arrives, the mini Beast from the East.

Heatwave in the southern states western Sydney was 39c today. It was hot and humid up here as well. Been a pain in the butt sort of a day. They are discontinuing adsl inter net in Australia . Everyone eventually has to go onto fibre optic high speed broadband. As usual the companies installing it have no idea of what they are doing. If you ask a question a blank look is the usual reply. I had my broadband installed today . I had to spend most of last night reconfiguring the modem before it would work. Fortunately it is all working now. Ron.

My broadband server wants me to have a new router (for free). They did this last year and instead of applying I ignored it.Until of course I had no choice. When they sent it,it took me two hours and three calls to Mumbai to fix it up.When I requested an engineer to call,I was told they no longer offer that service. Now after a little over a year they are offering another "upgrade".I'm not stupid, but I'm not very tech.minded, and if it aint broke why fix it ? I really can't be bothered...........Still raining heavily, windy and 3c.

I can never keep up with technology, as I just get used to using an application or interface they have to change it and I have to relearn everything.

Was at the doctor yesterday and she wants to monitor me further. Our public healthcare system moves at a snail's pace. It seems the only way to get anything done is to go to the ER when one is dead or practically dead, and by then even more damage has been done to our body's from the excessive waiting times.

It started snowing last night. We took two steps ahead... Oh well! C'est la vie!
Best wishes to you Bufford, take care. You certainly know enough to get help if you need it, I hope you don't have to though. Hang in there man.

-1c.windy with light flurries of the white stuff. But although the ground is dry (after 48hrs of non-stop rain) it's not lying.I think the south is getting it worse.

Buff. Our health system is almost grinding to a halt.I really would have to think twice if I was really sick.A lady in her 90s spent six days on a make-shift bed, with a broken back, last week. She was a retired nurse and had to lie in her own wee until some-one had time to see to her needs and a bed was vacant. The staff are doing a great job,it's the system that's failing. And the present government.

It has been a wild couple of days in the north . A cat2 cyclone rolled straight over the top of Darwin. It destroyed a lot of trees and flooded a fair bit of the town. It was just as well it was only cat two or there well may have been deaths. The population of Darwin seemed to forget the cardinal rule to seek shelter and stay out of the storm . There were idiots wandering around in 135 kph winds dodging flying debris. We are heading for more rain and high temps for the next few days. It has certainly not been a traditional autumn.
It is definitely the lure of money and not dedication That runs health anymore and unfortunately a lot of those running things have been promoted past their point of incompetence. Ron.

Australia's weather has been in the news often with the storms your speaking of Ron, hopefully you and your family is keeping safe. Chris I hope the forge is coming along, will it use coal or propane? The weather here has been very quiet. Our healthcare is much like yours Carol, we have had sitting rooms converted into wards, and patients are laying in cots lining the hallways. The staff here too go out and beyond to provide care.
Feeling somewhat better today, I certainly don't want to end up at the ER given how full the place is at any given time.
0C cloudy, expecting it to cool off and clear later on. I am going to start prepping the green pile down the driveway by shoveling it out to expose the wood to the sun so it can dry off. Then I can start making like a beaver when it warms up enough to take the heavy clothes off.

Still thawing here, I'm busy with paperwork again for most of today so the weather can do what it likes. I'm going to use coal in my forge, Bufford. Yesterday, somehow, I managed to get several pieces of the steel frozen to the ground. Time for the old tiger torch, works like a charm! ;)

Traditional forging with coal is a good way to go, it takes more skill to maintain a steady heat, but its going to be far cheaper than those propane forges that roar away like jet engines. Have you watched Forged in Fire? Its interesting, and good entertainment. Sometimes there is a little bit too much Hollywood, but then again its a good show that brings out talent.

I haven't checked that one out yet, Bufford. I'll try out an episode tonight most likely. It's 7 PM and the sun is shining, light cloud cover and 8c in the shade.

Whilst the people of Darwin have been cleaning up their post cyclone mess, the residents of western Victoria have been forced to evacuate several towns as a heatwave sparked wild bushfires that have destroyed a dozen farms and tens of thousands of livestock including sheep ,beef and dairy cattle. Things are not much better near Sydney where the temps hit 40c and several fires started. Ron.

Oh Lordy, that's sad Ron.I feel so sorry for the people who've lost their homes, livelyhood and stock. Those poor creatures,it's enough to give me nightmares.

Woke to a layer of snow, but it has cleared with the traffic and footfall. Here at the coast, anyway. We've had light flurries and a threat of blizzards, but it came to nothing.

Oc degrees.

Had my heating up to 30C but thermometer says 18C. Bloody freezing, numb fingers and will be getting into bed with the cats and electric blanket at this rate. Loads of snow outside, but it has now stopped and will hopefully do a melting job fast. I wish.

Have you men up in cabins watched Mountain Men? I love that programme, lol. Says me freezing my fingers off and whinging about the British weather.

Australia stays true to form with its extreme weathers. Stay safe, Ron50.

What Ron describes sounds like a weather war zone, and its been making the headlines here too. Yet here its been quiet, no new snow in well over a week. Today its -5 cloudy with no wind, gentle by comparison.
I enjoy watching Mountain Men, these people are living the dream. I feel sorry for Preston the logger who died of cancer last year.

I'm sat here watching the two episodes. Love those mountain men. Mind, we have fine snow again so it looks like it's not going to melt after all. We have an amazing chill wind. I've fed the birds loads today.

Hot ,just over 30c and very humid today. cooler weather predicted for later in the week. Ron.

We used to have a fairly remote cabin growing up, it was really great spending summers out there. It did have electricity and a well with a pump though. I'll never forget that big beautiful lake to wake up to every morning, Kootenay lake to be exact. It's over 1000 feet deep in places, great sturgeon fishing back in the day.

Currently, it's just above freezing and rainy outside.

The snow is still on the ground but at least the sun is out. Going to warm up well this week. Double figures perhaps. I hope so. Why do I suspect that our April showers will be April snow showers.

Cmack, what a lovely childhood home that sounds. So peaceful and at one with nature.

The streets are dry but there's still some snow in corners and cracks. It's 3c and cloudy but there is some blue sky too, which is nice to see.Temps here will rise to 7-9c in the next day or two.I had a little look at my "summer clothes" which have been folded away since October. It'll be good to throw off my vest and wooly socks......I know your woollies won't be to far away, even in summer Diane.

Still hot and humid but some relief coming., tho they are predicting two more cyclones forming , one in the gulf, the other in the coral sea sometime next week.
The areas hit by bushfires in Victoria are counting the cost today. Eighteen properties gone along with whole herds of livestock. Very sad. It was even worse in southern new south wales. A firestorm started in a swamp , jumped across the Bega river and all but destroyed the small seaside town of Tarthra. Over 70 homes and businesses were destroyed overnight. It is a tribute to bushfire coordination in Australia that in Victoria and NSW no lives were lost and no one was seriously injured. It made me very sad to see what happened to tarhra. I spent a lot of time fishing the area when I was younger. They refer to the area as the emerald coast and it is quite beautiful. Ron.

The remote cabin is in my blood. My family had a cottage near Bancroft that was water access and remember the changing seasons, and free living. The experience made me move to Thunder Bay and after I could no longer take the ridiculously late sunrises and sunsets in that community and lack of employment I moved west deep into the Boreal, and also built a remote cabin on the far end of my 160 acre lot. Its on a small lake, self contained and power comes from the generator. I love going there, but am finding it difficult due to CD and aging issues. Both the house and cabin require hard work, and it sure keeps me going.

Thanks Buff.Like Diane,I love to hear your little bits of news and life style tales. And you too of course Chris.Although I'm a townie and live 5mins from the coast,I've always loved wildlife and wilderness. We spent a lot of time in the Scottish Highlands, and we wouldn't stop anywhere there were other cars parked.Cars meant people and we didn't want to share the beauty and wildness and quiet, with anybody else except our dogs.
Ron.I'm really sad re: the destruction due to the fires.I really think this planet is fast reaching it's end.It sure hasn't taken the human race very long to hasten Armageddon.:yfrown::frown:

I love a spot on the planet where there is no one and nothing man-made. Just solitary little me and nature. Buff, what a wonderful life you've had. Cmack, All the years I lived on the north Cornish coast I never once went down the beach. So touristy, and the thought of having to queue for the loo is distressing to say the least.

There was still a few snow drifts along a couple of lanes I travelled today. Pleased to be home again too. Still cold out there.

I have been living in Arizona for quite a number of years now, but believe it or not I can totally understand your struggles with the snow and ice and bad weather. I grew up in Minnesota and all of my relatives are from the Midwest region of the United States. And my ancestors immigrated here from Norway and Germany. Take care and stay safe.:hang:

Oh, I see three other people from the USA here.:panda: Sidenote: A cabin sounds heavenly. I live in the city in an apartment complex full of people ; people who come and people go here (move in / move out.) Everytime I hear loud music, screaming children and people fighting I start dreaming of having a cabin in Montana with a wrap-around porch with a rocking chair on the porch and watching the falcons fly in the sky. Oh, I got a bit carried away with that

Lynda, maybe if all us crohnies clubbed together Buff and Chris could build us a time share.? Maybe beside a lake, with a little boat? And I've always dreamed of a wrap round veranda with a rocker or two..........

7c calm and sunny...BUT there is a white Easter on the cards.

There is another cyclone building in the gulf. The one that hit Darwin has moved offshore on the west coast where it is now a cat 3 or 4 and may go to 5. Rain predicted here tomorrow I hope it does not get too bad. there are stories of carpet pythons being found and removed from houses on the coast every night on the news. I hope they don't know something that we don't. Ron.

The signs are everywhere that the planet is under stress. In my area clear cut logging is the problem. In the 35 years years living here I have witnessed tall proud productive forests full of moose and other wildlife all but dissapear.
Everything for as far as the eye can see is cut down. They even purposely cut down grind up and destroy small unmarketable trees until absolutely nothing is standing except for a few broken trees and stumps. After that they fly in, or use heavy equipment to spray herbicides to kill everything off. The chemical used is similar to agent orange. Then they plant genetically engineered seedlings turning the area into industrial tree farms that are devoid of animals, berry bushes or anything else that pertains to a real living forest. Everything is about consumption, money and greed.

I'm not sure about the trees they plant here, they don't seem to grow very well anyways. I'm pretty sure it's some kind of spruce, it should be Douglas fir, various pine varieties, birch and poplar too. My grandpa was the head forest ranger out here back in the day, he would be outraged at what has been done. Another slow melt day here, 1c and cloudy.

5c and slightly overcast. The back of our place faces south and I've been doing jobs outside and I'm not ashamed to say I had quite a sweat going, and I was coatless. It has reminded me that I'm not a fan of summertime. It was the Spring Equinox yesterday so today will be slightly longer than last night and so it will go on until late summer.I think our clocks go forward this weekend or maybe next, too.

Cyclone Marcus (the one that hit Darwin) is now sitting out in the indian ocean as a cat5 storm. They don't know which way it will go. They are now 90% sure another one is forming in the gulf of Carpentaria and will move east. We have had a bit over 40mm here today. I am getting mightily sick of rain and wind. Ron.

-18 again overnight, night time temperatures have been colder, but during the day it nears the freezing mark. Good for a slow melt and transition into spring with less chance of flooding if it keep it up.
Carol we went through the time change a couple of weeks ago and my body has not adjusted, it feel like the day is being rushed. I am inside now getting supper ready when I am usually still outside, and sleep is disrupted when I want to stay up. In the mornings I give in and simply sleep, I will not be a slave to the clock in retirement and my body needs any rest it can get. Our internal battery gets weaker as we age.

It felt quite like a nice Spring day again today. The clocks Spring forward this weekend, whooppeee! Just came back from a writing class. 8 miles of a very quiet country lane and i didn't spot one iota of nature. Strange. There should have been bunnies, Muntjacks, badgers, vermin, owls etc. Not one thing, not even insects. Such a strange eeriness about it. Depressing really. Haven't seen a hedgehog yet either. Still some snow about and we're expecting a tad more. I so wish this Winter will p*** off. I shouldn't complain Ron50 has it worse i think. No, i didn't spot a snake either, i'm pleased to say.

Some people think there are insects on the Moon Diane, but they're just Lunar Tics....:rof:

A nice Spring day here.Mild temps.sunny and windless.
Buff,I too wish they'd stop messing with the time.I'm sure it was stopped in Oz a few years back.I think it was done so that farm workers could get out to feed the stock and work the land, back in the day. With all the hi-tech machinery,it's uneccessary now. Also,it was safer for kids to get to school on lighter mornings.90% of them are now driven there and back by parents,so that doesn't matter any more either.

They are on daylight saving in the southern states. Qld had a referendum on it and decided they did not want it. Now we are just waiting for the rest of the states to come to their senses. We have been averaging nearly an inch of rain every day for the past two weeks . I am getting mighty tired of it. The heat has only been in the high 80 c's but the humidity has been dreadful. Ron.

I thought that they had done away with DST in the whole UK. I have been watching this unfolding hoping that we could dump DST as I could surely use that wasted hour of daylight at the end of the day used for our mornings to brighten and warm them up more. Bright mornings are my thing, and if its not I keep on sleeping until it is. I did more than my fair share of waking to darkness and going to work in the cold and darkness.

-18 cold and clear. Thought about going to the remote cabin today, but last night was a rough one tossing and turning to try to throw off the cramps.

Well it actually got up to 12c here today, but is starting to drop steadily towards dusk, which will be approx.two hours from now.I'm a good sleeper since I started taking Amitriptilyne a couple of years ago. It's supposed to aid Tramadol regulate pain.I can sleep 9-10hrs during winter, but despite having blackout blinds at our south facing bedroom window,I will wake at about 6am during summer ,which suits me fine.I get things done early in the day,and then I can sit staring into space if I feel like it.

Carol, you really made me laugh there. It might be the Tramadol and Amytriptaline (sic) that makes you want to sit and stare, lol. I tried amy once and felt somewhat suicidal. I'll stick to what I've got. CBD is helpful with sleep i think. Noticed a difference anyway.
More daffs out, chilly wind, not much sun. Still some snow to melt. I'm beginning to think it's Russia and HAARP, lol. I should be on the moon with that one!

Ron50, you just don't get the ideal day, do you? You have my sympathy.
Buff, how far is that remote cabin, and in the snow?
Lynda, could you post some of that weather to the UK? We'd be really grateful.
OMG! i can see an advert under this post as i type, and it is for ..... SENOKOT... EXTRA STRENGTH. Does that get you going???? What's going on?

The temperaure here is nice right now, but so much dust here and no flowers and lush trees like there were during my childhood in Minnesota. Of course there must be many of rainstorms to feed those flowers and trees. I miss the four seasons, well maybe I only miss three of them. I don't miss winter. DST ... well Arizona is the only state, except Hawaii, that does not go on DST. We are always the oddballs here ! :duh:

Must say sleeping is a nice experience. Wish i could sleep those hours all in one go. I fall asleep during the day sometimes too.

Trying to brighten up outside. Can't believe we're getting two more cold snaps with snow. Hopefully it will be up north only. You'd like a bit of snow rather than Spring heat, wouldn't you, Carol. lol.

Had a hedgepig here last night. Didn't get to see him but the food in the hedgehog house has all vanished.

Cyclone has ramped up in the gulf. Expected to be cat 4 by tomorrow afternoon when it is expected to make land fall. It may continue across cape York or it may reverse and head back across the northern territory. Time will tell. Still heavy showers here mainly morning and night.
Saw my GP this morning . He wanted to start me on Cymbalta immediately. I told him to stick it where the sun don't shine. I think I will look for a new GP, one that has a brain. Ron.

Tramadol gets me hyper which is nice and I miss haven't taken one in a couple weeks and ya hard times. I was looking for the Ark yesterday and of course had to pick up family from the airport so fun.

No complaints about the weather here either, late season conditions, mild days cold nights and no new snow. The snowpack is hard now making it easy to get around, we could use a little bit of new snow to freshen things up, but not a big dump that will add to the melt later. Better night last night, but still tender enough to keep me on a short leash close to the house.

Probably a good decision Ron, when a doctor isn't making any improvements its time to seek another opinion before things get worse. We know our body's better than anyone else, and unfortunately we only get one, so its important to protect it. Doctors are only human.

8c and breezy....Di,I'm still taking CBD oil
maybe that's why I sleep for 10rs ?

I had trouble sleeping awhile back and decided to simply pour a drop of cannabis oil into my mouth without using the measuring syringe. Well I poured in over a teaspoon and I was so stoned I couldn't move in bed, and my mouth was so dry I thought I could gag myself. I won't make that mistake again, those concentrated oils are potent stuff.

Yup, that's quite a serious dose... You would have been great as an extra in one of the Cheech & Chong movies. To be serious though, I hope you are feeling better soon Bufford.
The weather here is so terrible, the birds are flying sideways... ;)

Hey, I wanna be high ! (Those edibles sound delicious.)

I'm not sure having the loosest gun laws in the USA and legalizing marijuana go well together, but I guess I will find out when the legalizing marijuana bill goes to be voted on the next time here in Arizona.:emot-waycool:

7c with weak sunshine and no wind....Is this the calm before the storm ? They're still forecasting a White Easter.

Hold off with the bedding plants Di.,...I hope the hedgies that are out don't suffer in the cold spell. It's hard to believe such an endearingly pretty little creature is getting near to "endangered."

Dull, drab and raining. The birds are off mating i think. Certainly a lot fewer than over the white spell. Mind, i'm hoping the next white spell is much further north than me.

Buff, that was so funny. I shall stick to my dropper and a low dose.

Brighter today and no rain. Still haven't seen the hedgehog out but he's scoffing his food.

The cyclone in the gulf came ashore this morning and beat up some remote communities and left them flooded. They think it will now head west into the gulf again and reform. It may then head towards the northern territory. It did cause some severe flooding on the East coast around Cairns. Another short lived cyclone popped up in the Coral sea but was downgraded to a low as it hit cooler waters. we are expecting some wind and rough seas from that in the next week. Cyclone Marcus has wandered around the Indian ocean since it trashed Darwin and now it is descending on Perth as a west coast low. They are expecting big seas ,strong winds and heavy rain. Ron.

A really nice spring day again.Got two loads of laundry dry out doors. Then a two hour cycle to and around Marina.Had a really bad start to the day with cramps and nausea, but it only lasted four hours,so that's OK.Still feel "delicate" but glad I made the effort for a peddle....Di., how do you know that it's a hedgie scoffing the food ? I might be a brown rat or a weasel. And are your fish OK ?

Omg, hadn't thought of a rat! I don't particularly like to either. Right, i shall have to trail some food so it comes into light. But if it's a rat i shall have a brick ready to lob at it. lol.
two fish died. They were lovely and big and i loved them. Will clean ponds out with help from neighbour and restock. I should have popped them in a bucket and brought them in for duration, silly me.

Sunny out now. I'm going nowhere, simply cannot afford to be away from the loo today. I'm feeling for you, Carol.
