What is YOUR weather like today??

I see Canada's temps have overtaken ours well and truly. Ron's winter is also warmer than our summer. I'm quiet jealous. Actually it was just the one downpour today and i happened to be on the bus. It's lovely to feel some warmth when the wind doesn't blow. First social day out tomorrow and i expect 100 downpours lol. What a pessimist i am!

It's 16c and sunny here. Thanks, Carol. It's mostly affecting my sleep. I think it's going to be okay though. I've been taking prescription muscle relaxants (Flexeril) to help whenever I'm not having to drive or think... This shoulder has been hurt way worse in the past, I separated it back in the good old rugby days.... That REALLY hurt. I couldn't do bench press for two years or so. My best to all!

We are back to showers as the wind has turned from SW off the land to SE off the sea. The whales are starting their migration up the east coast and the collateral damage has started with a 50 yr old surfer killed at Tuncurry on the central NSW coast by a 4.5 m great white shark. The lifesavers sent up drones after closing the beach and spotted 3 sharks between 3 & 4.5 meters off the beach. All were great whites. Ron.

Bourton-on-the-Water was lovely. It bucketed down as soon as we got there, but dried up after that. It was so lovely just to go somewhere at last. It's been quite sunny this morning but now there are dark clouds around. Got my bloods taken successfully on Monday and my ca-125 is back at it's normal number. I did have a diabolical crohns phase, but that seems to have cleared up. I suppose it can move the numbers up. The crohns is right by my ovary so could pick up inflamation from the crohns. Feeling a bit better now. Not going to have a follow up with oncologist for 3 months now instead of each month. ~And apparently i finish chemo tablets in December. I thought i'd be on them for life but the NHS only provide these for 2 years only. That was a surprise.

14C Raining. The clock timed out a couple days ago and we are now facing thick clouds of very friendly but hungry black flies. Yesterday was warm humid and overcast the kind of weather that brings clouds of these little beasts out, crawling up one's nose, in one's mouth and drilling behind one's ears. Enough to drive a normal human being crazy. I'll be spending more time indoors in the following days and weeks.

Sounds awful, Buff. I'd get peed off with them i'm sure. We used to have tonnes of gnats, but insects are in decline here.
Whoopee! Hedgie and i had an encounter yesterday. Wonderful to see one. It made my day.
Definitely autumnal weather here. Raining with good gusts of wind. I went out yesterday so i don't need to go out today. I'm stopping in where it's warm.

Still cool but not really cold. Pretty strong SE winds bring in nuisance showers. For all the rain we have had none of it has fallen in the right areas so our major dams for SE Qld are quite low and we will be looking at water restrictions by the end of winter. Another shark attack today this time at Broome on the west coast. A ten foot tiger shark bit a skindiver on the arm. Ron.

17C cloudy with showers. We have been experiencing warm conditions with rain which is highly unusual around here at this time of year. However to the west out on the prairies they have been getting snow, it wouldn't surprise me that over the next few days we will feel the chill as rains often end as flurries as storm systems pull away at this time of year

I've not had my lawn mown yet as the snowdrop bulbs haven't died back and we're not far off of June and the longest day of the year. Weird weather indeed, Carol. Still awaiting my flowers to start showing. Nothing much yet though a do have a few flowers about to open on my wisteria. I feel for the birds and other critters.

Warm and humid 25C everything growing under the warmth and sunlight. Despite that the black flies are thick and heavy and went wild while I was washing out the wine fermenter with the hose. I'll take the warmth while we have it, colder air is laying just to our north. Not sure if the cold front will come in with a bang of a storm later on, or just slide in as a back door front.

25C sounds good. What i would give for that temperature! Heavy showers again. I gather you like a nice bit of wine Buff. I used to help my aunt make hers. She loved wine making, apart from when the demi-johns blew their tops. That was a bit of a mess to clear up. Are black flies attracted to humans like mosquitoes? Or are they just en masse and colliding with humans and animals? How's the cat by the way? Mine is 17 on the 30th May. She's a sweet old lady, bless her.

There's nothing like coming home to a roaring fire and sitting down in your wooly hat with a hot cup of tea warming your stiff fingers, while your breath turns to steam in the crystal chill of bright summers day in England....it's been the coldest May for 25yrs......,I'm surprised the Xmas crap's not in the shops.........13c and cloudy with a soft breeze. No wurries here though.

2C under sunshine with an icy breeze. Yesterday was a very warm humid day reaching 27C in the afternoon, then came the light thunderstorm at supper time. The temperature fell from 27 down to 7 in less than two hours, by dusk it was only 1C with a cold drizzle and that northeast wind. I am running the furnace this morning. Di the big orange cat is curled up on the recliner and I do like my glass or two of red wine at supper. Making my own wine with those wine kits are easy and saves me money at the same time. With it being very cool the black flies will not be so active, giving me a chance to get a few things done outside that would have been impossible during the past few days when it was nice and warm. Got to roll with the punches.

15c and sunny.Lots of rolling clouds threatening rain, but I managed to get the bedding dried in a couple of hours so it can rain now if it wants to.We had a nice walk after lunch but it pains me to admit we're getting slower and slower. But at least we try.It seems like only last week since I did three high density aerobic classes a week, but it's 20yrs ago. .At least I can still manage the peddles.Hahaha

I went off to Stratford upon Avon yesterday. It bucketed down on arrival, but remained rain free for the rest of the trip. Not exactly as busy as it would normally be i must say. Normally there are tourists galore from all over the world trailing everything Shakespeare. I notice where ever i go there are many, many closed shops and businesses. It really is a sorry state of affairs.

Carol, i was just thinking this morning that we've not had any good weather and the longest day is around 3 weeks again and the bloody xmas stuff will be on shelves in just 12 weeks. This year is a depressing year. And... Many moons ago i used to go to karate where i used to do my black belt stuff lol. Wow, those were the days.

Really overcast today, but i hope to snip some grass although it's too wet to mow. Ron, hope you're ok. Login and talk to us. What's the weather doing down under?

For some reason all of my emails stopped. I was not getting anything from anybody. I got onto my telco and sorted it out today. It is cool and windy and it will be extra cool on the weekend with ant-arctic winds coming from down south. I received an appointment from the cardiac clinic last week. The last two have been 3 minute telephone consults. They did an ECG today then told me that i have remained the same or even improved and they say there is no point in dragging me in every year so if I have any problems let my doctor know and they can arrange an appointment. Ron.

That's good news Ron eh ? or as good as you're gonna get anyway. It's 2yrs since Les's cancer scare and he has a final phone consultation next month, then he's on his own.
It's very wet today but fairing up for Whit weekend, not that it makes a difference to us.It was good to see you having a nosey on LOWs.,we're getting short of visitors these days.

Yesterday was chilly, today its nice, but only for one day and then its back to the cold with night time temps below freezing. I'll take in the good weather and do some reading out on the deck. I started up the snowmobiles yesterday to run the engines, the sound and smells remind me of better times, but the looming black flies were a reminder of the reality that its going to be many months before that returns. Time seems to stand still, between the time of year we are in, together with all the covid restrictions.

Omg, i feel knocked off my feet today. I think i've over done everything lately. At least, i hope it's only that. Had to cancel my trip to Oxford today. Could hardly get out of bed. I did it only because i was afraid i wouldn't get through on the phone not to expect me. So i got dressed, but managed to get through. I'm pleased, just in case it's something else. I've got a self testing kit i might use if very poorly for the rest of the day and tomorrow. Can't imagine getting anything done today. The weather has changed for the better! Typical, i'm going to be stuck in today, lol. Ron, pleased it was just the internet problem. Can't imagine Aus with Antarctic weather, but world weather is weird.

Once again we have had another wild swing in the weather. It rose to 26C yesterday under sunshine and I enjoyed the time out on the deck and re potted the fern plant from the living room. Then the thunderstorm came out of nowhere, luckily we caught the edge of the storm and had to run the generator for 6 hours with the resulting power outage. Overnight temps plunged to 4C this morning with that cold northerly wind. The cool conditions will keep the black flies down, and with hope I can get a few things done outside.

Buff you must be able to buy a head net over there ? I had one that I wore over a ball cap and it kept the Scottish Midges off my face and neck.
Lisa,hope you're keeping well.
Di., feel better soon, glad you have the sense to rest when your below par.Hopefully you've just been doing to much.
We used our testing kits at the weekend. Honestly, you'd think I was doing brain surgery without anaesthetic on Les.
A wet start today but faired nicely.Had a mooch 'round the charity shops in a town up the coast and did our bit to save the planet.

Lovely day here and 15c heading into the 20s for the weekend.
There are plenty folk who've done nothing all their lives so they go into retirement not finding life much different. It's those who've worked and kept busy from childhood that find it difficult to sit still without feeling guilty.
Les couldn't believe he was getting money in the bank (pension) for doing nothing although he'd worked since 11 years old.(after school at his dad,s place)......WHERE ARE YOU CHRIS ??????

2C under clear skies. It went down to -6C overnight resulting in a hard frost. Chances are good that the berry crop will be held back by the freeze and that will result in more bears hanging around looking for garbage later on in the summer. It might be a good time to place an order for more bear spray, and keep a can or two with in easy reach.
Di don't sweat it, any day that I can sit down and read is a good day, we all need to take a time out. My body does exactly the same thing as yours when it runs down and needs rest. I am looking forward to some warm weather to return so that I can catch up on some reading and needed rest. I've worked enough and deserve pay back, its the way the body is telling us to slow down.

Hi all, had another rough night, but to be honest i can think clearer today. I slept twice yesterday during the day. I don't normally do anything like that, but i think i got up from my first sleep and insisted i wake up and be normal. My body doesn't want that at the moment. So i'm just taking it easy for the rest of the week and hopefully enjoy the sunshine. I have put some winter bedding on the line and pulled some weeds. I got some books from charity shops when in Stratford i shall park myself on the sofa with the cat (if she wants my company) and get some reading done.

Was lovely and sunny this morning but it's clouded over now. Today i'm taking the electric blanket off my bed, simply to coax my psychology into shifting into summer mode. I'm sick of our weather.

I have a little nap after lunch every day. It used to be a problem because I then could not get to sleep at night. My body clock seems to have reset so now I can go to sleep whenever I want . Very windy at the moment with large swells from the Vic border to Frazer Island in Qld. Little or no rain around my area. Ron.

No Di the rodents are picking on NSW. I have seen some bad ones tho in my time. WE drove to South Australia from Canberra one year and the roads out around Mildura was just a carpet of mice. I steam cleaned under my car twenty times before I got rid of the stink and the sound they made when you were driving thru them was like a horror movie. Ron.

5C sunny, but it did go down to -3C overnight. We have had quite a bit of frost damage, any colder and it may have caused the trees to drop their leaves and start over. Ron, one question about the mice infestation on your roads; did they become dangerously slippery? Further south in the province they get catterpiller outbreaks where blankets of these worms cover the roads as they migrate and become a slippery stinking slime that need to be sanded to stop vehicles from sliding off the roads.

Not a problem where I ran into them Buff the roads out there were gun barrel straight. We were not game to drive fast but but it was not wise to slow down too much and we certainly did not stop. It freaked a lot of people out. Unfortunately it always occurs in years of a bumper grain harvest. Ron.

Sounds awful Ron. Chris seems to be on a 10 day holiday. Hope nothing untoward has happened. I know he hurt his shoulder, perhaps i
he's one handed at the moment. Hopefully all is well.

Lovely and sunny this afternoon. I've just been lazing about though. Will do a tad more weeding in a bit. It's the tangle bine stem weed that seems to grow about 1ft per day! Awful. Hope you're not suffering Carol. Stay away from the crowds.

10C Somewhat warmer, but the warmer weather comes with increased black fly aggression. All we can do is wait and live through these waves of biting flies. Ron, thinking back on the critters crossing the road, I remember driving home after the evening shift in summer when the frogs were crossing the road, the awful sound they made when they popped under the tires. I hope things are going okay for Chris.

Another 17c sunny day, supposed to rise into the mid 20s next week. sigh!!!
No doubt the great unwashed will be swarming the streets, getting happy and hugging a kissing.....not that there's anything wrong with kissing....if you keep your mask on WHERE'S CHRIS ??? show yourself man.
I'm around.

8C cloudy, feels like more rain. Yesterday was a good day, cool, dry, low humidity made it possible to change the oil and lube the truck, then I went one step further and worked on clearing fallen trees on the trail to the cabin. The black flies let me know they were around, but if I kept moving and with the chainsaw running it was manageable. I would like to do more today, but with the humidity it may not be possible. Glad all is well Chris.

Cool and overcast. All the cloud is high cloud and not producing rain. The whole east coast is getting pounded by strong surf and winds. Lord Howe and Norfolk island are both suffering from heavy seas. The mice problem shows no signs of easing. We have an outbreak of covid in Victoria. Most of it is the Indian variation. It is thought to have escaped from quarantine . We use hotel quarantine in Australia for residents returning from overseas hotspots. Unfortunately the aircon in these hotels is not designed to stop the spread of aerosol infections. I'm due this month for my second covid jab. Doctors are now suggesting that the levels of adequate protection are not achieved with some of the variants unless you have had the second dose. I will be very surprised if we won't need boosters every twelve months. Ron.

It has been beautifully sunny lately. This morning is lovely too. Finally a different neighbour mowed our lawns lol. It was rather bad. Must say it's looking lots better and i've not got my baskets and tubs sorted. What's the bets we have a lovely summer this year but i'll probably be watching catchup sport on tv. It's the euro footie and olympics too. Entertaining i hope. I don't hold up much hope for the England football team though.

I had my CT scan yesterday afternoon. The contrast I had to swallow was volatile and purged my entire system in less than two hours. I had to go twice before the scan, and 9 more times afterwards. They have thunderous roaring toilets at the hospital and people took notice with a little humor when I would exit the bathroom only to turn around and go back in and flush again. Four of those trips took place at the grocery store and one more behind the dumpster in the parking lot. I was running clear and they could have done a colonoscopy in the aftermath of it all.
My only concern is that the receptionist from the GI doc called this morning to let me know I will have a phone appointment with the doctor about the results tommorow. I hope its not too serious, yet I sure hope they found the source of my pains.

We are expecting some rain today. Nearly all the systems in winter originate in the west and flow to the east. What you watch on the WA weather map today you can expect here in two days.
Since having my gall bladder out several years ago I suffer from bile salt diarrhea . My liver dumps bile salts direct into my gut and it sweeps all before it. If have a meal at my favorite cafe , my next schedule is a visit to the loo. I can control it with Questran lite which binds the bile salts but then I risk constipation which is a far greater risk to my health than the diarrhea. Any trips I go on are planned on available loos. Ron.

Questran light is also full of sweetener. They do this for the diabetic patients and ignore those with IBD. It's bizarre. My anti diarrhoea meds don't work well for this reason. Useless big pharma. Buff, i sincerely hope your results are good, but if you have pain then hopefully they will find what is causing it. Is it crohns related? I totally identify with the desperate loo visits. My food can go straight through. I've got awful Cachexia since cancer. Must have been the chemo i think. I've given up on bikinis too, Carol. I look extremely scrawny these days. Think my ovaries have wrecked my estrogen and collagen. I seriously look a lot older than i am. I should save for a facelift, lol. But unfortunately i mean it. Thank god for face masks. Lynda, i'm jealous of your lovely temps. Knowing my luck it would give me a stroke. We're not expecting rain today here, Ron, but the weather is overcast and very humid.

One thing crohnies must have is a sense of humour or irony.I once "went" during a ct scan.Me and the table had to be hosed down, then they had to start again.Ron,I had my GB removed about 5-6 yrs ago and no-one at the clinic has mentioned associated problems.I'll make a note for my next appointment.Di.,it matters not how you look but how you feel.
16c and busy at the coast.Lots of surfers in the sea and pedestrians on the prom which we cycled through with a smile. Hope your phone call is positive Buff....

Oh, well, not so nice again today. Really overcast and gloomy. When they mention better temps then all we get is heat and no sun it just makes it rather humid. Not much fun, but no black flies, although we are to expect false widows to be looking for us by hiding in our clothes and bedding. I actually think i had that experience once. Was just getting into bed and something bit my leg. Couldn't find what it was as it must have gotten flung as i leapt out of bed. The bite area was horrible for quite a while. The papers today mention they will particularly be in bedding and clothing. How very reassuring.

Unfortunately our covid numbers are bloody well back up. this is too much really. We now have a Nepalese variant. They don't like labelling the nations anymore, so like storms, they are looking to give them alphabetical names. Obviously expecting this to be forever. Well, i know it's here now and is, but when can we get on with living? It's awful when you know you're probably looking at more lockdowns. Stay safe everyone and cheerful too if poss. Nice to see you here again Chris, hope all is well with you.

22C warm and it may get hot, I am thinking about stuffing the airconditioner into the window this afternoon. I discussed with the doc the results of the scan, it showed some inflamation in the rectal area below the stoma, but the stricture didn't show up well. My colon and small bowel look pretty good. People here are getting fed up with the rules, many hair salons decided to open against the rules and had fines handed out. IMO these types of services that require close contact should be the last to open. Covid is active and we are still having a national death rate about the same as one bus or plane crash worth of people per day. The logging now threatens the lands near my ski trail, they won't be happy until they drop the last tree and spray the last hectare of indigenous land with their herbicides.

Our weather turned to rain. You should be here Carol. It's not too hot and quite cloudy. Buff, pleased not too much is wrong. Hope they can treat your pain now. Some of our businesses opened up despite rules and got fines too. It's rather sad, but that's how it was. We have hairdressers and beauty salons open now, but no nightclubs (not that i want one, lol). Your ski trail will look different next winter i expect. It's especially sad for all the wildlife.

We have strong SW winds at the moment .The wind chill is making things seem colder. The forecasters are saying we will be having a warmer winter than normal this year and there will be a lot less snow than normal. Usually we have up to 3 meters of snow on the southern alps in winter. They are saying that we will only get a meter or less in the future. I am no great lover of snow but it will be a lot dryer in the snow country when it melts. Ron.

We had a storm last evening that knocked the power out and the generator is running. No damage here, but the neighbor has a mess with a lot of trees down in their yard. The hot weather worked up the storm, and it may again later, and the power company indicates the power will be out for the day. Good thing for having generators. Carol, one can hear the sounds of these forest killing monsters, they can be heard for kms. The raging spinning blade is the size of a round dinner table, 5cms thick on the end of a boom on a machine resembling a backhoe and will consume hectares of large trees and seedlings per hour, and burn a lot of diesel.

Another nice day here,,couldn't face the madding crowds so had a short walk through the park.Found a quiet spot (for a minute or two) and just looked into the canopy and listened to the birdsong. I feel so sad for you Buff seeing the world you know and love disappearing.Hopefully when our time comes we will go where our hearts were happy and meet the people we have loved again.

Cool and clear today with dry westerly winds. I had a strange day yesterday. I was watching TV and there was a really loud knock on my door. I was not expecting anyone. I actually felt like I should put my hands in the air as I opened the door. It was two armed policemen. Fortunately their guns were in their holsters. One asked me if this was unit ! . Sigh of relief ,I told him I was unit three and that unit 1 was at the other end of the house. They thanked me and trotted off. No idea what it was all about. Ron.

Had some lovely sunny days lately. My hanging baskets are starting to spring flowers out, my tubs and pots too. I do love it when the colour appears. My white lilac tree is amazing this year yet others are doing nothing. Bit of a weird spring i think. My birds are getting through 10 fat balls a day at the moment. Ridiculous! Hedgie is still about and no signs of badgers. I suspect my neighbour has done something. They should have been out already with their young. No digging and no poos from badgers. No sights either. tomorrow i'm off to a garden centre in Oxfordshire. I hope to buy a few more plants.

Cool and wet today with even wetter tomorrow. Tasmania received over 70mm of rain overnight with quite a bit of localized flooding. There was a massive drug bust Australia wide in the last couple of days. Thousands of kilos of cocaine was seized in the combined international bust. There were over a hundred arrests in Australia mainly outlaw motorcycle gang members and suspected mafia. I doubt if my neighbor had the brains to be involved but they may have checked him. It is no longer the world that I grew up in and I find it very concerning. Nearly every arrest I see on the nightly news is connected to drugs particularly meth amphetamines. Not good. Ron.

20c...no comment.
This was once a much sought after area to live.A mix of large Victorian and small terraced with tidy gardens etc.Every one knew you ,at least on "good morning" terms. But it's changed in 10yrs.I think almost every where is going to hell in a handcart. It's very scarey.

Another mass murder when a man in his early 20's ran over a family of 5 with his truck leaving only the 9 year old boy alive and orphaned. He lost his parents, sister and grandmother. Its a far different world from the gentler one I remembered, today its filled with crime, poverty, and a lot of hatred.
22C mosquitos thick and friendly, one more nice day before the familiar cold and damp routine returns.

Wonderfully hot for two days now. Sorry about that Carol. Mind, i see NSW is under snow. We heard about the mega drugs bust. Amazing how world-wide it was, Ron. All those plots to murder around 100 people. What a horrible world they live in. Scary really. I don't like our world today either. We definitely had it better, although most generations don't know anothers generation. It's not the same today in any field.

Really overcast today. Not too warm either. Carol, i could have done with a nice warm breeze when in the garden. Untangling bine stem weed that seems to grow around a foot a day wasn't too warm. I didn't think it was a warm breeze at all. Mind, i was mainly keeping an eye on my old cat who has suddenly got vestibular issues. She's wobbling badly and falling onto her side. But she likes to curl up outside. God, i thought she was going to die of a stroke when it first happened. She's quite a delicate one really.

Our numbers of cases are up in no time at all and more deaths too. The back to normal date is now in doubt and more lock downs could happen. Our Govt should have properly locked down like our Antipodean friends who were sensible and practical and haven't suffered too badly.

It's a mix of sun and cloud here with a predicted high of 15c. I'm getting my second Pfizer jab this coming Tuesday. After the last one I have a bottle of codeine ready. They say the second one can hit you harder if you're under a certain age... I don't really know how it can hit any harder than how it felt like Mike Tyson pounded on me the last time... Maybe getting hit by a baseball between the eyes??? I'm not too worried though, more relieved to be good to go for Canada Day weekend and the remainder of summer!

It has been a very cool week for us. Daily temps around 7-19c . Victoria has been hit with bad storms with strong winds and very heavy rains . The worst area has been in Gippsland where two drivers have died after their cars were caught in floodwaters. There has been record snow for areas of the southern alps and the Vic snowfields. The main cause of the weather has been a large and intense Bass strait low. It has moved to the Tasman sea but there is another one following closely from the west. There have been many large trees knocked over in Gippsland with severe property damage and power losses to large areas. Ron.

Not much to worry about when you are asleep Lynda. I had stage 3 colon cancer removed at one stage and they opened me up from sternum to below my navel. I was out of hospital in ten days. It is not my brightest memory but I survived. I was lucky ,I was in having a scope one day , next evening I was on the table. No time to think about it. I would rather it had been keyhole than opencut surgery. You do what you have to. Hugs Ron.

18C Sunshine after a couple of cold gloomy wet days, I had to put the fire on to take the chill out of the house last night. Our numbers have been going down, but the number of variants are on the rise. They are slowly opening things and allowing for small gatherings, it will be seen if its light at the end of this long tunnel, or the train.

Lovely and sunny here today. I nipped to Daventry to get my chemo meds. There is a summer food fare on and hordes of people. Only around 30% have any sign of possession of a mask. Love the words "they think it's all over". I'm watching the euros and those famous footie words will probably ring out long before the final for England lol. But I too can't believe how many aren't bothering with a mask out! Loonies. Chris, i suffered my first astrazenica jab. It was horrendous. You have my sympathy and admiration for going for the second. Ron, the winter in Aus looks like a proper one for once. Sad about the flooding and downed trees. Talk about no waiting list for surgery, lucky you. I have put a woolly on during a couple of evenings but the electric blanket and heating are finally off here. None too soon.

It is still in winter mode here. My body does not like it, I woke at 4am this morning with an asthma attack. It was too cold to get up but I finally had to find my ventolin inhaler and sort things out. I am not wheezing so much this morning but I still don't feel well. I go to the doctor on friday for my second astrazenica jab. That will be it two covid shots and a flu shot. Ron.
