What is YOUR weather like today??

86% of Qld is now drought declared and the forecast for the next few months is dismal. we may get a light reprieve this week with the possibility of a small east coast low forming in our area but as the forecasters said , it is looking good but be prepared to be disappointed again. The signs are increasing that we are heading into an el-nino again. Ron.

A supercell formed in the Brisbane valley this afternoon. Travelled two hundred kliks and beat up a heap of farms and small towns before hitting the northern suburbs of Brisbane and caused a fair bit of havoc. The upside was a good drenching for some very dry areas. We even managed around 50mm in our area which is more rain than we have had so far this year. They are hopeful that a small east coast low will form and bring a bit more rain. Ron.

Dull and drab today, not so warm either. Hedgie was about last night which was lovely. Not sure they mate until they are two years. But i'm hoping for mummies and babies to be trotting and pigging out in my garden.

Shedwards parents are starting nesting again.I hope we don't have the same carry on as last year.Much rather have hoggies, but we'll still do our bit if need be.

Aw bless those birds. I hope you get some shedwards and shedwina's to admire your shed, lol. I'm awaiting that giraffe's calf live on youtube. They got her dates wrong so it's been 2.5 weeks of eagerly awaiting, i'm bored of the entire episode now.

Rain is good Cmack, and I hope all in the eastern parts of the US are safe.

Here it's a truly wonderful spring day. I love this. I wish summer were this lovely, but hey it's Britain.

Looks like the east coast low will form over northern NSW and not off the Sunshine coast .We probably will not get any rain from it. Disappointing. Ron.

30c today with 70% humidity. Going up tomorrow to around 33c and high humidity. Almost impossible to work absolutely impossible to sleep. The run of above average temps is forecast to continue. Ron.

Oh Ron.!!! I really feel for you my friend. It must be torture.:( :ghug:

Everything is slushy, snowy and soggy here, above zero. We are about a month behind usual.

Oh yuck,I remember my dogs used to get in a heck of a mess.Especially my G.S.Ds who did like to roll in snow but mucky slush was a favourite.:sign0085:

Colder today,about 5c.and grey.

32c high humidity, Brisbane got some wild storms including a tornado at Bris airport. Very rare to get tornadoes on land here we usually get them offshore as water spouts. There was no traffic on the tarmac when it touched down so it was more a curiosity than a problem. Ron.

They forecast 29c for today. Naturally by 1030 am it has reached 31c. Humidity is close to 60%. It is supposed to be raining but it is sunny with big white fluffy clouds. The endless summer continues. Ron.

Yesterday was the Spring Equinox....equal dark and daylight hours. Now we can look forward to gradually lenghtening days, but hopefully not like today.Grey and damp.

It finally decided to rain. The gold coast hinterland copped half a metre of rain over the weekend. We haven't had anywhere near that up on the sunshine coast but we have probably received 150mm over the past few days. The temps have fallen slightly but are heading back to the 30cs by the end of the week. It has stirred the crocs up , a skin diver was attacked and killed yesterday diving on a close in reef and a young bloke jumped into one of the northern Qld creeks for a dare and nearly lost his arm. The docs were able to sew most of it back togeather. Still hard to sleep 23-4c overnight and 93% humidity , Ron.

It's been sunny for most of the day,but cooler than of late.Big temperature drop tonight and "Thunder Snow" expected mid-week.!!!!

I have never seen thunder snow before.

Oh,you know how they like to dress things up,nothing's ever straight forward.

Sunny, quite cold and windy. We had a miniscule flurry this morning, but before I could say"It's snowing" it was over.hahaha.

Expecting snow over night but warmer at the weekend..:dance::dance:

A few cloudy days with some heavy showers. The rains have not reached the worst of the drought effected areas but the forecasters are keeping an eye on an east coast low in the Coral sea that may yet develop into a cyclone, the one they said shouldn't happen. Ron.

Lots of rain , mostly central and south central coast but we are expecting more tomorrow. The forecaster tonight suggested that the low in the coral sea was showing definite signs of intensifying and could be a cyclone by the weekend. Interesting to see if it does. Water temps are certainly still high enough. Ron.

They are about a day off naming cyclone Debbie. They are talking cat 3 to start with. They expect it to intensify over the next few days and possibly make landfall between Cairns and Mackay on Monday. They caught the Croc that bit the guy on the arm last week. It was four meters so he is very lucky to have his arm and his life. They did not get the one that killed the skin diver but they got a look at it. That is how they found him , the croc attacked the search boat. Nasty.Ron.

They now expect to name cyclone Debbie tomorrow. The way it is intensifying they expect it to be cat 4 with winds up to 200 kph. They are not sure where it will move to so they have put out a cyclone watch for a large area of the north Qld coast. Ron.

Nice start to the day, (9-10am)blue sky and sunshine. It's supposed to get up to 14c later.
People will be parading their pale, flabby winter skin in all it's glory hahaha. But not me,I've learned not to trust forecasts.I'll maybe wear a lighter jacket.
The first sign of spring sunshine in this country, and those who really shouldn't,throw caution to the winds.

glorious day in Northamptonshire too. Bulbs to put in the garden and a few spuds in the veggie patch I think. Maybe i'll just sit in the sun.

Ron50, stay safe and stay away from 4 meter crocs.

Well Debbie has been named and she is big. Just about covers the whole coral sea. They say it will intensify and may even reach cat5 if it moves slowly. The sea temps are around 30c, just perfect for feeding a storm. They have had news coverage of the north Qld coastal towns. Unlike some storms in the past the locals are taking this one very seriously. I hope they are wrong. Ron.

Same here, although a bank of fog rolled in from the sea earlier. It only lasted about 15mins before the sun chased it off.
Clocks went forward today, so it will be light until well after 7pm tonight.I just want to cast off my winter garb, then I'll be happy.Might have to wait a wee while longer for that though.

They have evacuated large areas of low beachfront from cairns down to near Townsville and most of the offshore islands. The ports in the area are all closed and the airports will probably shut tonight. The state government has moved thousands of emergency personal into the area and a lot of emergency equipment like generators ect. The storm is expected to be upgraded overnight to cat 3 and by the time it reaches land on Tuesday morning it is expected to be cat 4 or higher with winds around 230 kph with possible gusts up to 280 kph. The storm is expected to reach shore just in time to coincide with the highest tides of the year and because of its size there may be a tidal surge of two meters of more. Everyone in the area is hoping that things do not reach the worst case scenario and there is minimal damage. The sugar cane is nearly due for harvest and sugar and banana farmers are expecting heavy losses. Ron.

Hang in there and have ample supplies of fuel for your generator, and supplies to get through the storm. Around here the power can be unreliable due to the long distances the lines are in these rural parts west of Lake Superior.
Today its gentle by comparison, gray with a little bit of freezing rain. We still have plenty of snow on the ground but we are entering spring which is better known as fire season. Its all part of life around here out in the Boreal.

I am well out of harms way it is usually only the small cyclones that bounce all the way down the coast but I have quite a few friends in the areas in danger. Most people are complying with the evac orders in the areas most likely to be hit by tidal surge. I really feel sorry for the farmers both sugar and bananas take at least tho years to grow or produce fruit so it is a long time between paydays if the crops get flattened. I just hope people listen to warnings and stay safe. Ron.

Debbie is moving slowly towards land . At 8 pm tonight she was upgraded from cat3 to cat4 and may intensify further. It is expected to cross the coast tomorrow morning very close to high tide between Bowen and Ayr. Arlie beach , Prosepine and the Witsunday islands will be on the weather quadrant (SE) of the storm as it comes in and will cop a beating. They are expecting a storm surge predicted to be anything from 2.5 to 3.5 metres as it comes ashore. 25,000 residents of lowlying suburbs have been ordered to evacuate. The storm is expected to move well inland leaving a trail of destruction before it reverts to a rain depression . Some areas are expecting in excess of 500 mm of rain. By ten am tomorrow we should know the worst of the damage if things go as predicted. Ron.

Things are better and worse this morning. The good news if you could call it that, is that Debbie has stalled 75 kliks off the coast. That means that she will not make landfall at the same time as the high tide. The bad news is that the areas involved will be in for a much longer battering. She is still cat 4 and the max winds are estimated to be 260 kph. Unfortunately like most storms the winds are not constant , they have lulls followed by gusts and it is the gusts that do all the damage. There are reports coming in from the Whitsunday islands and airlie beach of damage. The main highways are already cut in places by flood waters and that will only get worse. Mackay to the south is being battered by 8 metre swells. Ron.

Debbie is on land and still at cat three. It was worse than anyone expected. Offshore the resort islands of Hamilton and Hayman were absolutely battered the highest wind gust recorded at 263 kph. It hovered around the islands for hours then around midday it slowly rolled ashore between Bowen and Prosepine and right over the top of Airlie beach. There is a lot of damage. The winds are still at around 160 kph even tho the storm has moved inland. The Govt has asked that people remain in their homes until they have given the all clear probably some time tomorrow. The army and airforce have been mobilised to follow emergency rescue squads into the devastated areas. there is no word on casualties yet. The heaviest rainfall was 460mm in 24hrs. There are trees down everywhere and many roads cut by flooding. Around 50000 people will be without power for around three days minimum. The low is predicted to head south across the state then exit over the sunshine coast where I live and form an east coast low offshore where it will kick up gales and a huge swell. As it passes they expect it to drop 2-300 mm of rain on the coast. They don't think it will reform into a cyclone. Looks like I may spend next weekend bailing. Ron.

So far so good Catherine. Seems like Debbie may make her escape back to sea via the Sunshine coast dropping a lot of rain as she does. We have had a fair bit already in the last couple of weeks and as the holes in the volcanic hill behind me fill up it eventually exits via the back wall of my flat. If we get the amount they predict I may be bailing for most of the weekend. Still that is nothing compared to the destruction up north. I have quite a few friends up there and I really feel for them. Typical Australia either on fire or flooding, Cheers ron.

Reading about in news. See it still cat. 2.

Insurance losses are expected to be huge. Hopefully the people stay safe and follow the warnings.

Be safe yaall. I'm here in Florida weather is beautiful today wish I could get out and enjoy it!! Thinking of yaall. Please be safe😔

I've been watching Debbie on youtube. It was looking serious for those islands. am thinking of you Ron50 with having to bail out your home. Stay safe

They have just issued a general flood alert for every river and creek between Gladstone in central Qld and the qld border. Debbie is being a real menace. Ron.

Over 1000 Schools and 800 child centres are closed in Queensland today. There is wide spread flooding. Our emergency services are doing great job saving people from roofs of houses and roofs of cars.

Stay safe Ron.

G'day Catherine,
The main rain event has not reached us yet , it is still just south of Bundaberg. Despite that the Gold coast hinterland has already received 385 mm of rain overnight and this morning. We had a severe storm and downpour on the Sunshine coast overnight and around 190mm of rain . The main event will reach us around 4.30 this afternoon. I was doing a fair bit of bailing early this morning but it hasn't been too bad since then . I am expecting a marathon effort this afternoon and tonight. They picked up the stranded tourists from Daydream island. They were happy to be ashore. They all said the island will take ages to recover. Ron.

All calm here thank God. Sun trying to come through, not cold any many trees gaining slight green tinges. Tis lovely to see Spring developing.

Stay safe in Aus.

Well that was an unpleasant week. I'm not sure that the state would be in much more of a mess if someone had nuked us. The Prosepine Whitsunday area is a train wreck and just about every river from there to the NSW mid coast is in flood. The damage bill will be in the billions. I have been thru quite a few cyclones including one where the eye of the storm passed right over us but I don't think I have ever seen one as nasty as Debbie. Ron.

Things are still terrible thanks to Debbie. Two women have drowned in separate incidents in northern NSW flooding. The Gold coast is a disaster area following the arrival of floodwaters from the hinterland. Hundreds of homes are underwater. Rockhampton is awaiting the second highest flood peak in it's history since 1954. It has the largest catchment area of any river in Qld and the combined runoff from all of the tributaries will arrive in Rockhampton middle of next week. In Lismore in NSW they are bringing in large pumps. The levees that were supposed to protect the town have turned it into a giant swimming pool and they need the pumps to get it out. It is school holidays in Qld and there is nowhere to go. The seas are massive from the coastal low (yes the remains of Debbie) and full of dirty water and debris. The gold Coast is shut down including all off the theme parks as are all of the tourist destinations to the north. Most schools have kids camps on during these holidays but they are all cancelled. I think everyone is starting to go a little stir crazy. Ron.

Good start here.Washing's on the line and all the windows are open,BUT showers are forecast so I'm keeping a close eye on the clouds.
We don't appreciate just how good UK weather is,most of the time that is.
If we hadn't come to our senses and had second thoughts,my hubby and I would have been living in Australia.

They found the body of a 70 yr old on the Gold coast. Went to check his horses and drowned in flood waters. A bush walker went missing in the gold coast hinterland the first day it rained. That was last Wednesday he has not been seen since. The amount of floodwater that went thru there they may never find him. I think there are another two or three people still missing in Qld and they are not sure in NSW. Then we have to wait till Wednesday for the flood peak in the Fitzroy river to hit Rockhampton. Always an exciting place to be in a flood as the Fitzroy has a healthy population of crocs. Ron.

The saga of Debbie continues. She crossed the Tasman sea and flooded the North island of New Zealand and was last seen heading for South America where it is possible it may cause more havoc. It is undoubtedly one of the most destructive storms the pacific rim has ever seen. Sadly last week the floods claimed a woman and two children when she lost control of her van on a road covered with flood mud and went into the Tweed river. One of her children made it out of the car and swam to shore. Very sad. Rockhampton is still covered by water in several areas. It flooded last Thursday and the water has remained at the same level since then. Ron.

Such a lovely day today, and tomorrow will be the best all this young year. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I'm going to be in the garden I think. So much new foliage too. I hope spring is good for all northern hemisphere and that the southern brings you what you need weather wise.

9-20am and 11c already,expecting 17c later but 23c is forecast for London.
Clear blue skies and sunshine so I expect back-yard barbies will be firing up later......temp.has risen 2 degrees in 10mins....:sign0085:...

Now 13c.

Having a couple of days off work , no not fishing, having a colonoscopy on Tuesday.
31c tomorrow , The weather is sunny. Unfortunately they are still finding bodies in creeks as the water levels subside. Well I best get to bed so I can wake up to a breakfast of clear fluids tomorrow, the things we have to do, Ron.

Now you know me,I'm not one to moan......BUT this sudden heatwave is killing me,I can't stand it, nor the thousands of people crowding the park and the coast with their bad manners and noise !!!!
RON....good luck mate.Hope you get good news.
