maybe I could ask for an umbrella drink too! and get a heat lamp in my room and a sound scape that way I can be at the beach without having to worry about the sand!

Ha ha!! lol! Come on down!
Actually the weather can be pretty bad this time of year. We say that we have two seasons Summer and February.
We could dround out all of the noise of the nurses coming in a 4am when I am in a deep sleep and ask to take your vitals.. True story. I was in the hospital with my first Crohn's attack and this is what the conversation was at 4am....
Nurse: Miss Kent? Are you awake? What is your pain level this morning?
Me: My pain level is you.. you just woke me up! And I was in a deep sleep too.
Nurse: I'll come back later..
I was not happy. But I did say I was sorry later on.
My body's chemical process is sunlight + coffee = energy.
Too little of either and I don't function at peak efficiency.
Many a time have I caught myself doing dumb things in the morning before my first cup of joe, like cracking the eggs and going to put them in the garbage instead of the pan and throwing away the shell, dumping my old coffee grounds in the sink, or filling the filter with un-ground whole beans, turning on the wrong stove burner, trying to put the milk in a cabinet instead of the fridge... yeah
Allie was playing the role of Boston Terrier, Seizure Dog!.Sandy had a seizure in a fee minutes after the growling. But she is fine now. Sandy got to the living room, told me Allie had keyed on her. She sat down on the couch, took of her glasses, and was prepared for when the seizure hit. Sandy is doing good now.
Didn't burn the lunch after all.It must be getting very cold outside as I can hear cars crunching up the street.Alf is asleep so doesn't know it's time to go out.The evenings are getting lighter too.4-30pm and still ok for a while yet..........I'll take the win thanks.Idi has been quiet today, knows when he's beat eh ? That didn't take much effort.
Managed to jam up the snow blower and had to finish the driveway the hard way. Stupid brown slush is impossible to clear out of the shoot. I hate gas operated machinery.
I've got my chicken frying skills down to a near science now, since it's about all I eat, have to keep it interesting.
Take 4 thinnish tenders, thawed, spread a pinch of sugar, dust with garlic, turmeric and ginger, set heat to mediumish, fry on the seasoned side 5-10 minutes depending on heat, flip, place a half slice of cheese on each piece, fry 5 more minutes.
Tomorrow I'm thinking of trying honey glazing it.
okay Angel Lady, your recipe is not going to let you win any longer.
Well, I think you've won long enough sanni.
Another day battling the witches of eastwick. sigh.
yea!! Thanks T!
No, sandy I havn't done much cooking lately becasue I have been so busy getting ready for this retreat. I'll be gald when things slow down again.
Try pouring balsamic vinegar over them raw on cookie sheet, french onion soup [dry], sprinkle half a pkg,'evenly, then pour thousand island dressing or russian dressing over each breast and bake on 350 F for 40-45 min. Delish!!!!
Winning while waiting for my guests to arrive.
Sounds good, but onions. :shifty:
I haven't dared to try those in ages.
I did the honey today, it was a good switch up, from salty/cheese to sweet/sour. Made a bit of a charred black mess of the pan but these new non-stick pans are amazing, just a dab of dish detergent and a wet paper towel takes off everything. Fried an egg to go with it for good measure, to absorb some of the flavor.
Hm sounds good, I'm really on edge about all fruits and veggies, most of them are no bueno, but I had some serious stuff going down from other dietary issues and believe my tolerances are better, I need to experiment a bit to see how much better, peaches aren't quite mild enough, but I'm not really sure what's mild/isn't.
I know I can have cantaloupe though, and that's a plus. I love cantaloupe.
its just a relief to meet someone that knows exactly what you talk about
What a fun day. She is the only person I know who also has short gut. Actually her crohns has been very same to mine.. just with 10 years more experience. Diagnosed same age as when I was but 10 years earlier. So I have had a bit of advantage from inproved knowlege and healt care in that time, but other then that its very much the same. Sorry.. being hyper about it, but its just a relief to meet someone that knows exactly what you talk about and how you feel.
I have never met anyone who understands a word I say.
What do you mean?
That picture from Connecticut was absolutely beautiful.
I don't know anyone with crohns but my cousin has celiac, we have some commonalities but celiac's alone is much more flexible in general.
Its nice to meet people with the same problems as what you have. Here they are quite good and have all sort of things for us. Like there is a one week course to learn about everything there is to learn. Its for people who have just gotten diagnosed and its a chance to meet new people with the same problems and they have lectures from doctors and surgeons and nutritionists and others who can give info for a newly diagnosed. Its usually at a spa too
We also have courses to go to as a couple with your spouse or a friend or sibling or parrent (who ever you want to go with). I think its great.. but once you have had crohns for 15 years there is not much new to get from those exept all the wonderfull people that attend.

I think they offer something like that around here, at least some kind of support group meeting but I never went, I'm very anti-social for one, and when I was first diagnosed in like 05 / 06 I think it was I was more keen to hide from my condition because it seemed the more I learned the more scary things I learned could happen so I just didn't want to face it because I was doing well at the time.
Probably could have helped me deal with some of the problems I've encountered and had to figure out on my own.
Maybe I will, unfortunately my success isn't something everyone can replicate, because my tolerance of lactose which I understand to be uncommon has allowed me to switch a ketogenic diet and basically eliminate all things that bother me for a pure fats and protein diet.
"Allowed" could probably be interchanged with "forced" :ylol: But I don't regret it so I'll stick with allowed.

I've heard many times about ketogenic diets in epilepsy web sites and forums (I'm epileptic and my husband has crohns) but never paid much attention to it. you have me very interested now . . .
3E. How to Know You're Under Ketosis
When the body is under a ketogenic metabolism, you will exhale gaseous acetone and excrete acetone thru the urine.
Acetone is said to have a "fruity" smell, so if your breath or urine smells somewhat like fruit then you're under ketosis. Many people also report a metallic taste in their mouths when under ketosis.
There are also ketostix available at any pharmacy with which to test yourself for ketosis.
Ha ha ha ha
You evil person. Give me my win back.
