I'll sneak on while nobody is looking. Trying to get organized myself while one room is emptied. It is going to be my sewing/craft room that nobody can take away - yee haw! Doug has his office upstairs and wood working shop downstairs, I have my craft room, and our little Christmas tree is still up just because I like it.

So. My job ended last year. I have little to no means of getting a new one any time soon and the unemployment agency (I visited today) have nothing for me right now and no ways to help out. So all you lovely friends. Tell me how do i use my time so I dont go crazy at home? I mean playing the I WIN game just is not gonna be enough. ;)

Well I think there are two parts - strategy for finding employment - not getting bored.

For employment how about getting in a routine, say 1 to 2 hours every day, for different tasks: creating the perfect CV (a real skill!) - registering with online and high street job agencies - focus on your skills to identify all the jobs you can do / would like to do - send off at least one job application (by post or email) every day, even if it is just applying to Companies who have not advertised - join LINKEDIN - contact Companies from the English speaking world who deal with Finland, who could benefit from your language skills - volunteer for something, (amazing what happens when you are out meeting people) - be a real pest until someone offers you a job you like. I hope none of that sounded patronising.

To stop getting bored..... hmm ..........smoke cigars.

When I was off work, I busied myself with a few things ... projects so to speak. Daily workouts was one, learning to knit, watching a tv series, like a boxed dvd set, cleaning out old photos/albums, doing a research project, rewriting recipe cards for my new recipe box ... I was off for months and had sooo much to do that I couldn't get it done. I also cooked and baked alot and fattened up my family until they literally begged me to stop lol. Find something that needs doing that you've been procrastinating about and chip away at it. You could also maybe volunteer somewhere (visit seniors, help at a shelter, walk dogs, etc)

Actually Robert you sound like my boy friend. Thats exactly what he said I should do. My problem is before that last ½ year of doing a part time job I was on disability retirement for 5 years. So perfect CV is non existant. No one will hire a person with healt problems and next to NO job experience. Also I had to quit school 5 years back because if Crohns and so don't have a higher education either, just high school. So I am a bit at a dead end. I will of course try my best, but its just too hard to try the impossible. I may just have to wait till the employment agency can assign me onto someone to help me, but that may take time she said especially since the whole system is being renewd. Hopefully to the better. And since I have not been in the working worl I really have no idea about CVs and things like that. But i will give it a try.

Dee, like I said to Robert, I been on disability for 5 years before this so really not that meny projects to do. I tried going to senior home before but felt really out of place there. I would like to do the animal shelter but our area only has 1 and its far away and I don't have a car so transportation would take way more then an hour per direction + I am not sure that in this financial situation I can afford the busfares very often. So yeah.. also need to be inexpensive.

Just frustrating.. the system here put me in a situation I have to do work, but they dont give me any help in to how to do it. It was more simple being on retirement. :( Justs feels hopeless.

Are you into crafts? You could make wreaths and sell them . Just buy some round stick wreaths at a bargain store and a glue gun(they are cheap). Also some fake flowers and ribbons and little trinkets to put on(like birdhouses or butterflies) at a craft store. It's amazing what you can make. I love doing that. Just a suggestion.:thumleft:

Book series if you enjoy reading? Online games? Puzzles? How about writing? Sorry for what you're going through hun. I got so bored at home too over 5 months and against doc's orders returned to work.

Also, Sanni, there are online jobs you can do if you can enter information in your computer and pass a clearance for the law. Because you are taking creditcard information. It is called liveops.com and you take phonecalls from people ordering things off TV commercial channels. They route the calls to your phone. You tell them ahead of time what hours you want to work. The more you work, the more you make. They mail a check directly to your home. You do have to pay taxes etc... Now this is in America and they don't always need people. But, keep checking with them. They pay pretty well. My husband had friends that their wives did it to stay home with their children. They made a decent amount of money too.

Hi all, quick win before I organise something to eat.Actually we're having homemade fish cakes, which I took out the freezer this morning,so not much to organise really.Might make some parsley sauce and open a tin of peas.Back later for another win........

icky to peas, they are my least fave vegggie. when we were little we all (myself and siblings) got to pick one vegetable that we never had to eat. I picked peas because they were frequent. My brainless bro & sis picked cauliflower and zuchinni which we NEVER had. Baby Dee was the smart one lol.

I gues from crafts something like knitting might be something I would do more of. Make some socs :) I do have a glue gun and like to do crafts but usually get bored fast and the cats help a bit too much sometimes. And I allready tried the sushi thing. Definately will be doing more of that too.

Thanx for the support. Ill try not complain too much about things. ;)

Hmm .... why does that not surprise me?

Sanni - crosswords and Suduko will keep your mind sharp (you can probably tell I gave them up years ago).

If you knit alot and make alot of things you can fetch a great price for those at a sale place. I know over here it goes for a very high premium.
It takes a long time and talent to knit!

Well,I'm absolutely useless at EVERYTHING arty farty. Not interested, never was, never will be.I'm a good organiser and keepy cleaner,I can cook enough to stop us fading away, and most of it's edible. All I wan't to do is walk Alfie, read my book and get away with the caravan. And I have never in my life been bored. The tv isn't switched on until late afternoon during winter, and early evening in summer. But what I am good at is winning.................oh,and sarcasm

Me either, if I get bored I write someone a letter or send them a card. Or I'll bake chubby hubby a cake and make him happy. Or call a longlost friend to say hello. There are many things you can do when bored. Read a :thumright:really good book.

Hi Cheryl and Carol! Anyone ever get TMJ symptoms and nausea and headaches from it???:sign0085:

I'm certain I have TMJ, just never wanted to get it diagnosed officially after I saw the "treatment" a good friend went thru for it. I never knew how my ex boyfriend always knew I was yawning in the car when he was driving and it was dark...my jaw pops every single time, and he would hear it. But I do get the headaches, yes....

You know Robert. My grandparents play a game a Scrabble every morning to keep their hears sharp. Croswords may not be a bad idea. But then you all have seen my spelling.. cant get gat far with that. lol

Teresa, I know people sell knitted socks for a lot here. I I would be able to make a couple and hand out as x-mas gifts next year I know people would love them.

I do a crossword daily.I have withdrawel symptoms if I don't.So,obviously I read a daily newspaper. But if I'm too busy to read it before, say 3pm,then I don't bother.Doesn't happen very often though.Just one of my little quirks,of which there are many haha.

But your English is great - almost as good as my Finnish

Hauskaa Paivanjatkoa Sanni!

Kiitos samoin Roope

My english is good. I grew up with it as a language I speak at home. My writing is bad in both languages. Probably have dysleksia. + on the computer its 2x more bad cus I just dont read what i type. Lazy.. :thumright:

Teresa, the migraine probably brings on the nausea....

why would it come on later day and nausea already here? Don't feel right, like something is wrong with me. But, I've had it before and it does go away. Mild chest discomfort too. Werid! Think maybe I should lay down for a bit.:(

Teresa, could it be a small anxiety attack? Sounds much like it.

No, i am fine that way. I have this once in a blue moon and it's always the same. They thought it might be my heart so they did a heart cath and my heart is clean as a whistle they said. No problem. I get like vertigo I guess coz I feel weird and nauseus and headache and my face hurts and jaw clicks when I move it.
Maybe I'll take a lorazepam and see if it helps.

Does sound tied to the TMJ, but I do know that different ailments in the body can bring on anxiety, so wondered. Awwww, love ya, Sweetie!

I looke it up onweb Md and other sites. It can be just from the TMJ because I've had it so long. It can cause all the symptoms I have and even stress contributes to it. Well, at least I know what it is. I am going to post a few and lay down for a nap. Hopefully will feel better then. Thankyou for caring!

Bear, I play sudoku on my phone several times a day, and it has never helped my mind.
Teresa, Angel Lady, feel better. :Karl:

So silent here tonight. You must all be somewhere doing something "important". So I will take the win while I go to bed. Good night.

I was wondering if you were still sleeping, and if you were feeling better.....was hoping you were, darn it.

Sandybee!!!
Took advil even though not supposed to after my 3 hr. nap and wow did it help!. I may take it tmoro morning so I can make it to Dana's and then over Glenns.

poor Doug tried to surprise me by coming home for lunch, and I had just fallen asleep and he couldn't wake me up for anything. I said something about hating my sleeping problems, and he said "I hate them more"

Sorry Sandy, I didn't think you were coming back on so I went downstairs and watched the rest of a movie.I took a half of a muscle relaxer and lorazepam so I can sleep tponight. I could tell the advil is wearing off. Headache coming back. So, I took more. No, it didn't hurt my tummy. It never did. they say it's bad for your intestines because it's coated and melts in there . But, I hadn't taken them for over a year when I was diagnosed with the crohns. I don't think once in awhile will hurt. I used to live on them everyday because of backpain.
So, how was your time with Oto? I'll be on tmoro morn if I'm cleaning for a minute. If I can't go clean, then I'll be on alot more. Loves ya sweetiebee!

the visit with Oto was very nice because he didn't get divided attention. I also think you are right on the Advil, especially if it's never given you problems before. they work really well for my headaches, but once in a while my tummy doesn't like them, if I take too many over period of time
I just hope you feel better.

p.s. got some new clothes today. yay!!

:hug:I'm going to go crash before I go to bed, but if I can wake up, I'll be on tomorrow.

Pretty good. We got a bunch of rain today. First time in months! it felt very refreshing and we are going to get more tomorrow so I think that is a win!

OMG.. I think I see the SUN! wow.. been a couple days. Anyways. I win now. Going to do some house work today.

Just had a nice walk along the coast as it's a lovely day a nd we have to make the most of any fine weather we get.Someone had left a biscuit tin on a bench, with a note taped to it.It read "To dog walkers and dogs, please help yourselves to a dog treat in memory of Lokey 1996-Jan 2010.And there was also a photo of a lovely white crossbreed. it was a lovely thought and just wanted to share it with all you dog lovers.............And to take the win of course !!!!!!

A little better, but not 100%, thanx for asking. The advil really helps even thought I shouldn't take it often. Just to get thru this, I am. Thanx hun!

Mild here, but apparently there's a cold snap headed to the UK soon?

According to forcasts, temp dropping and MAYBE snow by weekend. It's got to come I suppose. The country will grind to a halt again eh ? Makes you feel ashamed when the rest of the world copes ok with REALLY bad weather.

Well you are too dear!!!!
I have to go do something, then be bacl,ok? Hold my spot as winner!!!:D:heart:

sorry T couldln't hold your spot, grabbing it as my own (which is better than grabbing my own lol rofl)

I am chilled this morning for some reason, it isn't that cold here the last few days, so who knows?

Carol, that's a fantastic idea. I did go out to my car for a small break, turned on the heater, and the seat heater, that helped some!
Robert, you need slapped already today! LOL!
