Shanen, did all go well at the Mayo and I hope that you are feeling better - the work fairies should be smacked.
Sandy, vent away my friend - its good to get it out not keep it in where it can affect that heart you know.
Hey all, hope everyone is okay. Trying to get things sorted here so that my neice can stay with my mom so that I can go on holiday (my first in 6 years) on October 3rd to Oregon. My mom has alzheimer's and keeps forgetting that I'm going and that Talitha is coming to stay, and as no one has ever stayed with her other than me since she moved in with me 24 years ago she is being a little difficult and my crohn's has picked now to act up again it seems that I now have ulcers in my stomach bloody thing. Did anyone know that you could become steriod dependent? What the H*ll is that about? And if they know that why do they leave you on it for 11 almost 12 flipping months and then taper you off and watch you swing in the air like a baboon on a vine on cheap wine? Doctor's have a very warped sense of humor.

Taking the win and my whine and saying goodnight. Sincerely hope that everyone is doing well and has a wonderful night - till tomorrow - winning:well:

That stinks Grumpy. Shanen's situation stinks. Hoping everyone is doing better tomorrow. Picnics for everyone. I want to go to Oregon! But then, if I'm going to get greedy, one of my favorite vacations was to Vancouver island, up past you grumpy. And Victoria is a beautiful city (at least it was thirty years ago when I was last there, , so assume it still is.) Hang in there, all of us! :ghug:

At hubs work do then out for tea for his birthday with friends at a Chinese restaurant

Been a little preoccupied the last couple days. Can I still come out and play with you guys and gals? Thinking of y'all and sending good thoughts.Winning

Crohnies are so strong
You give me inspiration
I will not give up!

A pre work Haiku. Is there a haiku thread on here? Who doesn't like a good haiku?
H,m,m,m...just a rambling man.I miss coffee.

Win

Mayo went as well as it could. Switching to Remicade as Humira weekly is not working and need to figure out when I can schedule surgery.
Hope it's a good day for all. Seems like we're all a little unsettled. Maybe it's the change of seasons? Who knows.
You'll get things sorted with you mom Grumpy. Enjoy your vacation and unwind. Still waiting to taper from 60mg Pred a day. Sure wish it would be soon.
Sandy I hope you're doing better. As Grumpy said, vent away and relieve some stress. Doug might appreciate it as well. :)
Dave I hope things are going better for you today.

It's already a better day here, hope it is for all of you too. Things seem a little lighter here, so that's a good sign. I just went from 60mg pred to 40 yesterday and slept like a baby last night. I don't know how anyone does that long term, sorry my friends who have had so much. Shanen, I hope you get your surgery soon and can put all this behind you ASAP. It was night and day for Doug after his surgery a few years ago now. I've loved the poetry references lately, here on this thread and elsewhere in the forum. If anyone's interested http://m.poets.org/poetsorg/text/poetic-form-haiku.
Also, I got to watch a "wildlife" encounter between my dog and neighborhood cat on our back patio today. They have been meeting in our backyard lately, sizing each other up, chasing each other (about the same size) and trying to decide who's in charge. Allie, who chases a great Dane thru backyard fences, got scared from a little swipe from the cat and came running to me. Then the cat rubbed up against Allie (with me there) and licked (kissed) her after. Allie looked terrified! But sat there and took it. I gave Allie permission to chase the cat if the cat scared her again. I think she understood! Too funny.

Definitely winning.

Dave, what's a haiku?

A Japanese poem that does not rhyme and consists of three verse. The first and third have five syllables and the second has seven. 5-7-5

fire wood stacking
I was suppose to do that
Damn,some other day

Win!

I just want to stay in bed and sleep all day, but that won't get the washing done

Friday evening win after a lovely romp in the woods

Yes, happy (late now) birthday, Dave. Good age. I'm fifty something, Doug is a couple years younger than me, fifty something too.

Hi Trev, hi all!

My beloved Utes were up 21 to nothing on this fine blustery, rainy day (well, yesterday now), and we still (gulp) lost! Wahhhhhhhh!

Kirsti, what happened to Steve? Is he okay?

But I win. :)

Good luck with it all, Kirst. It's been a hard week around here, hasn't it? So many people going thru so much. Keep your smile on. You have a lot of friends here, to support you and Steve. Keep us posted.

It was a mellow birthday spent around the house, hanging out with the wife and dogs. Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Kirsty-Hopefully today won't be too long a day for your hubby to go through waiting for his tests tomorrow.

From one old fella to another, hope the fishing improves for you,Trev.

Sandy,I feel like your Utes at times.I feel I'm winning this 'game' with CD and it comes back and lays the smack down on me.Something we all can relate to,I'm sure. :voodoo: (always wanted to use that emoticon)

I'll send Steve, and all of you, healing thoughts.Hope every ones day ends a little better than it started.Keep the faith!!!

:birthday2: Belated best wishes Dave.

We had a run out today (in the car,not on foot )

we passed a small farm and saw a pig with three legs and a crutch.

The farmer was standing at the fence smoking his pipe,so we stopped to ask about the pig.

"Well " he said "He's my pet pig and I'll never send him to market, but the wife fancied a leg of pork for lunch one day,and I hadn't the heart to kill it ":ylol2:

Apologies to vegetarians

Yep a strange lot where you live

Yep a strange lot where you live

Have you never had pork with apple sauce where you live ? I'm sure even Her Majesty enjoys a bit o' crackling.

The point is,why kill the poor animal when you only need a small part of it ?

Waste not,want not.:thumleft:

pork chops and apple sauce...m,m,m,good! You might say it is a winning combination.

One more win for me for the day (unless the pred keeps me up tonight).

Winner winner, had chicken for dinner!

Hubs on prednisone now. Still no idea what it is. They can tell us it's not mumps, cancer, infection. But if prednisone doesn't work and he starts having breathing difficulty we will go to our main hospital via ambulance at that stage. Doc said we should know in 24 hours or so if pred doesn't work and swelling continues

Just made ham and egg pies for hubby and chap next door.
I'm NEVER going to bake again.What a bl**dy mess !!!
I'm sticking to casseroles, soups and shepherds pie from now on'
Everything else will be store bought.--------- winning before I walk limpy legs (again)

We had a dog once that shattered its leg and had to have a pin put in. We bought a little red wagon to take her on her "walks." Boy oh boy, are our pets expensive.

Going to go clean my kitchen win. Expecting Carol for company sometime soon. :) :) :) (Carol, the cousin, not Carol here. But Carol here iswelcome any time too, after I clean the kitchen.)

I DON'T BELIEVE IT !!! The people over the road have got their XMAS TREE up,lights and every thing. I need a drink !!!

I'll join you. Nowhere near ready for the holidays and if I see decorations near me I'm not responsible for the consequences. Go ahead, try me, some days I'm really crabby and enjoy it.

The xmas adverts are starting to sneak onto the TV I've noticed. The Halloween stuffs in the shops, and a few xmas cards and 2015 calendars.Tesco... has tins of sweets piled up next to the check out too............. I will be tearing my hair out by the end of October, and as those who know me well are already aware I DON'T DO XMAS !!!

But I do WIN !!!

The Christmas decorations are already sneaking their way on to the shelves here - WTF is that its the end of September for crying out loud. I am a Christmas person but you put your tree up the week before and take it down the day after New Years get a grip put that stuff away until November.

Hope everyone is better and doing fine. Am getting ready to run on Friday. Winning

Sneaking in a little win while I'm at work (which is no work hardly). Grumpy, the Oregon beaches are waiting for you. My sister is on her way up to the Washington (state) beaches. Wave hi to her as you cross paths. (She lives in Nevada.)
Happy day all.

Have fun Grumpy..don't take home any seals. This is a happy I haven't seen a Christmas reference yet win!! Ho,Ho,Ho.

Perhaps it is vino and winning the lottery for Kirsty and Steve? I'd gladly stand a side for that win! Hope hubby is doing better.

I don't know where today has gone, but I came back to to annoy all of you. Hope you're all just resting, or doing something fun. I'm sure Robert is just smoking his cigars, and Trev is fishing. Ducky, are you still quacking?

How about the rest of the B team? Where are you? (No Robert, you're not allowed on the B team).

Time to go figure out then cook dinner win.

Hey all, just a quick win before I go to bed - will drop in for the win tomorrow if I can get a second to say see ya later. Everyone take very good care. Quackers and all have a great week next week and hope that everyone is well! Winning

Ok, so some weeks are just a bad week. This one started out with Steve in A&E, with a virus in his salivary glands. Last night the nurse from the doc phoned to say that while we were there they had a confirmed case of the measles! Anyway spent the hole day seeing if I was allowed the booster vaccine and the answer is no. So now I need to wait and see if I get the measles. I will get a blood test to see what my immunity is to measles. Today I found out HR have classed me as fixed term not permanent staff so I didn't get a pay rise like the others did today. My boss is sorting that one out. Some days and some weeks are just bad weeks!

Hey K-There is a pic in the funny pictures thread that has these words under the picture of a wolf 'autoimmune disease-the only thing tough enough to kick my ass is me!'. Your going through a tough week, but you are tougher! :)

...and with that brief pep talk...I will take a gotta get ready for work, happy to be on the 'B' team win.Have a great day/afternoon/night all!

I feel I need to apologize to Robert for these warm and fuzzy,non-trash talking posts.;) :D

Don't you DARE apologise to Robert !!!
We couldn't bear the smugness.
If you're happy on the B team (best, brainy, beautiful, beguiling, brave etc.etc.) we're happy to have you Dave.

A = arrogant,awkward,,abhorrant,apathetic,*ssh*l*s. You choose.

Huh! You're never that polite to me. You just don't know how to win this game - a clue, it's not by being 'nice'. Staying power and an eye on the prize is what you need.

Staying Power,I've got bucket loads.
I'm not here for the prize,-------been there,done that,got the T- shirt.
And I was always nice to you, until you left me at the airport and went of with that Kylie person. Mind that didn't last long did it. I bet you showed yourself up,you old letch !!!

Sigh. Due to a bad case of hives, additional five days of 60 mg prednisone. It looks like there might be more middle of the night wins. Don't know what I'm allergic too. Maybe it's the a team. Or just Robert. At any rate, have a great trip Grumpy, nice to see you Trysha. I was getting worried! Dave, you're great. We have one quacky forum thread here, don't we all?

I'll take a happy K is going home and is still alive and it's Friday win!! Hope we all stay above ground for a bit longer...I can't pop my clogs until I get that cuppa from a certain cupboard hinge gnawing crohnie, sanz lumps if you please, anyway. It's on my bucket list(or clog list).I guess I'll log off the forum and go spread sunshine amongst the masses.Lucky them!!! :poo:

Hi all. Likes been said,we've survived another week and we've all contributed to make a part of each day fun for each other,I bet there's not many forums regarding chronic illnesses that can say that eh ? Dave do you want builders tea or a more refined Earl Grey ? Sandy, I wish things would start to get better for you,Kirsty enjoy a happy weekend in front of the fire with a nice glass or two of something nice. Ducky, two t-shirts is all you need, one on and one in the wash, hope you're fighting the good fight. And everyone else stay as sweet as you are. There's no hope of Robert being sweet, but you can't win' em all......... in case you're wondering, this isn't a farewell post.I'll be back !!!

Sorry Ducky, I needed a longer win. Just waddle on for a bit while I enjoy the win :)

The vines are just starting to show new growth. The green grapes will fill the conservatory again.
